My Orphan Mate

Chapter Chapter Thirty-Five

LYRA

"I think it's a girl."

"No, it's definitely a boy."

"Does it matter?"

Ava and Jaxon glared at Adam. "Of course it matters!" the girl cried.

"I mean, as long as the baby is healthy," Adam shrugged. "The gender shouldn't really be an issue."

"Oh, sorry, party pooper," Ava responded, rolling her eyes.

Adam, in return, looked dumbfounded.

"It's okay baby, we will have a girl when we try for pups," Matteo murmured to his mate.

"I bet you'll have a boy," Jaxon taunted, and wiggled his brows at Ava.

"Shouldn't you be looking for your mate?" the girl sneered.

Jaxon shrugged. "I'm in no rush to find her. That shit seems too cringe for me anyway, I mean look at the two of you." He pointed to Ava and her mate, and faked a shudder.

Ava picked up a pink dummy from the table of goods and aimed it at Jaxon, who swiftly ducked. Instead, the pink silicone piece landed on Dyami, who snarled in return.

"Does whoever threw that want to die?" he bellowed.

"Oops, sorry," Ava quickly apologised before diverting her gaze.

I chuckled softly at my best friend. Our lives had changed an insane amount within months.

We had gone from rarely seeing each other, to always being around each other. And that was all thanks to my mate, who was currently stood behind me with his arms wrapped around my waist.

He had learned to trust them quickly because of their protective instinct for me. And that had been evidence enough to prove their loyalty. Regardless, I was incredibly grateful.

As if on cue, Alexander's arms tightened around me, bringing my focus back on him. My breathing hitched slightly when I felt his lips on my ear.

"When are we trying for pups?" he whispered low enough only for me to hear.

I could feel my face heat up at his question and I let my eyes roam over my friends, to make sure none of them had heard my mate before I looked at him over my shoulder.

"Technically, we have been trying for months now," I reminded him, teasingly.

My mate grinned and pecked my cheek. "I suppose you are right. I'm waiting for the day you tell me the good news."

His words made me frown. "You want to have kids?"

Alexander chuckled lightly. "Not right now, baby. I am not ready to share you with those dirty little creatures, yet."

I sighed in relief and leaned in to him, letting my back rest against his chest. We were definitely not ready for kids yet, but the thought of having them was nice.

"You do want pups, eventually, right?" he asked, curiously.

I smiled at the thought. "Eventually, yes."

My mate grinned against my skin and he pecked my cheek again, trailing kisses down my jaw until he settled on my mark.

"Mhmm," he hummed. "You are perfect, baby."

His lips on my skin was starting to excite my Wolf, it wasn't the best time or space for it. But I couldn't push him away. It felt too good.

I was grateful when Dyami snapped us out of it.

"Everyone ready?" he shouted, holding up the big round black balloon in his hand.

Zynthéa smiled widely at him before placing her hand on top of his. Dyami returned the smile before wrapping an arm around her waist.

A countdown of ten seconds began, before the pair popped the balloon and blue confetti poured out. Zynthéa pouted slightly but Dyami embraced her quickly. That was enough to cheer her up and she squealed excitedly.

"I told you," Jaxon taunted, his gaze on Ava. "A boy!"

"I guess Adam was right, gender doesn't matter," Ava pouted and sipped on her long island iced tea frustratingly.

Adam scoffed, but didn't say anything, instead he took steps toward the couple and congratulated them.

I relaxed in to my mate as we watched our friends congratulate the pair, before it was our turn and we headed towards them.

"Congratulations!" I squealed, hugging Zynthéa as tight as I could despite the big bump between us.

"Can you believe it? A boy?" she squirmed, excitedly.

"He's going to be perfect," I assured her.

"Of course he is," Dyami scoffed. "With a father like me and a mother like her, this pup is going to break hearts."

I frowned at him, but Alexander chuckled by my side and embraced the pair, congratulating them.

"I wanted a girl," Zynthéa whispered when our mates got lost in conversation.

"I know, you did," I replied, gently squeezing her hand to bring her comfort.

"Was it that obvious?"

I nodded. "You're going to love him, don't think about it too much."

She smiled. "I love him already that's why I felt bad initially when I was disappointed."

I wrapped an arm around her, she had such a good heart. The rest of the conversation consisted of what names she was considering and how terrified she was of the birthing process.

The gender reveal party continued for the rest of the day. Zynthéa would be giving birth any time now, and to find out that she was having a boy, was exciting my mate more than I thought it would have.

"A nephew," he stated, shaking his head with a smirk on his face.

We had just returned from the party and he was in the process of unbuttoning his shirt.

"Having an Alpha uncle is scary," I told him, shuddering at what the poor pup was going to face.

"Not as scary as an Alpha father," my mate retorted playfully, finally pulling off his shirt.

The conversation was behind us and I couldn't even think about it when he was stood in the closet topless.

My eyes roamed over the defined muscles on his chest, and I bit my lip eagerly. My Wolf was purring in excitement.

Alexander seemed oblivious at first, because his gaze was on the shirt in his hand. Once he dumped the shirt in to the laundry basket, his eyes caught mine.

He arched a brow, but before he could say anything, I launched myself at him.

Alexander hardly had time to react before I latched my lips on to his and pushed him against the closet wall. His arms quickly found their way around my waist, holding me tight.

"Easy, tiger," he murmured against my lips.

My tongue pushed inside of his mouth, bringing his own to life. The kiss was heated, and I found myself moaning in to him. My hands were wildly running over his naked upper body, letting my nails dig in to his shoulder.

Alexander tightened one arm around my waist, meanwhile his other began to lift the peach coloured silk dress that I was wearing.

In a swift motion, he had the dress pulled above my head, leaving me standing before him topless.

He examined my face and body for a second, admiring me completely, before returning his hands to their previous position— on my waist.

"You're so beautiful," he murmured, bringing his face closer to mine.

I didn't have time to respond when his arm around me picked me up, making me wrap my legs around his waist. His hand settled on my lower back to hold me up.

Our lips met again, and this time it started off softly, before he pushed me up against the wall, roughly. My hands ran through his hair and over his shoulder frantically as the kiss intensified. All I could think was, how good his touch on me felt.

I wasn't sure how many rounds, positions and places later, the both of us breathed heavily when we finally came to a stop.

Alexander pulled me in to his naked chest, and I snuggled closer in to him on the bed.

"I cannot tell you what the future holds," he randomly said, making me narrow my eyes.

"Hmm?"

"The things we dealt with in the past, that you dealt with," he muttered, rubbing his fingers on my lower back soothingly. "I never want anyone to suffer like that again, let alone my Luna."

I smiled in to his chest before placing a soft kiss on his skin.

"It's something we are still coming to terms with, but I'm sure history won't repeat itself," I assured him, quite confident to know no one else was as crazy as Gabriel.

Alexander placed a soft kiss on the top of my head. "Marry me," he blurted.

My head perked up at his words and I stared at him with my mouth hung open.

"What?"

"Become my wife," he responded, nonchalantly. "I want you to be mine forever, in every way possible."

"Alexander," I whispered, hardly believing his words.

I mean, being mates already put us at an advantage of securing a future together, but for him to propose to me, that stirred every emotion inside of me.

When I had been so scared thinking that I was going to be stuck with Gabriel, never in a million of years would I have ever thought my future guaranteed a life beyond my expectations.

"Baby, is something wrong?" Alexander asked, concerned.

Tears streamed down my face but I buried my head in his chest, his arms quickly comforted me. They were tears of happiness.

"Yes," I whispered in to him, laughing through the tears.

"What is it?" he asked, before pulling away slightly to look down at me. "What is the issue? You do not want to marry me?"

His words confused me at first until I corrected the confusion.

"I meant yes, I will marry you," I explained, smiling widely.

The corner of his mouth lifted and he grinned widely, before flipping me on to my back and hovering above me. I laughed in the process and wiped away at my tears.

"Mrs. Rathborne, it will not be a tradition if we don't have crazy sex right now," he proposed devilishly.

I gawked at him but let him have his way with me. Hearing him call me by my new surname made my Wolf and I want to cry in happiness.

Lyra Dane was the timid, orphan girl in the past who had been suppressed by lies. Lyra Rathborne, on the other hand, was the Alpha's daughter who was currently Luna to the biggest pack in the country.

As the thoughts settled on my mind, I allowed myself to fall back in to the pillow. I watched eagerly as Alexander's lips trailed kisses down my chest and stomach until he settled himself between my legs.

Lyra Dane, or Lyra Rathborne, I moaned in content at how perfect life had turned out to become.

The life that I had envisioned was hardly comparable to the life that I had been given. My reality was beyond anything that I could have wished for, and I silently thanked my parents for it.

The end.
