Myths & Magical Beings

Chapter 27. Snow Globe

I wonder what this crystal-like thing is. While I move it around there’s little white stuff moving around falling onto the park on the inside of the crystal dome. It’s pretty and mesmerizing. When the white stuff settles, I move it around again.

“What do you have there Flo?” My friend asks as she swim up to her.

“I don’t know what it is but its pretty.” I say without taking my eyes off it. I can tell from my peripheral vision that she’s also watching it.

“Where did you find it anyways?” She asks me curiously.

“I was just meandering around the river up the way and saw the light shining of fit and thought I’d come sit here and figure out what it is.” I say as I see some dryad’s come out of the trees near by. Maybe the light caught their attention the same way it caught mine.

They kneel behind us and watch the flakes fall again and again after swirling around the glass. It’s peaceful especially with everyone being so busy and doing one thing or another. Taking this time to relax and enjoy something so simple is really nice.

The sound of someone clearing their throat behind us made me jump a little. But I’m not the only one.

“Leave it to the nymphs and dryads to get distracted and get enjoyment out of a snow globe.” The centaur says with a slight smile on his face and he shakes his head in amusement.
