Chapter 141
Chapter 141: The Wedding (2)
Penelope POV
The day had finally arrived. I had been anticipating how things would go, but everything just went smoothly. Sarah helped me with my dress and makeup. As she pinned the veil to my hair, she said, "You are so beautiful, Penelope!" I chuckled. "It's all makeup."
"Nah!" she said as she shook her head and busied herself with the pins. "I had worked closely with Freya also. She was always so..
guarded and snobbish."
I winced. Memories of Ria sinking her fangs in Freya flooded me
Sarah understood it. "Hey! Don't get riled up. I am sorry but it is hard not to compare you and Freya. I know she is dead for good, but after I have been with you, I can't help thinking as to why Alpha Drexel waited so long? Why was he fighting himself against you? You are so worthy of him whereas Freya was..." her voice trailed off. She adjusted the vein in front of me and came in front of me. "There was something always going on in her mind! We all came to know how she was siphoning off the money from Alpha's account." Sarah grabbed my shoulders. "Penelope, you must find out all about it, okay? I do feel there is more to it."
My shoulders tensed as I drew them back. "I will," I said as if promising myself
"And I can't wait to see your wolf!" Sarah added with a chuckle. "And your pups!"
I lowered my head as my lips curled up
Leo was waiting for me outside the room. When Sarah opened the door, Leo looked at me, stunned. "Gods, you are beautiful!" he said in a deep voice
"Isn't she?" Sarah clasped her hands
I wished that it was Steven who was going to give it to me for the wedding. Sorry, I was being selfish, but I couldn't help thinking that he was my only real family. He was also getting married today and his mate was pregnant with his baby
Leo led me to the sedan that was parked in front of the packhouse. Everyone was looking at me curiously. Even if I glanced at them, they would
immediately bow to me
The temple was a twenty-minute journey. Leo opened the door for me to come out and when I stepped out, I saw a sea of men and women in the premises of the temple. I froze. They were all looking at me with excited expressions Leo came by my side and whispered, "They are the Alphas and Lunas of the pack that are under Alpha Drexel and some are his allies. They all wouldn't miss a chance to see Drexel's wedding? Would they?"
I bit my lower lip and started nibbling it as I curled my arm around Leo and I think I grasped him too tightly
"Don't worry," he patted my arm. "You will do just fine."
Taking in a deep breath I walked in the middle of the crowd, keeping my eyes straight on the petal-covered path. I didn't know any of them, so I reserved my courtesies for dinner after the wedding
When I reached the corridor that led to the sanctum, my nostrils flared when his cedar scent hit me. I lifted my chin up as confidence rolled inside me. Walking down the corridor, my mate came into view. And my breath lodged in my throat. He was looking so handsome and seductive that my lips parted in a rough exhale. I started lusting after him as if the last four days weren't enough. And then my eyes went straight to his neck. I gasped. He was wearing the collar I gave him. I bit my lip as a blush spread on my cheeks
I came to stand in front of him and he said, "You look so beautiful that I can't breathe."
"It's mutual," I replied
Jarlen was ready. He smiled at me and looked at Drexel who nodded. Jarlen started chanting something in ancient language. He turned to us
"You can exchange the rings now."
Eric stepped forward with the rings in a blue velvet box. Drexel's hand was shaking when he made me wear it. After I slid the ring on his finger, Jarlen turned to the Goddess and chanted incantations
All of a sudden, we heard a rumble in the statue of the Moon Goddess. I whipped my head to look at it and what happened next was..
shocking
The closed hands of the Moon Goddess's statue were sitting on the sides when I entered the sanctum, but now the right hand moved. The
stone glided across the stone and something vibrated hard. The right hand stopped in front of Jarlen and then it unclasped revealing a knife
The knife had a gold hilt and the blade was that
of moonstone

Goosebumps prickled on my skin as I watched the whole thing. It was so amusing to see the marble statue moving. Jarlen took the knife from the outstretched palm. He turned towards us and said, "Give your right hand Drexel."
Drexel gave his right hand and opened his palm
He was looking equally amused. Jarlen slashed his palm right in the middle and blood oozed out
Jarlen looked at me. "Give your left hand."
I extended my left hand to him. He slashed my left hand and blood oozed out
"Join your hands," he said
And I joined my hand with my mates. All at once, I felt as if something snapped in me, something snapped in the right place. I gasped as I snapped my head to look at Drexel. He too felt the same and his jaws clenched. A silvery light sparkled from the heart of the statue of the Moon Goddess and it traveled to our joined hands. It curled around us and as it headed up towards the tip of the fingers, it healed our skin
The light twirled and then splintered into little white sparkles
Everyone was stunned
"T have never seen anything like this," Jarlen said, gaping at our hands. "It means that the Moon Goddess has blessed this wedding personally. It means that no one could stop this union!"
