Chapter 7
Read My Past is Just Prologue By Louisa Dillon Chapter 7 - The Lady
Her words were simple but oppressive.
The entire conference room was instantly silent.
Those people who were opposing Janet suddenly froze.
The heirs of the Longfellow family could fire anyone except the members of the board of directors.
Barrett was just a manager.
Barrett was furious and looked at Conrad. "Director Doherty, what do you say? Do you really want her to fire me?"
After all, he had worked here for a long time and spent so many years with Conrad. He didn't believe that Conrad wouldn't help him!
However, Conrad noticed Janet's resolute and indifferent attitude and glanced at Barrett coldly. "I am no longer the president. If she said you were fired, you should go through the resignation procedures later."
Janet had just come to the company. Before he found out her reason for coming, he wouldn't confront her.
Barrett's eyes turned red with anger. Before he could scold Conrad, the secretary kicked him out of the conference room.
Although the others were dissatisfied with Janet, they were shocked by her resolute attitude.
They could oppose her, but they cared more about their jobs.
They must not end up like Barrett.
Seeing this, Janet smiled.
"I have a bad temper, and I hate people who oppose me casually. I hope everyone can learn from it. After I check the project
and ensure there is no problem, I will naturally let it continue. I hope you can understand. Dismissed."
After coming out of the company,
Janet took a taxi directly to the villa where she had lived before.
In the past three years, even though her memory had recovered, she did not dare to go back to this house.
She was afraid that the familiar scene would make her miserable.
But her uncle told her he was afraid this house would be taken over by her aunt's family, so her brothers kept guarding the
villa for her.
If she came back to live there, even if he was a bit busy, he could still see her from time to time.
Besides, living with her brothers could give her comfort so that she wouldn't feel lonely.
However, her aunt and uncle also lived next door, and she might see them anytime.
Thinking of this, Janet's eyes suddenly became a little colder.
When she returned to the villa, she was stopped by security guards before she entered the gate.
"Stop!"
The security guard in a turquoise uniform stopped Janet.
He saw that Janet was dressed in a suit and got out of a taxi, so she was obviously not wealthy. He said in disgust,
"This is a high-end area. How could someone like you break into it? Get lost..."
Janet glanced at her house, then at the unfamiliar security guard. "I am the owner of this place, and my last name is Longfellow."
"Haha!"
The security guard seemed to have heard a ridiculous joke.
"Small girl, big words. How could you afford to buy a house here? Go away, don't bother my work!"
He was about to grab Janet's hand as he spoke.
Janet's eyes darkened, and she was about to shoot her silver needle.
"Stop! This is Ms. Juliana. What do you want to do?"
A mid-pitched voice made both of them stop.
When the security guard looked back, he saw a group of s*rvants running to the gate, forming an array as if they were welcoming some important person. His aggressive face suddenly turned pale.
"Ms. Juliana? Miss, I didn't mean it. Please forgive me!"
As he said this, he knelt in front of Janet with a flattering expression mixed with remorse.
But Janet didn't look at him.
She pinched the loose cuffs and said calmly, "My family doesn't welcome flunkies."
The next second, two tall men dragged the security guard away.
Only then did Janet look at Lawrence Locke, whose eyes were moist.
"Welcome home."
As Lawrence said with a choked voice, everyone said loudly in unison, "Welcome home, Ms. Juliana!"
The s*rvants, whether they knew Janet or not, were extremely respectful at the moment, fearing that they would become the next security guard.
Janet nodded lightly, then patted Lawrence's arm. "You've worked hard these years."
After a welcoming ceremony, the s*rvants sc*ttered away, and Lawrence led Janet to her former room.
After the door was opened, it was still as she remembered it, and even the magazine beside the bed was the same as when she left that year
She knew that it was her third cousin Beacher Smedley who had been taking care of this room.
Thinking of this, her heart was filled with warmth.
Even though she was dazzled by love and had a big fight with Beacher because of Nathaniel, he still loved her as much as before.
Only this place could make her feel the warmth of home.
Unlike the warmth and tranquility here, the other side is in full swing.
On a mountain road, two cars are chasing after each other. The speed of red and blue was so fast that it was blurred. This championship competition had already turned into a game of life and death!
This once-in-a-decade racing competition was the glory that all racers had always been chasing. Everyone presents held their breath and focused for fear of missing a second.
In the dazzling red racing car, Beacher was holding the steering wheel. He had rebellious and arrogant eyes, looking at the blue racing car behind, and a smug smile appeared on his handsome face.
He was sure that he would win this championship!
However, at this moment, a broadcast suddenly sounded in his earphones, "You have a message from the butler. Do you accept
it?"
"Yes."
It was probably just another reminder to make him pay attention to safety or something.
"Mr. Beacher, Ms. Juliana is back."
These words made his beautiful eyes sparkle.
His youngest cousin was home!
Without any hesitation, he made a turn.
Everyone was looking at the big screen and saw that the red racing car that had already exceeded a certain distance drove
directly out of the racing track!
At the same time, Beacher's friend's exasperated voice came in. "What are you doing? Are you crazy? This is the final! If you leave the track, you will be directly disqualified!"
Beacher raised his eyebrows, and his attractive voice was filled with joy. "My little cousin is back. I want her to see me first!"
"Isn't your relationship a mess? Why did you go back as soon as she came home? You can finish this game in half an hour, and
you can't even wait?"
His friend was furious, and even the sound of teeth grinding could be heard on the phone.
But Beacher disagreed and interrupted him, "In my heart, she is more important than winning. Forget it. You don't have a
cousin, so you won't understand."
Then, he cut off the contact.
"What's so amazing to have a cousin?" His friend thought angrily.
Janet knew nothing about this drama. She was looking at the family portrait in a trance.
The family in the photo was smiling happily.
At that time, her mother wasn't a vegetable, and her father and elder brother were still alive. She was carefree, and they were
the happiest family in the world.
If it hadn't been for that car accident, her family would not have been ruined.
She must find the murderer and make them pay with blood!
Janet seemed to see that bl**dy night again. She seemed to feel that strong embrace. That man saved her, but he forgot her.
So even if Nathaniel didn't love her, she was still grateful. From now on, they could live well on their own.
The phone rang, and Janet came to her senses.
