My Invincible Husband Has Returned

Chapter 30

Chapter 30

The Walkers’ sudden activity caught the attention of virtually everyone. in Drunham City. A lot of the smaller families were beginning to feel. anxious, trying to figure out if they were the ones who crossed the Walkers. The entire city seemed to be engulfed in a cloak of

impending doom.

Meanwhile, a scrawny old man was perched on the couch of Howard’s office, staring at him with a knowing look. “Mr. Mosier, the Walkers are hosting an event in a few days that will involve three thousand or so people. This event will be held around Walker Mansion, and I hope that the police will stay out of this. I won’t be able to guarantee what will happen if the police intervene without

reason!”

The Walkers were just as arrogant even toward the chief of police himself!

Howard scowled, infuriated at having been threatened so outright. He smacked the table and snapped, “This is the police, not your backward, Keith! Are you trying to threaten me? Are you disregarding the entire law and judicial system altogether? Do you know that’s a very serious criminal offense?”1

He could not believe how cocky the Walkers were! Did they think they were almighty in this city and could do whatever they wanted?

“Of course, I know that, Mr. Mosier! You’re the chief of police, after all, but might I remind you that our own Charles Walker is the head of the Southern Division of the military? Besides, we’re not even going to do anything illegal. We are simply hosting a get-together that we hope the police will not interfere with. No one likes a spoilsport, right? I hope you can reason with this, Mr. Mosier. It won’t be fun to mess with someone you’re not supposed to!”

With that, Keith stood up and left without so much as a glance.

The moment Keith disappeared out the door, Howard hurled his mug in the direction he left in and shouted, “Who do you think you are, Keith? How dare you threaten me right in my territory? You Walkers are insufferable! You’d better hide your trails well…or else!”

At this moment, Howard’s second-in-command, Gordon, returned from his mission and arrived just in time to hear Howard’s angry cries. He finally knocked on Howard’s door and asked, “What’s wrong, Sir? Why are you so angry?”

Howard sighed when he saw it was Gordon and retorted, “Didn’t I tell you to keep an eye on Jade Manor? What are you doing back so soon? Did something happen?”

A sheepish look crossed Gordon’s face. “Sir, nothing happened, but Trent Walker is being held captive there, and he’s howling so loud that everyone within a mile radius can hear him. It’s as though they’re torturing him or something. Should we…”

“Let’s not interfere! Tell everyone that we’re not allowed to intervene no matter what we hear! If anything, just pretend you’re deaf! Just keep an eye on Jade Manor and make sure nothing fishy is going on. The Walkers need to be taught a lesson!” Howard scoffed, but his mood lightened after hearing that Trent was caught and was possibly being tortured by Liam.

All of a sudden, he recalled something and leaped out of his seat. He grabbed his keys and sprinted out the door, but before he left, he instructed Gordon again and again not to intervene no matter what happened.

Plenty had changed in seven years. Celena could hardly see the man she knew before in Liam. He had become very mysterious, and she could not see through him.

Liam saw that Celena was starting to get worried again. He smiled and comforted her, “Don’t worry. I did as you said seven years ago and went to the north. I joined the military after that. Don’t overthink it. Just recuperate here in peace and spend time with Jovie. Leave everything else to me.”
