Chapter 849
After Bradley’s departure, it took Mandy a while to snap out of her thoughts. Serving Bradley wasn’t something she truly desired,
but wasn’t that X’s assigned task for her? With Bradley no longer interested, would X blame her for not completing the mission?
Upon returning to her room, Mandy promptly called X to report Bradley’s recent actions.
After listening to Mandy’s report, X’s mechanical voice sounded. “I understand. The mission was completed well.”
Hearing the mysterious X utter these words, Mandy couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, tentatively asking, “Boss, are you
genuinely not being sarcastic?”
“No. You can enjoy some time abroad before returning.” X replied.
With this confirmation from X, Mandy cleared her throat and asked, “May I know who donated their liver to Bradley during the
transplant?”
Mandy knew it was impossible she was Bradley’s donor, but she was genuinely curious about the identity of the liver donor.
“You shouldn’t ask what you shouldn’t.” X abruptly hung up.
Mandy held the phone, deep in thought. She had always suspected Esther was Bradley’s liver donor but lacked sufficient
evidence to prove it. If Esther did donate her liver, why would X orchestrate this?
Seated on the dimly lit sofa with a breeze gently caressing her hair, Mandy connected all the facts. As she pondered, a wave of
shock and horror surged within her.
X seemed to be undermining the relationship between Esther and Bradley all along. Did X hold a grudge against them? If so,
who could X be?
Until now, Mandy had no idea who X really was. Upon contemplation, X had been orchestrating this scheme step by step for the
past six years. X’s shadow lingered in Esther’s accusation and imprisonment, and Mandy unknowingly became X’s pawn.
When Mandy realized these crucial points, she felt like she had fallen into an icy pit. She was extremely afraid. She had no
intention of staying abroad and booked a flight back home immediately.
Despite transforming from Liliane to Mandy through plastic surgery, she only had one person she could rely on and trust—Leah.
Previously, she feared exposing her identity, causing unnecessary trouble. But now, she couldn’t sit still. She feared a pawn like
her would become a discarded piece one day.

Mandy didn’t even unpack her luggage. She went straight to the prison to see Leah.
Upon hearing that a young girl came to visit her, Leah initially thought it was Liliane. However, when she entered the visiting
room and saw Mandy’s unfamiliar face, an uneasy premonition arose in her heart.
Where was her Liliane? What had Bradley done to her Liliane?
Leah had been behaving well in prison recently, hoping for an earlier release. She had heard rumors about Liliane having an
accident abroad, but she completely disbelieved it. After all, she had been receiving many things she liked recently, things that
only Liliane would know.
Seeing Leah, Mandy forced herself to hold back her tears. “Ms. Walpole, hello. I am Mandy Pendleton, a friend of Liliane.”
Leah had never heard Liliane mention a friend named Mandy. Even so, she held the phone firmly on her end.
