Once Rejected My Alpha Stepbrother Wants Me Back Chapter 41

Chapter 41

Third Person POV.

After a busy day yesterday. Diego thought drinking a few shots in a bar would help to ease his stress. He wasn’t just stressing himself about work but also finding out what Lily was up to and why she lied when they bumped into each other.

Since that night at his apartment when Lilly begged for him to  her, he hadn’t seen her again. She just disappeared into thin air.

Diego had cursed severally, hating the fact that he hadn’t found that pack of wolves that butchered Gabe, his

assistant.

That was one thing about shifters, they know how to hide themselves if they don’t want to be seen. That was what those wolves did

He desperately wanted to find them and tear into them..

When Diego parked his car on the curb, he went into the bar, crowded with wolves and humans. The sounds of their laughter, clinking bottles, and the soft music humming in the background all became a cacophony of sounds, streaming into his car as he went to the bar.

“Can I have whiskey, please?” He told the bartender, tapping his fingers on the counter.

The bartender gave him the drink and he clasped his finger over it, drinking.

Diego’s eyes pranced around in the dimly lit bar, enjoying the views of men chattering while watching the football match.

Well, that seamless eye–wander ended when he saw Lilly. She was with a man whose back was turned to Diego.

Sincerely, the expression on Lilly’s face was that of fear. He watched as she continued wringing her fingers together as if to stop the nervousness she felt.

Diego watched for some time as Lilly bit into her lower lips. Something was wrong, he thought, growing more

curious.

Lilly’s lips trembled as she muttered something to the man.

Diego just couldn’t

stand there watching as the man arched up a bit from his chair and held Lilly’s wrist like a vise.

Quickly, Diego jumped onto his feet and rushed over.

“What’s going on, Lilly?” He barked, wanting to step forward and see the man’s face but Lilly stood up, stopping him.

“Hi, beta, Diego.” She chirped, stepping out of her seat and blocking the man’s view. “I wasn’t expecting

to see you here.” She added, fidgeting.

Diego felt something was wrong.

Chapter 41

Why did her scent smell so much now like the sent he perceived from Gabe that night? Diego thought.

As quickly as the thought came, he discarded it because Lilly

doesn’t have the mark from that night.

“I saw him going violent on you,” Diego stated.

While the banter was going on, the man stood up and crept away, not once showing his face. His back was sturdy and broad. There’s

a light limp in his movement. That’s

just what Diego noticed.

“Um….mind if I join you and drink? That’s just my partner.” Lilly said, wanting to distract Diego.

The beta shrugged it off and nodded. So they went over to the bar and sat down.

The first question

Diego had asked, “How about your family?”

Lilly stilled but barely noticeable. Then. “Awesome. You know we’re definitely missing your presence at the park, beta. Especially omegas like us.”

That was a lie, Diego knew better. Those lies Lilly spilled told him she was planning something.

They didn’t meet by chance. Lilly was definitely up to something.

He circled his pudgy fingers over the glass, gulping the amber liquid. From the rim of his glass, he watched when Lilly was typing frantically into her phone.

After a tense minute, she dropped, faked a smile, and continued drinking.

“Uh..I need to use the restroom. Gonna be right back.” She said, shooting to her feet.

One mistake Lilly made was keeping her cellphone on the counter.

As she went out of sight, he gripped her phone and opened it. Fortunately, the password hadn’t been locked yet. Diego read the last message she received and sent.

Sender: You’re delaying already. I know it’s her. Finish her.

Lilly: It’s not going to be that easy. I think he’s already suspecting me. Please, I need more time…

The message wasn’t

clear, not at all. Who were they talking about? Diego thought.

He dropped the phone silently when he noticed Lilly heading back to the counter from the corner of his eye.

“So where were we?” Lilly asked, smiling.

Chapter 41

All fake. Diego thought. They spent a few hours at the bar before Diego opted to leave.

He had wanted to visit Rose and Aria

When he arrived at Rose’s street, Diego parked gently and went through the small pathway flanked by green lawns.

He rapped on the door before it got opened.

Again Rose wasn’t home yet by that time of the night. He spent a little time with Aria before they slept off, unknowingly.

Now, waking up with no signs of Rose, Diego kinda felt something was wrong somewhere. She didn’t even call to check up on her child? He thought, fishing out his phone. He began calling Rose endlessly until her soft voice

streamed in.

“Hello, babe…” came Rose’s voice.

She called him babe? Had she realized he felt something for her? He thought, basking in the whirl of tingles messing up his body.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Ashton’s POV.

My hands which were tucked into my pockets flew out immediately when Josie asked if I forced myself on her.

Unknowingly, my brows knitted together and I growl. “Why would I do that?”

“What you insinuated. Besides the look you gave me looked more suspicious.” She shot at me, glowering. Even though her checks colored, flushing to my delight. “If I ever find out you forced yourself on me…I’ll sue you to the pack’s court.”

From what she said, it was clear she didn’t remember what happened last night. Not even the way she had begged for me to  her.

To think I nearly did that. That means by now, I’ll answering the pack court.

The

way

she acted last night, one would think by this morning her body must have told her she craved  last night, that she’d even do it with anyone.

I decided to save her the stress of knowing and snapped. “You know suing me there will be a waste of time, Ms. Rose. I mean, I control the pack. Even the court.”

I heard her swear under her breath as she glared deadly at me. I like the feelings I’m stirring in her.

After saying that, I tried to sit on the bed beside her but she rushed away.

Oops, she had made one mistake by moving away because I saw the drenched part of the sheet. And it smells more of musk.

Chapter 41

“Did you urinate on the bed?” I asked, watching as she rolled her eyes frustrated at me.

“How could you even think that?” She tossed her legs around, her the words smattered off her lips.

“I didn’t think it, the evidence is clear.” I hummed. To tease her, I leaned in close and asked. “Or is that a sign you- want something from me?”

Josie slipped out of the bed in haste, and cussed. “You’ll be the last man I’ll ever crave on earth…”

Wow…did she really say that? What about the hot kisses we shared last night?

I couldn’t get more words out because of the ringtone that blared. Josie hurried to her bag and brought it out.

“Hello, babe.” She belts out, watching out the window,

Hearing that term of endearment made me feel nothing but anger and a wave of jealousy.

She just called another man babe!

Unthinkingly, I stood and towered over her back as she leaned on the window panes.

“Alright. I’ll be home soon.” She said with so much tenderness in her voice.

Josie was smiling even as the call ended. She bumped into me when she wanted to walk away but I held her by the

waist.

“You’ve never called me that before, Josie. Why him?” My voice dropped an octave as I looked into the drowning. depth of her blue eyes.

Because, you’re nothing to me. Nothing more than the man I’m teaching languages to.”

“But I want more. Only if you can give me a chance…”

As I spoke, I brought my nose close until our noses touched. My heart skipped several beats as I smelled the scent. of my soap the servants used on her last night.

“Can’t…a bygone is bygone…” She said, wrenching my arms off of her. “Please, stay out of my private life. I really want to enjoy my new life.”

Her words crushed me, cutting deep into my soul. She doesn’t want me to be part of her new life and it hurt.

She had left the room after changing in the bathroom and I went out after her, ordering my driver to do one thing.

“Find out where she lives.”
