Not Rejected Just Unwanted

Chapter 15

RAINE'S POV.

"Raine?" Jonathon asked, taking my hand. Elijah growled at the sight.

"Elijah," I snapped at him. "You don't get to act that way. You might not have accepted the rejection but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. You are no longer my mate, and nothing is going to change that."

He dropped his head in shame. I let out a sigh before turning back to Jonathon.

"Even though I may have gone through that for seemingly nothing, he will still become your beta. He is still your best friend, okay? You still need him, and he still needs you," I told him.

"You aren't gonna leave until he and I work it out, are you?" he asked, letting out a light chuckle.

"Nope, and neither are you two," I answered, smiling at him. "Now kiss and make up."

I leaned back and looked at both of them expectantly as I waited for them to say something. We sat in silence for a few minutes as neither one wanted to say something to each other. I was almost about to give up when Jonathon spoke up. "You chose a lying bitch over your mate," he all but yelled.

"She is not a liar or a bitch," Elijah growled, trying to defend the woman he loved.

Jonathon abruptly stood up, glaring at Elijah. "Do you know why Raine was jumped after you took her behind the school?" It was obvious he was doing all he could to control his anger.

Elijah glared back at him. "She probably did something to deserve it," he said.

"Rose saw you take her and had some of her friends and their mates jump Raine to make sure, and I quote, 'she knew her place.""

"Jonathon..." I tried to intervene, but he was on a roll.

"And after you told her about Raine, she went to her house to make sure Raine was going to let you go. And it wouldn't surprise me if she was the one who jumped Raine in my room." "Jonathon," I tried again, as I tried to get him to back up and sit down. It took a bit of tugging, but I eventually got him back on the couch.

"You don't know the first thing about her," Elijah growled.

This was why I stayed with them because if they were alone things would get thrown and broken.

"Do you know anything about Raine? You said she probably deserved to get jumped, right? So, what do you think she would have done to deserve it?"

It was Elijah's turn to stand up and I was up in an instant to make sure no fists went flying.

"Her favorite color is blue, she loves to draw, her mother died when she was 10 and her dad has hardly been around since, every birthday she wished she'd find a mate to make her feel something she hasn't felt for so long. She wished she would finally feel wanted." Jonathon said, standing up once more. Elijah looked at me and tried to reach for me, but I backed up to Jonathon. I finally spoke up, keeping my voice very calm. "Rose made me an outcast for so long that pretty much no one knew about my existence. You didn't even know who I was when we met."

"Tell me, Elijah, how well do you know Rose?" Jonathon asked.

Elijah sat back down with shock and confusion all over his face. Silence filled the room as Elijah took in the information we threw his way. A slight knock drew our attention back to the door. Jonathon went and unlocked the door. Speak of the devil and she shall appear. Rose slowly made her way into the room causing Elijah to straighten up while I tried to put as much space between the three of us as possible.

"Rose, I want to know something," Jonathon stated, standing by the door. She looked over at him waiting for the question. "Were you the one who attacked Raine in my room?"

"Of course, I was," she said.

Elijah immediately stood up and walked over to her. "Why?" he asked, shocked that the girl he loved was the same girl standing before him now.

"To make sure she didn't steal you away from me."

"I wouldn't have. You knew that. What's the real reason?" I asked her coldly. "You have a mate now. There's no need to keep up the act with Elijah."

She smirked at me. "I wanted to make sure you still knew your place. I saw Jonathon take a liking to you and wanted to make sure you didn't get any bright ideas." She let out a giggle. "If I'm being honest here, you were always weak, so I made sure that you stayed that way."

Elijah let out a growl, but we were once again interrupted by someone coming into the room. I didn't recognize the man, so I didn't think it was someone in our pack. He turned to me with guilt in his eyes.

"I didn't know everything that she's done to you, but I hope you accept my dearest apologies for her actions." He then turned towards a shocked and horrified looking Rose. "I, Jason Ashmore, reject you, Rose Bell, as my mate."

Rose dropped to the ground much like Elijah did when I said those words to him. "I refuse to have a mate like you," he said, bowing to Jonathon before exiting the room. Rose got up and went after him in what I assume to be an attempt to get him back.

I looked over at Jonathon to see him walking to me. He took my hand and started to lead me out of the room, but I stopped him. "You and he still need to talk," I told him matter-of-factly.

He opened his mouth to object, but I cut him off before he could say anything. "Yes, he chose another girl over me. Yes, that sucked, but I rejected him."

It didn't seem like he was gonna budge. I let out a sigh, looking over at Elijah saying, "I like someone else anyway..."
