My Wolf and I

Chapter 16 ✔

AIDEN

Jayvee sat with me on the couch, but he didn’t sit next to me. I had thought we were going to cuddle and watch a movie together, but he started talking.

“My family and I... we haven’t been completely honest with you. I don’t have an easy way to say this. You’re the first I’ve told outside of my family, and this isn’t really something we a taught how to do. I-I’m a werewolf.” He said and held his breath.

Werewolves... like in dad’s coma. That thought made my heartbeat quicken and breathing hard. “Werewolves? Like you turn into a wolf?” I asked trying not to show my panic and failing.

“Yes, almost everyone in this house can shift into a wolf. But no one would hurt you, I wouldn’t allow it, ever. You see, when we are made, we are made whole, but we are ripped in half, we call this other half a mate. Normally we would find our mate around the age 18, I-I’m a little late.” He blushed slightly.

Am I not his mate? Isn’t that why he’s telling me? I thought with a frown. “I-I hope you find them, Jay. I’m sh-sure they’re out there.” I tried not to let my voice tremble. I looked at the ground, not wanting to let Jay see the tears in my eyes.

“The thing is I already have.” He said softly, happily. My heart was being ripped out of my chest. Of that, I was sure.

“S-so you want to break up.” my voice shook, tears started falling from my eyes. “I-I can move out.” I started to get up to start packing but Jay grabbed my hand. “J-jay please don’t make this hard.”

“Aiden, stop.” Jayvee demanded pulling me back onto the couch. He pulled me into his arms and ran a soothing hand up and down my arm. “You didn’t let me finish Sugar. Just listen to everything before you speak, just breathe.” I took a shaky breath and nodded. “I was supposed to find my mate when I turned 18 but I didn’t, I was sad, but I decided to just focus on finishing high school. When I didn’t find them, I decided to focus on college. When I started, I smelled something sweet in the halls but couldn’t chase it.” He paused to kiss my head. “Then this semester started, and I bumped into this really cute boy. He’s cute, with brown hair, honey eyes, he is so passionate about cooking. I even found out it was his dream to own his own bakery.”

I didn’t know why he was telling me about someone he was leaving me for. It pissed me off, he couldn’t leave me. I glared at the couch as he continued talking about some whore who was taking him away from me.

“But he was taken, by an asshole he had been with for ages. So, he didn’t like me flirting with him. I decided to try and let it be, thinking that he’d be mine soon enough. Not too long after that, I invited him over to bake and we had sex. But I marked him, I had a marked mate that wasn’t even mine.” he shook his head. “To my luck, he broke up with his piece of shit boyfriend. Only problem, he had nowhere to go. So even more to my luck, I got him to move in with me.” I sat up and looked at him, shocked. “I’ve known we were meant to be together since the day we met. Aiden, you are the love of my life. My mate. I should have told you sooner and I’m sorry.”

I started crying but those were tears of joy instead of despair. “Jay... I’m so happy. But I just have one question.” I continued when he nodded “What is a mark?” his face paled, and he avoided eye contact.

“So, you see. When a couple who is mated, has sex, they mark each other to seal the bond. It’s like a claim to tell others that they’re taken. I was a little distracted when we first had sex and I marked you.” He scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

“So, you staked your claim on me before I gave you permission? Is that why the bite mark didn’t go away?”

“A mark is permanent because mates aren’t like a married couple, there is no divorce. You’re kinda stuck with me forever.” He smiled sheepishly. “But there are plenty of perks to it so it’s not like you’re going to get bored. For explain, the mark is like a horny button, super sensitive.”

As if my brain was working in slow motion, I realized something important. “I have to call dad! He was right! He has to know!” I stood up to look for my phone.

“Aiden you can’t tell him, or anyone,” he said pulling me down to sit. I looked at him confused.

“B-but he’s my dad, I tell him everything. I have to tell him. He’s been researching the existence of the supernatural since he woke up from his coma. This would make his year.”

He looked conflicted and scratched his chin. “How about I tell you everything else and show you my wolf, then we talk about maybe telling your parents.” I grinned at him happily before kissing his cheek. “Let’s get started...”
