Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene

Chapter Nine Months Too Late 61

Chapter 61

As Sylvie and Kage left for work the following morning, she found him unusually cold. He wasn't looking at her face ams barely talked to her. He didn't look anything like the guy she'd cried to the previous day- the same one that'd offered her a drink, showed concern. He looked as though, they've been strangers for quite sometime... The few times she tried starting a conversation, he answered casually and let it run cold. Eventually, she got tired mad stopped trying.

It shouldn't bother her if he was being cold or not. But perhaps, she just missed the old him a little.

Hours later, Sylvie checked for Kage in his office. They were supposed to go out for a meeting, it's been more than thirty minutes already, and he still hadn't reached out to her. Nefther had he called or demanded anything of her that morning. It was strange. Reaching his office, his secretary told him he'd stepped out.

"Oh, do you know if he'll be back soon?" She asked, glancing at her wristwatch.

"Sorry, I don I don't. But it's been a while now since he left. Probably, he should be back soon." Bobbing her head, Sylvie returned to to her

She tried calling, but her wouldn't take his ice and waited. But an hour later, Kage was still not back. The meeting was important. Even if he had plans of cancelling it, shouldn't he have told her about it at least?

calls.

Kage had been in the office when he got a call from Lana, crying and asking him to come over. She was at her parent's mansion, so he had to hurry over, thinking something must've happened with the baby. But when he reached there, the baby was fine. Turned out she had a bad dream that she lost the child and was scared.

On a normal day, Kage would've lost it on her for pulling him out of the office over a mere dream, but he concluded it had to do with the hormones, and the last thing he wanted was act uncaring in times like this. he stayed

"Thank you for coming over, Kage," she spoke softly, her head on his chest as he cradled her. "I know you're busy, but I just.... I'm scared of doing this on my own.

"I understand. It's nothing." he sighed.

"You know, I really can't wait for the wedding. When we finally married and start living together, I think Hi feel safer."

He said nothing.

"Can you stay around while I sleep? I'd love to spend more time with you when I wake up."

Kage nodded, kissing her forehead. Her eyes closed briefly.

Kage had every reason to leave after she fell asleep. H wasn't the type to fulfill a sleeping woman's wish of staying behind. But somehow, when Lana's mother had come in and offered to see a movie with him, he couldn't refuse. A good distraction. 1/3 08:57 Thu, Oct 10

He sat there in the living room with her, barely touching his pop and drinks, and definitely not paying any attention to the movie. Instead, his mind dragged him to a certain lady, someone he wished he didn't have to think of. How does he handle two pregnant women, by the way? This was definitely not the way he'd planned his life at twenty-seven. Married - yes. But not expecting three babies in a year.

Perhaps, if only Marilyn was around, she'd have known what to do. She was always so good with words.

A small smile found his lips at the memories of her. He pushed them down, not wanting to think of her on a day like this.

Sylvie's countenance was down for the rest of the day, not just because Kage didn't get back to the office, but because he didn't take any of her calls and wouldn't get back to her either.

At the close of work, she was in the garage, heading toward her car when someone approached her. Oh, not just someone Kage's aunts. Oh, God.

"There she is," Elizabeth chuckled, hastening her steps. "We've been waiting for you."

Sylvie tried to ignore them, hurrying to her car. She dipped her hand into her bag, frantically searching for her keys. In the process, some of her snacks came falling out.

The second woman - Diane - gripped her wrist, stopping her movement. "Why are you in such a hurry? Isn't it obvious we came to see you?"

Sylvie looked up at her and wished she could really be away. "Please, 1...1 don't want any trouble. I just wanna leave. "Go home to my nephew's house, you mean?" She scoffed. "I think we both need to talk, girl."

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. Her heart twisted in painful knots as she remembered what they said to her back at the house.

The woman released her wrist, then glanced down at the floor. "With the look of things, you're still carrying those b**rds around. Did you consider our words a joke to you, Sylvie? You thought busy people like us would come together to simply have lunch with you?" Sylvie was silent, her eyes darting away.

"Stay away f from my nephew, you daughter of a whore!" Elizabeth stepped closer. "We're warning you." "Stop c The wom me that!"

other and laughed, then, the next second, their faces darkened.

"Don't you get it?" Elizabeth wagged her head. "You may be hardworking, and your family's not considered poor, but you're still not enough for him. We need someone as influential as Land. You really have no idea how much we prayed for your divorce." "And we're divorced already, aren't we? So, why don't you just let me be?" Her tone-was edged with frustration.

"Because those," Diane pointed at the belly. "Are getting in the way.

Holding her tummy protectively, Sylvie stepped back. "My babies have nothing to do with this. They didn't ask for any of this. So, leave them alone!

Td if it wasn't for those ba**ds, you wouldn't be with Kage right now!"

Elizabeth's eyes darkened as she stepped closer. "Stay away from our family! End whatever ***

especially has a lot of skeletons in his closets. You wouldn't want us to start letting them out, would you? The next time you hear from us, there'll be consequences."

Sylvie chomped down on her inner cheeks to stop her lips from trembling before them. But as they turned and left, her mask fell, her tears pouring down in heavy currents, She found her keys and hurried into the car, her hands shaking.

Oh, God, she couldn't do this anymore. She was losing her mind.
