My Vampire Queen

Chapter Chapter Seven

Caine had told me that he indeed has to eat while in this realm. When I asked him what he wanted, he didn’t know because food had changed a lot since he was last here. So I went to the grocery store, grabbed a good amount of snack foods I liked, then went to a place called Baba’s. It’s one of the best restaurants that was kind of fast food, that’s only a few blocks from my uncle’s house. I ended up ordering so much that I could have been catering a small party.

When I get home, my uncle’s car is gone, Thursday, the day he goes out to his sisters and plays poker. I at least don’t have to deal with talking to him for an hour when all I want to do is eat and grill Caine for information. I made my way inside, and dropped off some food with my mom, with her happy and occupied. I didn’t have to worry about her coming into my room. Armed with a bunch of food, I grab a TV tray I keep stocked in my room. The food I can fit on it goes there, and the snacks on my dresser.

Caine appears on my bed, I move to sit next to him on my bed in front of my desk and I open my laptop. “What do you know about the world as it is now?”

“Only what I have seen,” Caine answers me, he starts pulling food out of the bag. “I am a fast learner, but I do need to be refreshed on things.”

“Then we will watch some TV shows,” I told him. Then I realized he might not even know what the fuck a laptop is. How do you explain the internet to someone? “TV shows are like plays, but you can capture it on a device and replay it on a screen. Technology has come so far you don’t even need actors, you can just have people draw and paint and make movies or shows like that.”

By the twisting of his face, I didn’t make much sense, I would struggle to explain things to him. “I’m not sure how to explain things. I’m not sure how it works, but I can try.”

Turning to the laptop I turn it on. “Laptops are small portable computers, computers let you do a whole lot of things, from talking to other people sort of face to face, to talking over super fast mail. You can watch plays, movies, TV shows, you can play games.”

“It’s powered by electricity,” Caine said and I nod looking over at him. He had pulled out all the containers placing them on the bed in front of him where he sat back without shoes and his legs crossed. “I had heard small things when with your father, electricity was explained, cars were explained, large scale plumbing was explained. Most things I’m seeing are not.”

“I’ll try teaching you about the new stuff, and you teach me what you know about Queens,” I said then go through the food, opening things and telling him what they are. I might not be able to explain technology well, but I could explain food.

The question I had now was, do I start Caine on documentaries to learn about things or do I play more classic movies so he knew pop culture references? Or maybe something in between like a historical film?

A few hours later Caine is laying on my bed without pants, or his shirt, snoring because he found that he likes the food. I think he ate more than I eat in a week. I didn’t get to question him about anything because his mouth was always full and his attention was on my laptop screen as we watched a movie. I decided to start packing my things, it was late enough that everyone was asleep. Caine snored right through it, though to be fair, I didn’t have much to pack. Some clothes, my nail polishes and makeup, my books and stuffed animals, but I left my movies.

I didn’t have much I was super attached to, stuff I wanted to keep. The fact that I would have more money than I knew what to do with helped me give up my old stuff because pretty much everything is replaceable. After doing a once over I finally turn off my light and fall into bed.

“You should feed.” I almost jumped out of my skin at Caines soft words. He rolled over to face me, grabbed my hip, and pulled me forward so I was almost pressed against him. “As you grow into power you will need to feed quite a lot, blood, food, and sleep.”

His scent, the calm soft way he was speaking made me draw closer to him. My arms against his hot chest, he radiated heat like a heating blanket, before the heat would have made me uncomfortable, now it was comforting. “I don’t know what to do.”

Caine’s hand runs up my back, dragging my shirt with it. I hesitate for a moment before sitting up just enough to pull it off. My plain white bra isn’t very sexy, but I was glad I wore this one and not my falling-apart black one. As I lay back down his hand goes to the back of my neck, bringing my face to his neck. “Suck and bite.”

I wanted to giggle because I’m 12 apparently. Nuzzling his neck, feeling the scars as I brush my lips against his neck was a different sensation. I took his flesh in my mouth sucking on it like I would for a hickie, and bit down softly.

Just in that small action something inside me rushed to the front, his smokey scent, his warm flesh in my mouth, I moaned. No blood came out, but I wanted it to, my throat started to dry, and my teeth ached. Yet I had no fangs to bite him with. His hand tangled in my loose bun and he ripped me away from his neck, a whimper of disappointment left my throat. “I hoped your fangs would be in, but being stunted for so long it may take a little while.”

“But I want more.” My throat hurts, and I doubt a gallon of water would fix it. I wanted to eat Caine, to drink him down as I felt his body against mine.

Caine rolled slightly back so his other arm was free enough to show the knife in his hand. Too fast for me to see, there was a neat cut on his throat, as he rolled back towards me, he let go of my hair and I lunged on him.

~A few hours later~

“Is this it?” Tabitha asks and I nod. With a look on her face that makes her look like she might cry, or break something she heads to the driver’s seat. I head to the passenger.

“I only have sweatpants and t-shirts for clothes.” I wave my arm down to what I’m wearing. “Yesterday I wore the dressiest clothes I have. Besides clothes, it’s mostly beauty stuff, books, and a few random things.”

My whole life, at least what I wanted to pack fit in two duffle bags, two backpacks, and two large storage tubs. My mom had seen me get up early, then saw all the packing and burst into tears. She hasn’t spoken to me yet, but she at least knows I’m leaving. I can’t say I’m too sad about leaving.

“When we get to the house, I’ll give you all your cards, then you can go shopping.”

“I don’t need much.”

Tabitha is shaking her head, brows furrowed as she watches the road as we make our way to my new home. “You are a Queen, you should have more clothing, more things. Plus you need clothing for special occasions, business meetings, meeting Queens and so on. You will need a whole wardrobe, or multiple preferably.”

“So you want me to go out and buy a shit ton of clothes?” I asked, shaking my head at her. “I get needing fancy clothes for special occasions, but I don’t need more than that.”

There’s a huff from her. “Just do me the favor of going to different stores and looking around, if you don’t like anything don’t get it, but if you do..”

I had to cut her off with another shake of my head. “The problem isn’t me not liking anything, the problem is me liking everything and racking up a hundred thousand dollar bill.”

This rips a laugh from her, at my serious face she just smiles. “I don’t care if you spend five hundred thousand dollars on clothing, jewels, and whatever else. Just if you decide on buying a piece that costs more than fifty grand you warn me so I can make sure the cards don’t close on you.”

“So no cars?”

Another laugh. “If you want another car we can look into it.”

That would be something dangerous, unlimited money to buy whatever I want, even a new car. “On a different note, I would like to suggest something,” Tabitha says and I wait, after a breath she speaks. “I would like to put a human detail on the house.”

“A human detail, like guards around the house?” I question her.

“There is more to worry about than other Queens, thralls for one. If you aren’t in a nest, thralls will be a huge danger, even with your demon.” That seemed to worry her, but I had to ask.

“What is a thrall?”

“They are vampires that have gone feral.” She puts it simply, no beating around the bush with this one. “Most are Blood who have lost their Queen, after that bond is gone they lose their minds. Thralls that were once Blood can turn humans into thralls, those are more like zombies that listen to their master. Less dangerous unless in numbers.”

“Well, that would have been great to know earlier.” It was said more to myself, or to Caine. “If you have people you trust, I’ll accept security for outside, I don’t want people in the house.”

“There is a large shed we can make into a security shed.” She throws me a large smile. “I do trust them, I’ve been personally working with the head of the company for ten years now.”

“If you trust them then I trust your judgment,” I tell her, gaining a smile from her. The next half hour is just driving. Once at my new home, Caine appears and helps me carry my things to my new room. Tabitha is on the phone with the security company. She ends up giving me my new credit card, ID, and driver’s license then hustles Caine and me into the car, telling me to not come back until the car is full of stuff.

The first thing I did was go and get a new phone, along with two cases that I could switch in and out. Then we went out to get brunch, I will rather be feeding off of Caine than the crazy amounts of food he decided to order. But I had fed twice, once last night, and just before Tabitha came and got us, I could last a little longer. For now, I’d have to settle for Mcdonald’s breakfast food. I haven’t been here in years but Caine wanted to experience the most popular fast food place.

I decided to eat in the car, where I can sync my phone. It was still blowing up with messages, from Dylan, from my old boss, and then my dad messaged once. Probably only because my mom talked to him. I don’t know why, and I didn’t care to find out yet.

Caine lets out a moan beside me, he has been doing this with almost everything he’s tried so far. “Do demons gain weight?”

“No.” He answers by taking another large bite of the biscuit sausage sandwich, halfway through chewing he says. “Your body is going through a change most Queens go through from birth. Your body is going to be on overdrive, so eat, once I am ready you can feed from me again.”

When he mentioned it, I wanted to feed again. I knew I had taken a lot last night, and then this morning I had taken quite a bit. He wouldn’t last at this rate unless he has some really good blood regeneration going on. Instead of latching myself onto my demon, I unwrap a sandwich and take a bite.
