Omega Lost

Chapter 14

**Sebastian**

She's beautiful. Even more so now that I can see her up close. She's small but fierce. Until she saw how outnumbered she was and then she cowered. My protective instincts kick in and I hurry to get rid of the cause of her discomfort. I signal for my security team to get the people away and when I'm sure we're alone I turn back to the she wolf. It feels like I can finally breathe.

It feels like I'm breathing for the first time in my life. This is crazy...

"It's okay. They're gone." I assure her holding my hands up in front of me so she doesn't think I'm a threat.

She must be trying to protect the pup who I have yet to spot.

"No one is going to hurt you." I crouch in front of her and level my eyes with hers.

I let my eyes shift so she can recognize me as one of her and that I'm an Alpha. No doubt she can sense it, but I want to make sure and I also need her to shift. Her head shakes and she whines a little. She's fighting the shift, but I can't talk to her like this. Besides...I want to see her...the real her.

She struggles and falls onto her side whimpering as the shift starts. I rush toward her feeling a wave of guilt.

"This isn't right. She shouldn't be in this much pain right?" I ask looking over my shoulder at Aria. "No." Is all she says because her attention has shifted.

I follow her line of sight and see a tiny ball of fur sitting behind the female wolf's struggling form. "He's tiny." She says softly. "Can't be older than a few weeks."

The female wolf whines more so I reach for her and hold her shaking form against me hoping to provide her with some comfort. She shakes in my hold until the feel of soft fur is replaced by smooth skin. The woman sucks in a few ragged breaths and clings to me as her body shakes violently. I hold on tighter to her to anchor her. Soon her breaths even out and her hold on me relaxes. A warmth spreads through me when she tips her head up and nuzzles her face against my neck. The warmth is replaced with a burning heat I have never felt before. I quickly push it away so I can focus on the woman in my arms...the very naked woman in my arms.

"Oh shit! Hang on." Aria grabs something from a pile of boxes that looks like a long winter coat.

I quickly wrap the woman in it the best I can with her still pressed against me. I've fallen onto my ass with her in my lap so I can't do much in this position. When she slowly pulls her head back our eyes meet and hers flicker from the hazel to the yellow of her wolf.

"W-who are you?" She whispers.

I give her a small smile. "I'm yours."

Her head tilts and I chuckle. "Don't worry about it. For now, let's get you inside and into something warm. You're freezing."

"Here let me help." Aria comes over and gently helps pull the young woman to her feet.

She quickly slips her arms through the jacket and covers herself before rushing toward the pup and pulling him into her arms. When she turns back to us she looks at us warily.

"Don't worry, we aren't going to hurt either of you. Just please come with us." I beg her.

An Alpha never begs, but it physically makes me ache to see the state of her. She looks too thin...too cold...too lost.

"We can make you something to eat. Give you some warm clothes and somewhere to rest.” Aria says softly.

The woman glances between us and narrows her eyes slightly. That makes Aria give me an amused look. The little she-wolf doesn't like Aria being part of this 'we'. She most likely doesn't understand why she feels that way but I like the sudden sign of jealousy.

She didn't seem to understand when I told her I'm hers. Honestly, it just slipped out, but it felt right. Even if I hadn't meant to say it I felt it. Everything inside me is screaming that she is mine. Aria was right...this must be the mate bond. If a mate bond is feeling an intense connection to someone so strong that you would kill and destroy the world for them. Then yes this has to be the mate bond. Except the woman doesn't seem to feel the intensity of it like I do. I'm not sure why but I'm too excited to care right now.

"Will you come with u-... me?" I stop myself from including Aria since that seems to make my girl upset.

She looks us over one more time and then her eyes fix on mine. That wave of warmth runs through me like a caress and the urge to touch her again nearly makes me trip toward her. I do my best to keep my feet rooted in place but when she gives me a small nod I can't help myself. I step closer to her taking one of her smaller hands in mine and slowly lead her out of the alley. **Elena**

What is happening?

The warmth and size of his hand around mine feel so nice. There is this steady calmness radiating from him that makes me trust him implicitly. I should be afraid of this strange Alpha but I'm not. In fact, I had buried my face against his neck... marking him with my scent. Why did I do that? It was as if I was outside of my own body. Maybe it was because I had just shifted and my wolf side was reacting to being near an Alpha. Maybe I would have reacted like that to any Alpha. No...this is different somehow. I'm distracted by my thoughts until we enter the huge building. My mouth drops open at the size of the room we're in. It's huge and there are two sets of stairs on either side disappearing behind tall walls with a metal logo of some kind. There is some sort of metal gate further inside where the man swipes a card to make it open. I follow but I'm barely paying attention to where we're going. A few people stop what they're doing and look at us making me feel self-conscious. I'm a mess. The jacket I'm wearing was given to me by a woman who has lived many years on the street, and it's seen far better days. The man doesn't seem to care as he leads me to a set of elevators. They are big and full of pale tiles except for the ceiling which is covered in mirrors. It's... beautiful. He holds a hand over a panel on the wall and it lights up making a sound and then we're moving. The pup whines so I hug him closer to me. The sound catches the man's attention and I bristle. His face softens and he gives the pup a look that I can't quite name.

"What's his name?" The woman on the other side of me asks.

When I first saw her I didn't like her, but being closer to her...she doesn't smell like him. That seems to make me hate her a little less. Don't ask me why because heck if I know. Wait...she asked his name. Shoot, I hadn't thought of one yet. I say the first thing that comes to mind.

"Eli," I say.

Eli had been the name of one of the kids belonging to our maid when I was growing up. He was a sweet boy that I played with once or twice until my mom found out and fired the maid. "He's so sweet." She coos at him and he yips happily at her making me smile.

He's so friendly and sweet with everyone.

"He is," I say in agreement feeling proud of the little guy.

It seems that living where he hadn't made him afraid of people. He's as cheerful as I suspect any other pup is.

"If it's okay I would like to look him over." She says.

Immediately I pull him closer and step away from her. In doing so I bump into the man but when he wraps an arm around my waist I don't pull away.

"It's alright, she's the pack doctor." The man's voice rumbles in his chest against my back.

It makes me suck in a breath but I keep my eyes on the woman. She smiles sweetly at me and nods.

"I want to make sure both of you are okay." She assures me. "Nothing dangerous. I would never hurt you."

She glances at the man briefly before looking at me again. "It would make Sebastian worry less if he knew you two are okay."

A low sound comes from the man and he tightens his hold on me.

"O-okay." If it will make him happy then I will.
