Nine months too late After divorce (Sylvie and Kage)

Chapter Nine Months Too Late 43

c Chapter 43

The party was small and magnificent. Almost all the members of the One Trillion Group was in attendance, including Sylvie's father.

Sylvie couldn't help but smile upon seeing her father had just become a member of the Group he's always craved for. Seeing him laugh and mingle with the guests made her have no regret for agreeing to move in with Kage - even if the guy was a total a***le. She was with Westley the whole time. And when Kage arrived with Lana she tried as much as possible to keep her distance.

Westley kept introducing her to more members of the Group, and it wasn't hard for Sylvie to blend in with them as they found her really cheerful and accommodating. It has always been easy for Sylvie to get loved and accepted by people. Anyway, the more time Sylvie spent with these people, the more she realized not all their smiles and laughters are real. Yes, they may dress in expensive suits and dresses, and at such parties, they might come with expensive gifts for the celebrants, but not all of them was genuine. Three was a lot of bad blood between them - Sylvie realized as she listened to their conversations. There was an hierarchy in the business world, and one person always wanted what the other had

In this case, she believed the hierarchy was in the base of the One Trillion Group. There were power struggles in the Group. Sylvie didn't know much, but herinstincts hardly lied to her. She'd need to have a discussion with her father to be really careful with the way he mingled with the Group members. Westley, on the other hand, had other things on his mind. He worried about some of the Group members that were still against him.

Over the

the weeks, he'd been working with them, trying to convince them to start up a motion against Kage heading the current Group project. Kage's

family were the founders of the One Trillion Group, it didn't mean that every single project must be headed by them. As a matter of face, during the time of Kage's great grandfather, two members had headed two different projects. And during his late So, there was nothing wrong in them wanting Kage not to lead that very one. If more than half of the board members could come up with the motion, it'd be done.

Andfather a member - Westley's grandfather - had headed a project

Westley wanted to head the project by all means. Since the land was taken from him - irrespective of whatever Kage believed in - he wanted the project to be his. That way, he'd be getting more proceedings, and when the project is completed and it's fine to give honors, his name would be listed as the one who I led I the project

He couldn't let it be Kage - no matter what. That was why for the past weeks, he'd been working on buying the board members over.

The reason he tried sabotaging the building permit and building materials wasn't because he didn't want things to go on He's only been trying to buy himself more time.

It was very difficult getting the board members on his side as most of them were extremely loyal to Kage. He wouldn't even call it loyalty, he'd call it a**-leaking. Since Kage was very powerful, they were scared of going against him and getting on his bad side. They got that Kage could ruin anyone if he wanted-like he was currently suffering at the moment. Losing his top partners was still a blow he was trying to heal from. And Westley knew that was only a warning from Kage: he could do more if he wanted. His sister was right - Westley was powerful in the business world, but not as much as Kage. Out of the thirty-four members, he'd been able to get sixteen on his side. Those sixteen hadn't willingly agreed to help, but Westley didn't take no for an answer. He'd dug up dirt on them and had to threaten them with it. They agreed to be his on side, because they didn't have a a choice. Chapter 43.

But he needed more. The others were still being adamant. But he was still digging up on them and in very little time, he il be done. Everything would be over, with power handed over to him. His heart raced faster in excitement from imaginations of how Kage would react when he's forced to step down from leading the project. He wanted him to know he won.

"So, Westley, is she your girlfriend? Or you teo are just friends?" One of the men suddenly asked when Westley and Sylvie

stood before the table.

There were six other people on the table, and they'd all been drinking and chatting before Jonas asked the question. Their smiles widened, as they'd all been eager to know as well. Kage and Lana were on the table behind them, so he could hear. Westley was also aware he was there.

"To be honest,

you

two look like a couple. We've when talking about it, you know? We'd very much like to confirm," Penelope chuckled.

Smiling. Westley put a it a hand around Sylvie's waist. "Actually... Sylvie and I are engaged."

They gasped, their eyes beaming with both joy and I surprise.

"Oh, my God! It's even more than I expected!" One of the laughed.

"Oh, wow! This is great news, Westley. You such a brave man."

"And you, Sylvie, you really lucky, you know that? You just got out with Kage, and now it's Westley? I wish I had such luck in my youth.

lowered her head and smiled. But her heart beat faster, only because she knew Kage was behind them. Of course, she shouldn't give a shit about him being there and listening, but still.... She tried to feel comfortable, even with Westley's hand around her waist. Her dress was big and concealed her bump, but he held her, his fingers grazed it.

The

The people

on the table didn't drop talking about it. Kage huffed and walked away. Lana glared hard at Sylvie, angry at the fact that the conversation was enough to pi*** Kage

After a while, Westley took her to other tables. During one of the times when Westley was distracted and too engrossed in a conversion, someone walked up to her. "Hi, Sylvie, hope you're enjoying the party?" It was one of the group members Paul.

Sylvie furrowed her brows. "Yeah, I'm.. Im fine."

He smiled, waved at Westley before leaving.

Sylvie felt goosebumps all over. Paul didn't just come to check on her, he'd slipped a note into her hand when he was standing close.

She squeezed the note in her hand, hoping nobody had seen it. Then, when she was sure nobody was watching, she carefully opened the note by her side. The content surprised her even more. "There's something very important I must tell you. It's about Kage, and you're the only one I can trust. Meet me at the balcony in fifteen minutes"
