Chapter 607
"I've investigated Ted Chorley, the manager in charge of this project. There was a deposit into his bank account recently, and it wasn't from Sunrise Group but from an anonymous source. It's highly likely that he's being paid by both sides to do the same thing." Hudson pondered it for a moment.
"We definitely can't rule out that possibly because the last time I was in Matthew's office, I overheard that Sunrise Group had raised the profit share only to lower it again right after. It's possible that Spades gave him the orders to do so.
"It seems like this project is going to put Matthew in danger..."
Koven nodded and looked out the window.
...
"Are the minutes for the meeting just now completed?" Matthew asked Kent as he walked into the office.
"I had Sammy finish up the meeting minutes, sir."
"Good."
Then, Kent nervously said, "Mr. Leon, while you were in the meeting, there was a report from Mrs. Leon's side that I didn't get to inform you about."
Matthew stopped in his tracks upon hearing Lucy's name and turned to face Kent.
"What's the matter? Tell me now."
"Koven took Mrs. Leon out earlier, and they were gone for over an hour. When she came back... she looked quite happy." Kent's words sent chills down his own spine.
Upon hearing this, Matthew did not even bother putting on his coat. He immediately rushed to the garage, got into his car, and drove straight to Hudson's company.
Arriving at the building, he stormed upstairs and barged into Hudson's office, where he found Koven happily chattering away. Matthew went up to hit Koven but was stopped by Hudson, who had already predicted this happening.
"Matthew, have you lost your mind? Koven just took Lucy out to find some inspiration. It's not what you think it is," Hudson yelled, knowing why Matthew had come. Matthew relaxed a little after hearing his explanation but still glared at Koven fiercely.
Observing Matthew's demeanor, Koven calmed down and said, "He's right. I just took Mrs. Leon out to find some inspiration. Besides, the Hype and Elegance Fashion Show is coming up next month, and she's my apprentice. I can't lose her to
anyone else, can I?"
Only after that did Matthew turn and walk toward Lucy's office, with Koven and Hudson silently following behind.
Matthew quietly pushed open the
door and saw Lucy working on designs inside. He did not have the heart to disturb her, so he stepped back and nodded to Koven apologetically.
"Matthew, come to my office. There's something I need to discuss with you," said Hudson before exchanging glances with Koven. Confused by the situation, Matthew followed them to the office anyway.
Hudson poured Matthew a glass of water before taking a seat.
"Matthew, first of all, I'd like to apologize for accidentally eavesdropping on your conversation in the office." Hudson looked at him apologetically as he spoke. Matthew did not know what he was talking about at first, but he soon realized what was going on.
"It's okay. It's not a big deal."
Then, Koven spoke up, "It's about the anonymous investor involved in your collaboration with Sunrise Group. Would you like to hear more?" Koven said to Matthew. Looking at how serious both of their expressions were, Matthew started to frown.
