My Substitute Wife Wants A Divorce by Lucy Arabella

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Frank halted, furrowing his brows as he shifted his gaze toward the direction of the kitchen.

What is this woman doing, being so clumsy? Or is she deliberately making such noises to attract my attention? At the thought of the second possibility, Frank’s eyes darkened instantly.

He was about to ignore it when another sound, a woman’s exclamation, reached his ears.

Maria’s voice, tinged with a sob, was heard. It echoed in the silent night. “It hurts.”

Frank’s eyebrows became even more tightly knitted. ‘What a troublesome woman!” he thought.

He turned on his heel and walked towards the kitchen.

Maria remained seated on the floor. The glass pot in her hand had shattered, and the remaining hot oatmeal had spilled.

Her eyes were lowered, and her brows furrowed. She was searching her pockets with one hand, attempting to find tissues to tend to the cut on her other hand that was now bleeding.

When she heard footsteps again, Maria looked up in astonishment. She saw that the man had returned.

Shocked, she completely forgot to tend to her bleeding wound. She looked up at the annoyed man who approached her with large strides.

“Why are you back again?” After saying this, Maria realized she had misspoken.

This was his home, and he could be wherever he wanted.

Frank stood in front of Maria, looking down at her. His cold gaze fell on her bleeding finger, growing even more frigid.

He spoke uncourteously, “Maria, you’ve indeed gone to great lengths to get my attention.”

A jolt went through Maria’s body. She knew he would react like this. Everything she did was to capture his attention!

“I haven’t. My legs were numb from sitting, and I accidentally fell and got cut. I can handle it myself!” she retorted stubbornly, biting her lower lip.

Although she was forced to marry him, she didn’t want to be humiliated and slandered repeatedly by him.

She also had her dignity!

If possible, she truly hoped that while Nina was in a coma, the two of them wouldn’t have to meet!

Frank raised an eyebrow. He thought, ‘So, she was finally beginning to refute me. It seemed she was about to reveal the claws she had been hiding Snorting, he told her, ‘It’s better if that is the case. If I find out this is your new way of seducing me, you will pay the price!”

Frank’s fair and slender hand, which had been in his pocket, extended toward Maria. His voice remained exceptionally icy. “Get up.”

Maria did not expect Frank to help her up. Stunned for a moment, she raised the hand that was bleeding. When she saw the coagulated bloodstains on her fingers, her heart skipped a beat.

She knew Frank had an obsession with cleanliness. If her blood touched his hands, she was sure he would shake her off immediately.

Withdrawing her hand at once, she lowered her head and whispered gloomily, “I can get up by myself.”

Her hand was too dirty. To prevent him from disliking her again, she might as well slowly get up by herself, supporting

herself with the kitchen counter

The deliberate refusal from the woman made Frank frown. His tone became even colder, like spikes of ice. “Maria, don’t make me repeat myself.”

The large hand remained extended in front of her.

Maria hesitated for a moment, then switched to her other hand. Before clasping Frank’s hand, she wiped it slightly on her clothes to ensure that any residue from the hot oatmeal was gone.

Then, she raised her arm and placed her delicate and soft hand into his large and sturdy one.
