Notice Me Darling! by Cheap Treasure ( Natalie Shepherd ) Chapter 12

Chapter 12 Making It Official

Juliet was visibly upset. “You’ve never Henry.”

been like this

“Our past doesn’t matter!”

Henry frowned as he continued, “No one is coming in here without my permission!”

Juliet began to tear up.

It was evident that Henry had already developed feelings for Natalie.

He wouldn’t have delayed their divorce otherwise.

Juliet dared not ask Henry any more questions. He’d definitely despise her if she were to prod.

“I’m going to go home then.”

As Juliet left, she hung her head low to hide her tears from him.

Henry’s phone started ringing right after Juliet had left.

The sight of the caller ID made him freeze up in place.

Why was Natalie calling him again?

He answered the call with a cold, uncaring tone, “What is it?”

“You should come to the courthouse as soon as possible. I don’t want to keep on dragging out our divorce,” Natalie stated her demand at once.

She had finally made up her mind after receiving the photos from Juliet.

Natalie wouldn’t tolerate having her emotions invalidated further.

Since Henry clearly wasn’t going to get rid of the admirers flocking around him, Natalie decided to not expect much from him.

She wished for a peaceful separation so that she and Henry could move on from each other.

Henry pursed his lips firmly, choosing to not respond to Natalie at all.

“You have exactly one hour. If you fail to show up, I will hold a press conference and reveal our unpleasant history to the world.”

She hung up right away after giving out a warning.

The divorce should have been a quick and easy procedure. Natalie and Henry

Today also happened to be the third anniversary of their marriage.

It was ironic that the day of their marriage anniversary was focused solely on ending it.

Natalie couldn’t help but feel insulted as she thought about it.

She prepared all the necessary documents for their divorce before driving to the courthouse.

She then waited at the entrance to the courthouse for around ten minutes until a car pulled up in front of her.

Naturally, she was able to recognize it as Henry’s car.

Henry got out of the car with a grim expression. He then grabbed Natalie’s arm immediately.

“Stop trying to test my patience, Natalie.”

“Hey, you were the one who couldn’t wait to take Juliet home. I did my part by giving you lovebirds some space. You should be thanking me for being considerate,” replied Natalie with a smile.

Henry frowned as he began to ponder her words. “How did you know about Juliet being at my house?”

“She was so eager to rub it in my face, you know? Also, she was wearing the necklace you gifted her in the photos she sent me. A necklace that symbolizes the love of a lifetime… It really suits her too.”

Natalie continued mocking Henry, “Why don’t we hurry up and get on with the divorce so that you can make it official with Juliet?”

Henry’s breathing quickened, and his chest began to heave from the intense anger bubbling within him.

He began to lose control of his emotions as he growled, “That necklace isn’t-

He quickly realized that he was trying to come clean with Natalie.

When Henry recalled Natalie’s behavior, he decided to shut his mouth.

He saw no need to explain his circumstances.

So what if Natalie misunderstood him? He couldn’t care less about her opinions and thoughts!

Natalie raised her eyebrows in anticipation.

Deep down, she hoped for Henry to give a reasonable explanation. She still hoped that he would try to win her affection once more.

But alas, things never went as she had wished.

“I’ve checked the courthouse earlier. It looks pretty empty. We should hurry up and get this over with so that I don’t take up too much of your precious time.”

Henry’s phone started ringing right after Natalie finished speaking.

He glanced at her before answering the call.

The call came from Owen and Moira’s residence

“Mr. Chase, I have bad news for you… Mrs. Chase Senior fell down the stairs just now and got injured. She seems to be in a critical conditionl…”

The housekeeper’s words hammered down on Henry’s heartstrings.

He asked in a state of panic, “What exactly happened? How did she fall down the stairs?”

“I don’t know the details… But for now, both Mr. and Mrs. Chase Senior are at the hospital.”

“Which hospital?” roared Henry. His eyes started to redden from the overwhelming emotions.

Owen and Moira were the most important people in his life. He’d focus on anything which was related to them in a flash.

“They’re at Community Care Hospital!”

Henry immediately hung up and started to run back to his car. But Natalie tugged

on his arm.

“I don’t have the time to deal with our divorce right now!” roared Henry.

The usually calm and collected Henry unveiled a look of complete panic.

Natalie had clearly overheard his phone call since she had been standing beside

him.

She stated, “I’ll go with you.”

Owen and Moira were also important to Natalie. Naturally, she was concerned about Moira’s safety after receiving the bad news.

Henry didn’t refuse her. Instead, he got in his car right away.

Natalie then hurriedly followed suit.

The couple sat together in the back seat of the car, but neither tried to strike up a conversation.

Natalie noticed that Henry’s hands were clenched tightly as they rested on his knees. There was also a frown etched on his forehead.

She thought of consoling him but quickly dismissed the idea.

Why would Henry need her words of solace anyway? In fact, he might order her to shut up once he heard her voice.

The butler had been waiting for Henry and Natalie at the hospital’s entrance. He quickly approached them when he noticed them. “Mr. and Mrs. Chase!”

“How is Grandma doing?” asked Henry hurriedly.

“The operation should be over by now. Please follow me, Mr. Chase.”

The butler swiftly led the couple into the hospital.

Henry gradually quickened the pace, his face full of worry.

Natalie quietly followed by his side. She silently prayed for Moira’s safety, hoping that the incident was just a false alarm.

They took the elevator to the fifth floor. Finally, they arrived in front of the operating room.

Owen was sitting at the side, still holding onto his cane.

He slowly raised his gaze when he heard footsteps coming toward him.

Henry noticed that Owen still seemed to be lost in thought.

Feeling slightly panicked, he ran up to Owen. “Grandpa!”

“Grandpa!” Natalie took a seat next to Owen. “I’m sure Grandma will be alright. Please don’t worry too much.”

“It’s my fault.” Owen’s expression showed only deep regret. “I shouldn’t have asked her to help get my things for me…

“I should

“Grandpa, it’s not your fault… It’s just an accident.” Henry glanced toward the closed doors of the operating room while frowning.

“Grandma must have been worried about your bad legs,” Natalie added. “She wouldn’t have wanted you to worry so badly about her.”

Owen and Moira’s great relationship had always been the target of envy.

They proved that a lifelong companionship was the best confession of love a couple could make toward each other.

The doors to the operating room were opened the moment Natalie was done speaking.

Henry hurriedly walked over to a doctor who came out of the room. “Doctor, how is my grandma?”
