Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Sylvia stayed by Benjamin’s side, offering him comfort. “Didn’t they say Mirabelle was transferred to another hospital? Maybe she’s getting better treatment now.”
“Maybe she’s already found a matching heart, right?”
What blatant lies.
Sylvia knew full well that the heart beating inside her was the only one that could have saved me.
Compatible organs are incredibly rare; if it were as simple as she made it sound, why didn’t she wait for a new heart instead of taking mine?

At that moment, my hatred peaked.
If not for them, I would still be with Nora, not helplessly watching their grief from the sidelines.
Benjamin stayed silent but didn’t give up looking for me. I couldn’t understand why he was so persistent.
He hadn’t loved me much when I was alive; otherwise, how could he abandon me in my illness to be with his precious Sylvia?
Now, he pretended to be a devoted husband, but I felt no gratitude, only disgust.
Seeing Benjamin’s silence, Sylvia gently nudged her daughter Ellie, who was playing nearby.

Ellie’s eyes brightened as she wrapped her arms around Benjamin’s leg.
“Uncle, will you always like Ellie?” she asked pitifully.
“I’ve never met my dad. You’re the best to me!”
Benjamin’s expression softened as he looked at Ellie. “I’ll be there for you instead of my dad from now on.”
A sudden idea sparked in Benjamin’s mind. He would use Nora to make me reappear!
Benjamin knew how much I valued Nora.
If he took her, he was sure I would appear no matter where I was.

Even Ellie didn’t receive as much attention as Nora. But Nora was terrified of her.
Whenever Sylvia approached, Nora would curl up in fear, tears streaming down her face. It broke my heart to see her like that.
My spirit held her gently, just as I did when I was alive. Benjamin was busy with work, so Nora was left in Sylvia’s care.
He even took a photo of the two of them together and sent it to my phone with a smug message: “Mirabelle Lewis, if you don’t come back, Nora will start calling Sylvia ‘Mom‘!”
But Sylvia’s kindness was all an act. When Benjamin wasn’t around, she tormented Nora mercilessly. She would scream at her, “If it

wasn’t for your mother’s interfering, I wouldn’t have broken up with Benjamin. You shouldn’t exist!” How shameless could she be?
Sylvia, Benjamin, and I were all college friends. Both Sylvia and I liked Benjamin, but he chose to be with Sylvia.
Later, Sylvia, tired of Benjamin’s lack of wealth, dumped him after graduation to be with a rich
man.
Heartbroken, Benjamin was left devastated, and I helped him pick up the pieces of his life.
We eventually fell in love and got married.
The wealthy man Sylvia married was both promiscuous and abusive, even striking her while she was pregnant.

When he squandered all his wealth and ended up in prison, Sylvia struggled to raise their child. alone.
Desperate, she turned to Benjamin, who still harbored feelings for his first love and often helped Sylvia and her daughter.
But I never imagined she would overlook the fact that she dumped Benjamin for someone wealthier and blame me for interfering in their relationship.
How could there be such a disgusting woman in this world!
Nora was just a small child, not even tall enough to reach the table.

Sylvia, with her long, manicured nails, would dig into Nora’s skin, leaving marks.
Nora, who feared pain, would cry out for me every time Sylvia hurt her.
Each cry of “Mommy” was like a dagger to my heart, shaking my very soul. I tried to shield Nora, but her hands passed right through my spirit.
In that moment, I felt utter despair.
Why does God treat me like this? Why does He let me witness my own daughter suffering such abuse?
Every time Sylvia beats Nora, she warns her not to tell Benjamin.
