Sara's face stiffened, unable to fathom how Selina managed to climb into Trevon's good graces. Even if Trevon was merely toying with Selina, keeping her as a secret lover, there was no need to go to the extent of officially registering their marriage and moving Selina out of the Harvey family. One could only assume, as Quinton suggested, that Trevon married Selina, an unsophisticated country girl without even a middle school degree, to block outside gossip and as an act of rebellion against the Brady family. He paraded her as a trophy wife to vent his discontent.
Ashley assumed a pitiful look, though her eyes wandered enviously between Charley and Edwin, finally coming to rest on Trevon's retreating figure. Even though Charley and Edwin were outstanding, they simply couldn't compare to Trevon. His charisma was magnetic, attracting gazes like moths to a flame.
Yet this compelling man had chosen Selina, the country bumpkin infinitely lesser than Ashley, even marrying her. Ashley was driven to madness by this truth, despite knowing that Trevon was merely playing with Selina. It was only a matter of time before he discarded her like the uneducated trash she was. But Ashley couldn't allow it. Such an exceptional man could only belong to her.
As Ashley plotted to create a scene to draw Trevon's attention and remind him of Selina present, Trevon suddenly stirred. Ashley instinctively put her best face forward, but Trevon's gaze didn't linger on her for an instant, instead fixed on Selina, who had just entered the venue.
