Notice Me Darling! by Cheap Treasure ( Natalie Shepherd ) Chapter 26

Chapter 26 Nothing Left to Lose

“Ms. Shepherd, I’ll end the call now if there’s nothing else.” With that, the caller hung up

The sound of the dial tone rang in her head. Nevertheless, Natalie remained

frozen with the phone in her hand.

She felt as though her heart had just plummeted from heaven to hell.

Everything she had worked hard to protect had disappeared.

Natalie snapped back to her senses when she heard the door opening. She had just realized she had slept in Henry’s suite the night before.

However, she was not in the mood to dwell on it. She quickly got out of bed and approached Henry, yelling, “Henry Chase, how could you be so despicable?”

Right then, as she stared at his handsome face, she no longer felt the same attraction she once had.

Natalie could not even understand why she had been blind in the first place.

What did she love about him? His ruthlessness? His willingness to do anything just to achieve something? Or how despicable he was?

Sometimes, all it took was one moment to be ultimately disappointed in

someone. Initially, Henry appeared somewhat gentle.

However, upon hearing what she said, his expression turned cold.

“What’s gotten into you so early in the morning?” he asked, looking at her sullenly.

“Don’t you know what you’ve done? Henry, how could you break your promise?” Natalie barked.

Tears slowly welled up in her eyes. “Is it fun to toy with me like this?” she added.

She wasn’t only hurt and angry because she had lost her family home. Natalie was also disappointed in the man standing before her.

All of the emotions churned within her. At the same time, Henry tightened his grip on the bag.

Suddenly, he felt like a fool. Why was he worried that she would be hungry? He even went out to buy breakfast for her.

Moreover, he had also gone to the pharmacy to buy medicine for her.

At the looks of it now, Henry felt he had no obligations toward a woman like her.

Natalie was not worth it. In fact, nothing about her was worth it.

“What on earth are you talking about?” The more Henry listened, the more. annoved he was.

“Weren’t you the one who ordered people to demolish the house? From the very beginning, you never wanted to keep it, right?

“All this time, you were just playing me for a fool, weren’t you?” Natalie bit her bottom lip, trying to refrain from crying.

All of a sudden, she hated herself. She despised herself for believing his words like an idiot.

After hearing what she said, Henry could not help but frown.

Someone had demolished the house! But why was he completely unaware of it?

Since he did not know the specific details, he could not give Natalie an explanation. Besides, Henry did not want to explain anything to her.

“Henry, once you’re back from vacation, we’re getting a divorce!” Natalie bellowed as she looked at him with determination.

After that, she walked past him.

Her eyes reflected disdain, resentment, and disappointment.

It was the first time Natalie had looked at Henry in such a way.

Deep down, a sudden pang of pain hit Henry. It was as if someone had made a slit in his heart.

“Damn it!” he cursed under his breath. How could she misunderstand him like

that?

Henry stood rooted to his spot and pondered for a few seconds. In the end, he still went after Natalie.

He blocked her way. Then, he said frustratedly, “I didn’t do it!”

“Then, tell me! Why was the house demolished?” Natalie questioned. She could not believe him anymore.

Henry was momentarily stunned. He could not give her a specific explanation.

Yet

in Natalie’s eyes, his ignorance turned out to be speechless. It was as if she had exposed him, so he was at a loss for words.

She sneered upon seeing his reaction. “What’s the matter? Fooling me once wasn’t enough, huh?

“Are you planning on messing with me again? Henry, if I believe you again, then I truly am an idiot!”

With that, she pushed him aside and strode toward the elevator. This time, he did not go after her.

Instead, he returned to his room with a grave expression.

Then, Henry immediately contacted Wade. “Find out why the Serenity Estate was demolished,” he ordered..

Upon hearing those words, Wade hesitated for a moment, too. After all, they were supposed to hold off on this project and wait for Henry’s instructions.

“Understood, Mr. Chase. I’ll get to it immediately,” answered Wade.

Henry furrowed his brows. Then he glanced at the breakfast and medicine he was holding.

After a while, he angrily threw them into the trash can.

He was determined not to do something so stupid anymore. A woman like Natalie would never appreciate his efforts anyway.

Before long, Wade called Henry. “I’ve investigated the matter, Mr. Chase.

“Tell me.” A cold glint flashed in Henry’s eyes.

“It was Mr. Davis, the construction department’s manager. He had made this decision on his own.

“He mentioned that he had messed up the previous project he was in charge of. That’s why he wanted to perform well on this,” Wade explained helplessly.

However, from the looks of it, Benjamin Davis had once again messed up.

“I’ve never seen anyone excel in failing other than him! Why did he make this decision on his own?” Henry bellowed as his expression darkened.

He had spent a good amount of money to purchase that piece of land. Besides, he had already finalized the development plan for the property as well.

Regardless, Henry had never thought of demolishing the estate.

“Mr. Chase, I’ve already asked them to stop this project. Do you have any other instructions?” Wade asked cautiously.

“Fire that fool! Also, let everyone know I’ll sue whoever dares to make decisions on their own from now on!” Henry massaged his temples in frustration.

Wade responded, “Yes, Mr. Chase. I’ll do it right away.”

After ending the call, Henry tossed his phone aside. He slumped on the couch and stared blankly at the ceiling.

He didn’t expect this to happen either.

But whatever it was, the Shepherd’s family home was now gone. Henry knew very well that Natalie was feeling upset. Moreover, he believed she hated him.

With that in mind, he considered calling her to explain. But as soon as the thought appeared, he sat upright.

Why was he even considering that? Why should he care about her opinions?

Thus, Henry decided not to explain anything.

On the other hand, Natalie had purchased the earliest available boat ticket. Upon returning to the city, she immediately rushed to the Shepherd’s family home’s location.

Although Wade had stopped the project at the fastest speed, it was still too late. The construction team had already demolished the Shepherd residence.

As soon as Natalie arrived, all she saw was rubble.

Everything was gone.

That was the place she had grown up, the place that had shielded and provided her cover for 20 years.

Yet, it was now gone.

Natalie felt terrible. She thought about how her father would see the ruins of their family home after getting out of prison.

Thinking about that made her sadder, and she struggled to catch her breath.

At the same time, her resentment toward Henry intensified.

Natalie’s family home was not the only thing destroyed. The last traces of her affection for Henry were also gone.

After the intense sorrow subsided, her gaze gradually turned cold.

Then, she took out her phone and texted Henry, “Meet me at the courthouse
