Nine months too late After divorce (Sylvie and Kage)

Chapter Nine Months Too Late 8

Chapter 8

"Away from you," she glared into his face as she replied.

There were traces of dried up tears on her cheeks. It broke her so much to know her baby would be raised without a father.

Two steps brought Kage very close to her. "Why, huh? You going to meet the real father of that child?"

Sylvie scoffed, looking at him with disgust. "You're utterly unbelievable."

"Why? Is it utterly impossible that you'd slept around and carried another man's child? We've never liked each other, Sylvie You had no reason to stay committed to the marriage." "Well just because your third leg dangling between your other two doesn't know when to stop doesn't mean we're the same

She tried to move, but he got in the way.

"You can't blame me, Sylvie. There are two things - it's either you cheated, or you took advantage of my drunken self and forced yourself on me."

Fury ignited in Sylvie's eyes. This time, as she spoke, there was hurt in her voice. "Why? Do I irritate you that much? You think it's so impossible to touch me even while you're unconscious?" Kage offered no words. Sylvie chuckled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

I hate you just as much, Kage, and never want to see you again. So, get lost."

She brushed past him, but Kage gripped her hand.

"I need to hear it from you. Is it really mine? Or you slept around? If you did, who was it? Who did you cheat with?

"Let me go, you sick bastard!"

Exerting force, she pushed him off. Kage released her hand, but she lost her balance in the process. A scream erupted from her throat as she found herself tumbling down the stairs. "Sylvie!" Kage called in fright. But it was too late to catch her.

She kept screaming until she was at the end of the staircase. Horror filled her eyes.

"No, no, no" she muttered fearfully, staring down between her legs.

Kage had gotten to her.

"Hey, are...are you alright?" He was perplexed.

Sylvie didn't even look at him as she looked down at her legs. Then, it came the blood.

She closed her eyes and cried out in terror.

Sylvie woke up in the hospital, the overheard lights hurting her

eyes.

She gasped when she recalled what had happened and looked around.

"You're awake. That's a good thing.. Meredith's voice reached her ears before her gaze found her.

Holding a stethoscope, she walked up to Sylvie.

"How're you feeling, champion? She smiled.

Sylvie's eyes were sore from how much she'd cried on her way to the hospital. Kage had been driving, with her in the backseat. Then, she passed out. Chapter B

"My baby," her hand rose to her tummy. A lump formed in her throat as she remembered.

"Wh..What happened. Have I lost it?"

Of course, she had. She'd been bleeding. The thought of losing the child sent a dagger-piercing pain to her chest. God, she couldn't take it.

"Actually," Meredith sighed. "You did lose the child. But that was one of it."

Sylvie was about breaking into tears when Meredith's last sentence hit her.

Hold on, what?

With her chest heaving from how much she wanted to cry, she looked up at the doctor.

"Huh? L... I don't understand. One of...

Meredith smiled. "You weren't pregnant with just one child, Sylvie. You know we were yet to do a scan, otherwise I'd have spotted it before now." Sylvie's eyes widened in shock. "I was pregnant with twins?"

"Triplets, actually."

The revelation left Sylvie dumbstruck. She looked down at her belly and didn't know what to feel.

Goodness.

Gulping tersely, she returned her anxious gaze to the doctor.

"So, does this mean... She gulped again. "Does it mean I'm still pregnant with..."

"The twins"

Sylvie's breath seized in her throat. What the hell.....

She froze, her mind reeling

She hadn't been expecting twins - triplets if the other hadn't died. Would she be able to take care of them at all?

Despite how scared she was, it still broke her heart that she lost one of in the first place. She never wanted to lose any of her babies, even if it was sextuplets, no matter how frightening it might be.

She wept, thinking of the one she had lost.

"Where's Kage?" She sniffed, wiping her cheeks.

"He's been outside, waiting. I was just about to go give him the news..."

"Please, don't," Sylvie sniffed again. "I don't...I don't want him to know, Meredith. Please, can you do this for me?"

Meredith's brows gathered in a frown.

"Okay but why? I'm actually surprised you kept the pregnancy from him in the first place. It's Kage Hawkins we're talking about, Sylvie

Yeah, right. Any woman would be lucky to carry his child. But not when he didn't even believe he was the father.

Her chest tightened at the argument they'd had leading to the miscarriage. He was the reason she lost one of the babies. He'd even been displeased and saw the baby as an obstacle. So, it was only right she did him the favour. "I have my reasons, she sniffed. "Just please, could you do this for me?"

Kage was in the waiting room when Meredith arrived, her eyes rimming with sadness.

He stood up, keeping his gaze on her.

"How's she?" He asked.

"I'm so sorry, but she lost the baby. We did all we could, hoping we could save it," she lowered her gaze, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. Mr. Hawkins"

Kage was stiff. When Meredith looked at him, she could see the pain he was trying so hard to mask.

It took him a while to form thoughts in his head.

"So how's she?"

"She's trying to get over the loss. But she's upset and doesn't want to see anyone."

There was a twitch in Kage's nose. Taking a deep breath, he bobbed his head.

"I'll check up on her later, then, he muttered and left.
