No Escape From the Ex-husband by Summer Winters

Chapter 2

Chapter 0002

“Mr. Ford is at work. He mentioned he prefers obedient women.”

Samantha chuckled. She had obeyed his every command for three years, but she was still being abandoned. She felt that she couldn’t accept this outcome.

“I want to meet him,” Samantha said firmly.

Jude remained unyielding. “I advise you to sign the agreement. At any rate, the Duncan family is no longer as influential as it was three years ago. Anything can happen to your family with a word from Mr. Ford,” he said as he narrowed his eyes.

Jude was threatening her.

Samantha clenched her teeth in anger. Unfortunately, she knew that he was speaking the truth.

The Duncan family was going downhill. Kendrick was not the same man as he used to be either.

Taking a deep breath, Samantha agreed despite the heartache she felt. “I’ll sign the divorce papers, but I want to see him one last time.”

She was afraid that Jude would refuse. She quickly added, “This is my only condition for agreeing to the divorce.”

Kendrick, her own husband, had not come home for three whole months.

Jude looked at the woman before him in surprise.

He was Kendrick’s right hand man and sworn brother. He saw how Kendrick was forced into this marriage three years ago.

At that time, Kendrick had just returned from abroad. The extended families were seeking control over Ford Corporation.

The Duncan family had a long standing relationship with the Fords. Despite that, they stood by the sidelines. They refused to help unless Kendrick married the Duncan family’s eldest daughter, Samantha.

In the end, Kendrick gave in. With the help of the Duncans, he regained control of Ford Corporation. He grew the company into one of the largest enterprises in the country within three years.

The hardships they endured were only known to them. Still, Samantha’s contributions to the company could not be denied.

After some thought, Jude got up and sought Kendrick’s approval.

Samantha held her breath and waited.

Jude turned around. He said without emotion, “Ms. Duncan, you must sign the agreement first. Mr. Ford will return in the evening, but he will only spare ten minutes of his time.”

Hearing that she was only worth ten minutes, Samantha hung her head dejectedly.

She held the pen and signed her name on the divorce agreement. Every stroke was executed with utmost seriousness.

When she marked the final dot, Jude kept the agreement away hurriedly and left.

Samantha sat in the spacious living room alone as time ticked away.

She finally got up and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Three years of marriage had transformed her from a radiant young lady into a tired housewife.

Her eyes were dull, her skin coarse, and her face was bare. Her colorful loungewear was a stark contrast to her pale complexion.

Samantha smiled and the reflection in the mirror smiled back bitterly. The ringing of her phone shattered the silence.

Samantha tried to ignore the call, but the caller’s persistence forced her to pick her phone up. Her mother’s name was displayed on the caller ID.

Samantha quickly composed herself and accepted the call. She was about to answer her mother cheerily when the voice on the other end hit her like a bolt of lightning.

“Ms. Duncan, be at the Enchanted Nightclub within half an hour. Otherwise, you will never see your loved ones again.” A sinister man’s voice was heard over the phone. His tone was venomous and chilling.

Samantha was about to respond when the call ended abruptly.

She immediately thought of her parents.

Samantha clenched her fists and ran out of the house. Her b*dy had acted before her rational mind could make a decision. Now that she no longer had a husband, she had to at least save her parents.

Samantha was very familiar with the Enchanted Nightclub. Before her marriage, she and her best friend often hung out there to relax.

She hadn’t set foot in that place since she became someone’s wife. She never expected to return under such circumstances.

The Enchanted Nightclub was brightly lit. Without hesitation, Samantha called her mom’s phone.

The same man answered the call. He instructed, “Come to the basement.”

Gritting her teeth, Samantha rushed over.
