Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Trevon was cutting into his steak with class when he glanced at Selina and said, “So, where’d you hang out today! You seem pretty pumped”

Just caught up with Malcolm. He zipped back from Mumzik just to give me a hand with some legal stuff: Selina said, popping an oyster and grinning. “Man, this is the good stuff–so fresh, not too heavy, and totally juicy!

Trevon was about to dig into who Malcolm was but noticed Selina had a bit of sauce on her face. He grabbed a clean napkin, leaned in, and wiped her cheek for her

Selina blinked, kinda surprised by Trevon’s move

“You had a little something there. If you’re loving the food, make sure the folks in the kitchen know,” he said quietly.

“Thanks,” she grinned, then got right back to tackling her dinner

Trevon sat back down, ready to chat some more, but he just shook his head, watching Selina go to town on her plate. He kept stealing looks at her. Selina, the same girl who aced the Dark Web as the hacker Charm, now just living it up like anyone else. Trevon was intrigued, thinking, “Selina, oh Selina, who are you, really?”

That was when Devin walked in, all serious “Mr. Brady, Mrs. Brady, cops are at the door. They’re talking accident stuff and need Mrs. Brady to help

with their case”

Trevon eyed Selina asking, “You mixed up in this?

Selina, done with her meal, dabbed her mouth with a napkin and coolly said, “Nope, but I’ll help out.”

“Alright,” Trevon stood up. Tm coming with you.”

At the police station, the officers were kind of uneasy seeing Selina again. They just deal with her and Manuel’s drama yesterday, and now she was tied up in a car wreck? Talk about bad luck. But they had to get on with it, so they started with the questions. “So, just to be clear, no beef or racing before the crash‘ This was all him going solo!”

“Yes, I made sure the security cam footage was super clear, I sayed away from him the whole time, Selina said with a calm vihe

Indeed, the security cams showed that Caleb’s Lamborghini hut the machwork because he wasn’t paying attention. The only thing Selina did wrong was speeding that was it, no other Laws broken. The second Selina saw the crash, she dialed 911 and got the nearby cops to hurry over for help, Without Selina stepping in fast, Caleb would’ve been in real bad shape.

Just then a lady barged in, all fired up “Who’s responsible for my son’s car crash?!”

“Mrs. Thompson, please, try to keep your cool someone tried to calm her down.

Cool! My son’s in the hospital, lighting for his life!” Caleb’s mother, Maddie Thompson’s glare landed on Selina, full of poison. She barked. “It was you! You did this because my son’s tight with the Harvey family, because he’s Manuel’s best bud! You went after him!”

“Mrs. Thompson, you might wanna swallow those words. Keep talking, and youll be staring down a lawsuit Selina snapped back, all frosty–like. “Got any proof I went after him? Like the officer said your son would’ve been in bad shape if I hadn’t called for help fast. Instead of saying thanks. for saving his life, you come at me with these crazy chims. Real nice.

“You! Cut the fake sympathy! Selina, you gonna say you had zero to do with this?” Maddie was boiling over

“I’m totally saying that. Why don’t we wait for Caleb to wake up and ask him if his zoning out and speeding caused the whole mess? If he can’t handle his fancy car, he shouldn’t be showing off–don’t want his family crying over something dumb,” Selina said, as sharp as ever, and her ice- cold words made Maddie super mad. She fumed inside. The nerve of her, saying stuff like that about my son- is too much?

“Enough” the cop cut in “Mrs. Thompson, no more drama! This is a police station, not your living room. We deal with facts here, not street corner fights” He laid it out straight. The tapes show your son wasn’t paying attention. It’s sad, for sure. If Ms. Harvey hadn’t called right away, it would we been way worse. He showed Maddie the proof right there,

Maddie was boiling with rage. Just the day before, Caleb had ranted to her about how Selina treated the Harvey family, acting like they weren’t even related and wanting her own brother in jail. She figured someone like Selina was nothing but trouble. I want the whole thing looked into again! She must’ve done something to my Caleb. My boy’s careful, never reckless, and he belongs to a racing club. He knows how to handle a car. No way he’d mess up like some newbie! With eyes that screamed for revenge, she glared at Selina as if she could take her down with a stare.

Selina, cool as a cucumber, stood up gracefully. “Officer, I’ve done my part, told you everything. Can I head out?”

Sure, Ms. Harvey, you’re good to go.”

The cops were over Maddie’s dram. This was no small case— Group’s bou. They had the security video inside out The facts were straight–Selina was clean, and Maddie’s constant griping was really grating, they were talking about big names like Trevor’s wife and the son of the Thompson. especially since she was acting nothing like the classy woman she was supposed to be

“What! You’re just gonna let her leave! No way? Maddie was desperate to stop Selina, but Trevon’s icy tone sliced through the noise. “You. Don’t Allow!” It was a question, but it felt like a freeze ray straight to her core. Maddie looked over at where the voice came from and saw Trevon, one hand in his pocket, standing tall and owning the room. Just the sight of him, especially that chiseled face, had her speechless. Those blue eyes had a look that could scare her right out of this world

Maddie didn’t know Trevon, but after years in the elite circles as the Thompson familly’s matriarch, something told her this dude was no average Joe
