Chapter Her step sister's plan
The rain poured down heavily, accompanied with a thunderstorm every once in a while.
In the dark and isolated area, a graveyard was situated. Rows of tombstones were arranged. And in this heavy and merciless downpour of rain, the thin frame of a woman was kneeling before a particular tombstone.
Her clothes were drenched and got stuck to her tiny frame, highlighting her curves. Her straight long black hair scattered and stick to her chubby face. Her big eyes had turned red, obviously from crying. But in such heavy downpour, one couldn't easily tell if she was actually crying.
"Mother, i am passing through a terrible experience right now. Are you seeing me?" The voice of the woman muttered.
"I once told you I married a good man, do you remember?" She asked, with a sad smile on her lips.
"Truth be told, i did marry a nice man but I don't know.............." She trailed off as her eyes brimmed with tears.
"He suddenly changed Mom. I don't know why but he suddenly changed. And right he.....he.....he" she sniffed.
"He is now with Madison. I don't know what you or i did to them. They want to make me miserable mom. They just don't want my happiness."
"Now she has my husband in her claws. He wants to divorce me. Mom why did you leave me exactly. If you were........"
"If you were alive, I know you wouldn't let them treat me like this, right?" She asked and smiled self depreciatingly.
"Mom what should i do now? He wouldn't relent on his decisions Mom. He really wants to divorce me"
"He gradually became my happiness ever since we got married. And now he is tired of me and wants to leave me for Madison." "Mom, what should i do?"
In this night in another side of the earth, a tall figure stood at the top floor of a building. He was looking down.
His thoughts drifted away as his eyes stared into space.
"1
Snacky, are you still smiling? Are you still happy?" He asked no one exactly.
"Please be happy and keep smiling because for that reason only i let him have you" He muttered sadly.
He allowed her to stay with the person she was happy with but was he also happy? He didn't care. Because they say when you love, you should be willing to sacrifice for the person you love. But did he make the right sacrifice?
Next morning.
Amelia Pearls stumbled into the villa. She was feeling dizzy and her legs were shaky and she felt numb.
She wanted to go upstairs when she caught glimpse of someone inside the kitchen.
Who was it? Ethan couldn't possibly be cooking right? And besides that didn't look like the tall man at all.
She knitted her brows and took a step backwards. She then walked into the kitchen.
Indeed the person in the kitchen was not him but Madison Puff.
"What are you doing here?" She asked with a displeased tone as she frowned.
The girl turn after hearing her voice and then eyed her indifferently before returning to what she was doing.
"I am asking you Madison! What are you doing here? This is my house and you can't barge in as at when you like" she repeated with a high pitched voice.
"What does it look like am doing? I am making breakfast for my man, of course" She replied sarcastically.
Amelia felt her blood boiled as her eyes turned red in anger. "Are you so shameless. Claiming a man who is not yours"
"Should i repeat it again, Amelia?" She asked casually.
"Repeat what? I don't care about anything. Leave my house now!" She yelled.
"I think you should be the one to leave" a muscular voice sounded, followed by the sounds of footsteps.
She snapped her head to look at him. "Why should i leave? I am the wife here and she's the outsider"
"That wouldn't be for long sweetie. Ain't you getting a divorce?" Madison said and picked up a tray, to start arranging the food in it.
She walked up to him with the tray in her hands and he pecked her lips.
"Are you leaving now?" She asked, seeing him wear his neatly, ironed suit.
"Yes but we should have breakfast first" He said tenderly and rubbed her head before sitting down.
She dropped the tray and walked into the kitchen again.
They had both pretended they to be ignorant of one other person in their presence, who stood stupified.
She watched them interact like a real couple. He didn't even care if she was there. Hot tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Why are you doing this?" She asked with a hoersed voice.
He glanced at her lazily. " My lawyers will be bringing in the divorce papers soon. All you need to do is sign them. You don't have to worry about not gaining anything, i will settle that" Was that what she is in his eyes? A woman who only cared about material things and wanted to use the divorce to exploit him.
Then Madison returned from the kitchen and sat beside him.
"You see sister, Ethan is being nice he even wants to settle you, so you wouldn't lose. Be good and sign the papers when they come ok?" She said with a soft voice, as if coaxing her. Amelia looked at both of them for a while and swallowed. She turned to walk upstairs. She won't let them put her down again.
Upstairs.
She locked the door and leaned her back on it. Then slowly, she slide down to the floor. She say down on the floor and cried her eyes out.
What was she going to do now? She couldn't really sign those papers. She didn't want to be a divorced woman.
After the divorce, how would her life turn? Would she still have the cheek to face the public, after they find out the reason behind her divorce? Would she be able to marry anyone else? How would life play with her?
She was confused and depressed. After the divorce, she would be known as the barren woman who got divorced by her husband.
Would she be able to stand the humiliation?
In a moderate yet neat office, two amiable men were sitting, facing each other.
Son, you have to step out from the military now to run the business. I'm not as healthy as before and right now the company needs you" one of the men, who appeared to be older said. "Dad, i bet you are still very sound and healthy. The business is in good hands with you. As for me, i am not ready to take over yet" The other man, who looked younger declared.
"Then when will you be ready? You have always said this but you show no sign of any readiness" the older man said with a displeased look.
"Look dad, i want to enjoy myself for now and don't want to be bugged by anything. Besides you are still sound and healthy, hm"
"Enjoy yourself you say? Or swallow in sadness and regrets. Son when are you going to let her go?" He asked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
His cheerful expression suddenly changed after hearing his father say this. The room temperature dropped. He shifted forward with a sigh, and shook his head slightly.
"Dad i don't want to talk about it"
"But it's high time you move on. You allowed her to stay with the one she is happy with and you are here miserable. Always hiding under a mask of coldness. You have to let go, son"
"I know" he responded, "but I'm not just ready" he pursed his lips tightly. He couldn't just get himself to forget his first love who jilted him to marry another man.
"When will you be ready. Your time is counting. You are no longer a little boy but a man"
The younger man stood up. " I will be on my way now, dad"
"Just think about it, son" the older man said with a sigh. His son never liked it when matters about that girl are brought up.
He turned to look at his father and lifted one corner of the lips. "I will father"
Outside.
He entered his car after coming out of the building. He held the steering wheel tightly in his hands.
Snacky what did you do to me? After you jilt me, i should hate you but instead I find myself still loving you. Did you cast a spell on me? You are living happily now but I am here living an unhappy and miserable life. I want to let go of you but i can't snacky. I am confused and heartbroken.
Can I ever find someone to love? Can I ever fall in love again?
