Nine months too late: After divorce by Baby Charlene

Chapter Nine Months Too Late 10

Chapter 10

She scoffed, batting her lashes.

"Um. Do you really mean Fluxpoint?" She swallowed hard and asked.

This time, Ambrose looked at her. "Yes, you heard me. Sylvie

Sighing, he lowered his glasses

"See, I understand you use to have some twisted relationship with that family, but this is business, Sylvie You know I hate it when people can't differentiate between business and family"

His tone was getting angrier. Mr. Ambrose was an old, arrogant and impatient man. Sylvie knew it'd take him nothing to pull out of the deal and her company. Unfortunately, he played a major role in the business. "Of... Of course," she chuckled. "I perfectly understand Mr. Ambrose. And I don't have a problem meeting with them. When is the meeting:

He glanced at his watch. "By eleven. I already told them you'd be coming. Fll text you the location."

Great!

"Okay, then. That's fine

When Sylvie was done and left the office, she was tempted to scream. Punch someone

God damn it! She'd been trying so hard to keep her distance from Kage, yet Mr. Ambrose just had to somehow, get in the way.

Damn Kage as well. Why did he have to be so important? Why did she have to be at the receiving end?

Furious as well as nervous, she got into her car and was about turning on the ignition when her phone beeped.

As expected, it turned out to be a text from Westley.

"Hey. Done with Ambrose?"

Rolling her eyes, she texted back, yup. Apparently, I'd be meeting with Kage in three hours"

Oh. Why's that?

'He's a third party in the investment scheme Ambrose and I have going. I need to meet him to finalize the contract

'Oh. You sure you're cool with this? You know you could just pull out of this.

He sent another text immediately. I've told you. Sylvie. I'm willing to invest in your company. I'll give you the money you need to get it kicking on it's own again.

Over the month, she and Westley had developed some sort of friendship. Although her line has been unreachable for the first week, Westley didn't stop calling until he'd been able to reach her.

As a lady who was trying to heal from a divorce. Sylvie had become irritated at some point that he wouldn't stop calling.

But he was always so cool, until they eventually became friends. She hadn't told him she was pregnant yet.

When he learnt her family's company was suffering, he offered to help. But the last thing Sylvie wanted was being indebtest tos aman, considering what had happened between herself and Kage. So, she declined. With a wishful smile spread across her face, she texted back. Thank you, Westley, but I got this. You don't have to worry

His response took a little longer. I'll be there to pick you up

Sighing, she dropped the phone and hit the road.

His jacket was held by one of the maids who followed him behind as he descended the stairs. He worked on the sleeves of his white crisp shirt, while his hair was mare glossy.

He could see everyone of them seated in the living room, waiting for him. His parents, some aunts, uncles and cousins.

He let out a weary sigh as he joined them.

"You do realize you kept us waiting, don't you?" Ridge asked, a disgruntled look on his face.

Kage didn't even look at him until he was seated beside a cousin. Due to their large numbers, he couldn't sit alone like he would've loved to.

"Well, it isn't my fault that I'm so important in the meeting, is it?" He responded, his expression ever calm.

"Oh, please don't flatter yourself. We simply have to wait because you're heading the company at the moment," Clara said. She was a sister to Ridge, with big round eyes.

Phoebe scoffed, "At the moment? You sound like he isn't gonna head the company forever.

"Phoebe, we know your son somehow manipulated the old man into willing over half of the company to him, but it doesn't mean it's gonna last forever. A lot could change, you know?" Lisa Clara and Ridge's mother responded.

Phoebe's lips curled up in a smirk. "Dearest, my father in law had chosen my son for this position because he saw how diligent and passionate Kage was about the company. He recognized a true leader and trusted it all to him. So, if you think my son is ever gonna fail, the "Okay, that's enough!" Mr. Sam adjusted in his seat. Sam was Kage's father and had been the first son of his grandfather. He was of course, happy when his own son had become his father's favorite and ended up taking half of the company.

"I know we all have various things to do, he began. "So, I'd want us to go right to the reason I called for this meeting.

"So, recently, I received info that someone has been tipping Pulse-Wave, giving them vital information on our next project." Gasps rippled through the room, small mumblings passing across.

Pulse-Wave has been their rival for years. They dealt with gadgets as well, but no matter how hard they've tried, Fluxpoint has always been ahead of them.

"All twelve of us gathered here today holds important positions in the company, and this position grants us access to base plans. Now, for this information to leak, it can only mean one of us here is betraying us."

"Woah, Phoebe chuckled. "Well, I think it'd be quite easy taking a guess. There are very few people here who's held grudges against this family, as well as the company. Her eyes flitted towards three people seated at the corner. It was a lady and her parents.

"You should watch your tongue Phoebe. Not everyone is as power hungry as you are. You can literally sell off your own son for money. The mother lashed out.

Phoebe's eyes flared. "You fool! Don't you dare speak that way. I love my son more than you love that miserable daughter of

yours."

"Seriously?"

"You're sick, aunt Phoebe! Not sorry."

Light words were exchanged. The whole time, Kage didn't utter a word, not even to his mother. Instead, he kept checking the time, bored from the whole drama. The door burst open, revealing the thirteenth person.
