Chapter 36. Turned
I open the door to see my friend standing there with a pizza box.
“Hey it’s been a while, come on in.” I say letting him in.
“I know eh. How’s everything for you its been too long. You don’t come out often now.” He says putting the box on the table.
“I know I am sorry just seems I’ve become more of a night owl now more then ever and that I rather sleep in the day.” I say to him with a smile, sitting beside him. I inhale his scent and it causes my mouth to water and my jaw to hurt. That’s odd. Maybe I’m just hungry.
“Yeah. Well its still sunny out let me open the blinds.” He says getting up and opening them. I move out of the rays and he looks at me with a tilted head.
“Sorry just I burn really easy now.” I say and he closes the blinds.
“Something is different, are you sure your alright?” He asks me concerned.
We both sit back in the couch and turn the tv on aimlessly. I have missed hanging out with him and talking. He grabs a slice of pizza and sits back as I watch him. I smile as I lean into the armrest.
“Yeah I’m fine just feeling a bit off. It started when these two people came to talk to me about Dracula and vampires. Crazy I know right. Then all of a sudden that night I couldn’t sleep at all and stayed up all night. Tried to make comfort food. But things like garlic I got a bad rash from. The morning came and that’s when I felt tired and learned I burn easier than before. I know its weird.” I say to him about the things that have been going on.
“Hmm sounds odd. Kind of cool though that vampires are going around seeing who wants to be a vamp like door to door salesman. It’s interesting I must say. Have you tried going to your doctor or looking up what this may be?” He asks curiously before shoving his face full of food.
“No sadly. I can’t get an appointment when it’s good for me. I googled the shit out of this but everything leads to saying I’m a vampire and or what a vampire is and can’t take. I just know I’m hungry all the time, even if it’s raw meat, and that certain thing’s I can’t do.” I just have to adapt I guess.” I say shrugging get a slice of pizza myself. It’s good like always. I can taste more of the flavours. I sigh happily.
“Just suck it up and talk to a doctor or I can see about finding you a specialist ok.” He advises. I’m glad he’s concerned about me. I’m glad he doesn’t think I’m a freak.
“I will.” I say rolling my eyes at him and he laughs.
