Once My Mate, Always My Mate

Chapter 1- A New Beginning

Sabrina’s POV

"What is the meaning of this??" Hunter, my dad asks as he storms in to my house dressed in his tuxedo and my mother not too far away.

"You mean the way we were all summoned to come dressed to the nines in formal attire and to be at Sabrina's place at a certain time? Could that be it, father?” Anthony asks a very upset Hunter. Putting aside his anger, my father has aged well, if I can say aged. There was not a sign of gray hairs and why would I think there would be any really... as he is the king of the heavens and it should take a while for a wrinkle to form on his face.

My mother on the other hand, does not have a limited time like earthlings but it is also not the same as my father. Soon, she will age faster than him and hopefully then, my father will gift her what I am about to do to Xander.

Today was a surprise for everyone except Josey and I... well, if we include Cayden because I am sure she has told him through one of their many pillow talks. With his big mouth, I hope Josey keeps him away from everyone until the start of the ceremony. My father will cancel everything with everything that has happened with my true mate but this is Xander, he could never... I just know it.

"Just follow Evan and he will take you where you need to be." I say and my father groans in response.

"You are aware that you have us all dressed up and in your house after kicking us out? Last time I checked, your father was still the one to rule over us all and that will soon go to your brother. Have you forgotten your place dear child?" My mother asks me and I chuckle.

"Oh, don't worry mother. I will kick you all out right after the ceremony.” I say, walking right behind my mother and we all walk in to the dining hall where Xander and Josey were waiting. Cayden walks in with a glass of whiskey in hand as he winks at me and I just smile back at him.

Everyone takes their seats but I remain standing with Xander by my side.

"I have invited you all here to be in attendance to witness the start of something new. As you all know, Xander and I have decided to try again and I want to make things official.” I say but I am quickly interrupted.

"Hold on, hold on... are you getting married? You know you don't have to do that here and if you are getting married, should you not invite the entire realm? You are royalty.” Anthony says and I shake my head no. "We are not getting married... although I have one side of my neck reserved just for him." I respond and Josey gasps at my boldness. "Then why are we here?" My father asks. The elders walk in, carrying an ancient book in hand.

Three elders, all here to speak words of wisdom and to facilitate the entire thing. I turn to face Xander, he looks at me confused and I just smile to ease his feelings before I open my mouth.

"Xander, you have proven to me and everyone in this room just how much you love me and how you continue to choose me every time. Today is all about you. You have changed my world, changed the way I see things and how to react to them. Waking up next to you every morning has changed the way I start my day and how I feel, your relationship with Drastos is a reminder just how you are important and that we should have never let you go." I say...

"Are you proposing?” Anthony interrupts me again and I roll my eyes but refuse to face him.

"It seems every time you come in to my life, I am going through something and every time, you help me to get through it. You comfort me and listen to me without judgement. Even in times where I have been a fool, where I could have used my power to keep us together, you remained steadfast, headstrong and guided me, even when it hurt you the most. I refuse to ever lose you, to go a day without you and the thought of one day, waking up to an empty space on the bed where you once laid, that cripples me. I have decided to gift you immortality and from today, you will stay with me for all eternity.” I say and the crowd gasps and Josey tries to pretend to be just as shocked.

"Are you insane?" My mother asks as she stands up and the chair screeches before falling the ground. My father joins in, dramatically standing up and the chair flies across the room.

"Sabrina, you realize what you are doing, right?" My dad asks me and I nod my head yes.

"You don't have to do this... I can live without a little immortality.” Xander says to me and I shake my head no. Everyone starts to voice their concerns over this, creating a noise over me and it starts to annoy me before I scream for everyone to be quiet and they all go silent. "Well, that kind of hurts.” Aiden says to me as he stands by the entrance, leaning on the door and we all look his way.
