Chapter 17
"Hysterectomy?" Catherine knew that this would mean that her hopes of having grandchildren were dashed again, and she almost collapsed on the ground when she felt faint. At half past eleven in the evening, Albie went to bed earlier without celebrating his birthday. Bella's face was filled with worries as she watched her son sleep peacefully. She was worried about Ruby's baby. Although Ruby was abominable, the child was innocent after all.
"Bella, are you asleep?" Then Jason's voice came downstairs.
Bella lived on the second floor of the clothing store. She dressed up and went downstairs. Jason was looking up the stairs anxiously.
"Is Albie is asleep?"
"Yes."
"What happened to your arm?" Jason saw Bella's arm wrapped in gauze and asked with concern.
"I'm fine. How's Ruby?"
"Her baby was gone and her uterus had been removed." "How did this happen? I really didn't mean it. " Bella didn't expect the consequences of her push was so serious.
"She brought the blame on herself. It was not your fault." Jason comforted.
"What about Edw..." Bella hesitated a little. She had never seen that person since the wedding. Occasionally she could read his news from the newspaper. Now he often appeared in the commercial version instead of the entertainment version.
It seemed that the label of "playboy" that has been stuck for many years has been replaced by "business leader".
Bella knew Edward was not a promiscuous person. Even after marrying her, the president's secretary was replaced by a man.
However, it was inevitable for a person who works hard in the market to socialize, and his capacity for liquor was very good. No matter how late he socialized, he would go home. It seemed that only lying beside her was the surest thing for him.
But now this man did not belong to her, even if she was willing to show her heart to him.
Bella's heart ached again when she thought of it. Maybe she hadn't learned anything about forgetting.
Jason understood what she thought. "Edward should have known about this, but he didn't go when I came back, but don't worry, Edward is a reasonable man."
"OK." Bella felt somehow lost and empty. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She hoped Edward would come to blame her. Then she could at least have a look at him again.
Bella knew that she was disappointing, but she just couldn't control her heart. It turned out that the end of a relationship was not a breakup, but a mutual forgetting in daily life. But how easy was it to forget? "Mum! " Albie suddenly ran down the stairs and jumped into Bella's arms.
"Why are you awake?"
"I saw my father, so I came down."
"You are not dreaming, are you?" Bella touched Albie's forehead anxiously.
"No, I saw him standing there on the balcony." Albie pointed his hand under a nearby street lamp.
Bella walked over with Albie and only saw cigarette butts left everywhere, which was the brand of cigar Edward used to smoke.
"Is Dad gone?" Albie held Bella in some disappointment.
"You were wrong. That's not your father."
"What? It's exactly the same as the photo on your necklace. He's wearing it..." Albie tried to defend.
"That's enough, The truth is what I told you." Bella took a look at Jason's complicated eyes and dragged Albie back.
"Edward was supposed to have been here, why were you fighting with a child?" Jason gave a wry smile. Couldn't he replace Edward in Bella's heart?
"It has nothing to do with me. Anyway, I'm done with him. " Bella had been pretending very well these days. She didn't want others to know that she still had feelings for Edward. She just wanted to keep some poor self-esteem.
