Chapter 38
**Elena**
"Of course. I'd love to show you, but I have to warn you...I can be a little rough when I'm in work mode." Sebastian says.
Those words should make me afraid, but my wolf perks up in interest. The idea of Sebastian showing his strength and status as Alpha makes desire rise inside me. Our mate is strong. "I'm not afraid," I tell him and I mean every word.
He doesn't scare me. Not even a little.
"If you're sure. I need to go to pick up a few of my things for my home office. We can go...now if you want." He offers.
I nod excitedly. He doesn't realize my motives are selfish. I want to know him...understand him...know him.
"I'll get changed." He starts for the stairs but I stop him by speaking up.
"Should I change as well?" I glance down at myself and wonder if me dressed like this will embarrass him.
He walks toward me instead and I tilt my head back to look up at him.
"You look beautiful." A shaky breath escapes my lips when he reaches out and runs a finger across my chin and down the side of my neck. "Wait for me, okay?"
I nod and he steps back. My eyes follow him as he walks toward the stairs and disappears upstairs. I sit on the couch and wait for him. A minute later I feel the shake of my phone. I'd forgotten I had it with me, so I pull it out and see a message notification. I press the icon and the message opens. It's from a number not saved on my phone, but the message tells me who it is.
Unknown: Hi Elena! It's Sebastian's mom. I wanted to send you a picture to show you Eli is doing fine. (Image)
A small picture of Eli fast asleep appears under her message. I can't help the smile that takes over my face seeing him so content. He isn't afraid of her.
Answering messages is new to me but I find the correct steps to reply.
Me: Thank you. We are going to the office. Will you be okay?
I send the message and wait nervously. Will she feel taken advantage of if we leave Eli? Should he be with me?
Unknown: Of course he will be fine here. Take all the time you need.
Relief settles over me. Eli is fine.
It doesn't take long for Sebastian to return and it feels like the breath is knocked out of me. I'd seen him in dress wear already but now it's as if every nerve in my body comes alive at the sight of him. He's wearing a dark blue suit with a white shirt and I solid blue tie. The suit fits him perfectly in every way. He has slicked his hair back making his face seem sharper and very handsome. When he catches me staring the corner of his lip quirks up.
"How do I look?" He asks, but I'm not sure he means for me to answer.
"Incredibly handsome," I tell him truthfully.
His smile grows as he moves smoothly in my direction. I'm still seated but he doesn't seem to care because he lowers himself to one knee so that we are closer in height.
"That's all that matters....your eyes on me." He leans in and then brushes his lips over mine.
My eyes flutter shut and a fire erupts over my skin making me whimper for both pain and pleasure. Pain because of my desire for him and pleasure for the soft touches he gives me at that moment. When he breaks our kiss I subconsciously follow my body begging for more. He groans and quickly pulls away.
"We have to stop or I'll carry you upstairs and keep you in our bed for the rest of the day." His words come out husky and deep.
The sound makes me shiver.
"I'd like that." The words come out before I can stop them.
He chuckles and takes my hand from where it had been clutching his coat. I expect him to let me go and move away from me, but instead, he tugs it slightly encouraging me to stand. Then he fits our hands together and leads me to the door. "Your mom messaged me and sent a picture of Eli. He was sleeping, so he is doing well. I told her we were going to your office and she said to take our time." I tell him when we step outside.
He doesn't stop to lock the doors which confuses me. "Aren't you going to lock the door?"
"It self-locks when I leave the house." He says casually.
My eyes widen. "How?"
He steps up to the large black car parked in front of the house opening the door and stepping aside so that I can climb in.
"I have a special card in my wallet that is scanned when I come in and out. It locks the door when I leave and opens it when I come home." He says but it does not fully explain it.
I imagine any explanation would be far too advanced for me to follow. My knowledge is vast but not in the field of technology. So I decide to accept his explanation and not ask any more about it. He carefully closes my door checking that I am properly inside before walking around the front of the car to get in on the opposite side. Once he's buckled in he presses a button and the car rumbles to life.
"How?" I ask in wonder.
He smiles. "Joys of technology. This car is the best money can buy and the safest. I had it modified especially to ensure any passenger inside is safe from any kind of threat."
My heart picks up as ideas of what could happen filter through my mind. Is being around him that dangerous?
"Why do you need so much protection?" I ask.
He drives forward turning the car around and heads for the road we traveled on to get here.
"As Alpha, it isn't unusual to receive threats. Especially because I'm young not everyone agrees that I should be allowed to lead, and will try to kick me out of my position. There are also rouges who want to challenge me to push their way into my pack by force. So far I have t had to worry about attacks like that but I want to be sure. Our home is also designed for any eventuality. Later I'll show you everything and how to use it." He explains.
"Use what?" I ask.
He glances my way. "Things like weapons but also where the panic room is. Everything set up is to make sure you are safe if I'm away and can't protect you myself."
Fear unlike anything I have ever felt hits me like a fist. The idea of him being so far away that he can't protect me is scary. I don't want to feel weak and unprepared if I'm in danger. I especially don't want to be unable to protect Eli. So I will learn it all if it means I can keep us safe.
"Okay, I'll learn whatever you want to teach me." He gives me a tight smile and takes my hand threading our things together.
He gives it a quick squeeze and focuses on the road again. We sit in silence for the rest of the drive. Feeling his hand on mine is enough that the silence does not feel stifling. It actually relaxes me. We pass through the gate at the entrance of the property and the men stand there nod to Sebastian as we pass. Once we're through it doesn't take long before we are on a larger street are passing some familiar places. I keep my eyes out the window memorizing as much as possible so I will know how to get her if I ever need to.
The streets get more crowded and the buildings bigger the longer we drive and soon I see the building where I had taken refuge. It is beautiful from this point of view with the morning sun just kissing the tips of the large structure. Sebastian drove forward toward the building and I saw what looked like gates leading underneath the building. Odd...
He moved toward them and they opened as we drew closer. A man was waiting in a small building next to the gate and waved as we passed. I waved back making him smile. Sebastian passed several cars until he found an empty section big enough for him to stop. He pressed the button that turned in the car and it went silent. Once again he came around the car opening the door for me and held out a hand to help me out.
"Ready to see the other me?" He asks.
"I want to see all sides of you," I tell him and he smiles.
"All of them are yours. Every part of me is."
