Chapter THE SAFE HOUSE
Fawmus could be seen sitting on a chair in a room. The room where Fawmus was seated wasn't so big and at one side of the room was a standing board close to the TV in which newspapers, a map, and some other things were pinned. In front of Fawmus was a small plasma TV on the wall. In the middle of the room were chairs that surrounded a big table, and three sofas facing both the TV and the big table and chairs at the end of the room.
Fawmus was seated on one of the chairs that surrounded the table which rested its back on the big table, as he was staring at the news being shown on the TV.
Detective John, uncle James, and Adewale could also be seen in the room placed on each sofa unconscious and lost of heart except Adewale whose heart wasn't ripped out by Fawrus.
Adewale regained consciousness and gasped as he opened his eyes and then began to breathe heavily. Adewale sat up as his breathing was now normal and looked around him to see the room, uncle James and Detective John's dead bodies lying on the other two sofas, and Fawmus whose back was facing him seated watching TV.
Adewale was surprised and confused to see Detective John's body and asked Fawmus (weakly) ''where are we and why is the Detective's body here?''.
''We are in a hideout that belongs to the Detective'' said Fawmus to Adewale, not turning back but still staring at the TV.
''And how did you find this place?'' Adewale asked Fawmus.
''I might have tapped into the Detective’s memories and found this place'' said Fawmus to Adewale.
''Why did you bring the Detective's body here, you should have left it at the station. His body belongs to the government'' said Adewale to Fawmus.
''I brought it here because I don't think he is truly dead'' said Fawmus.
''What do you mean?'' asked Adewale (confused), and rested his back on the sofa as he raised his leg down from the sofa.
''The Detective has to wake up so I can be sure of what to tell you. And if he doesn't, we will begin the search for Fawrus and return his body. Fawrus did a lot of killing at the station'' said Fawmus.
''Yes. He nearly killed all the police officers if we had not bargained with him to take Adetutu and spare the others. Seeing what he did made me kill the doubt that he might not be a devil but now, he is much worse than a monster'' said Adewale, and stood up from the sofa.
Adewale went to sit down on one of the chairs facing the big table and looked at the TV to see his name, Adetutu's, and uncle James' names cleared from the criminal list. Their pictures and that of Detective John were also displayed on the TV that they were missing and needed to be found.
Adewale was glad that they were no longer seen as criminals but as missing citizens. Adewale asked Fawmus ''so how did you fall into Fawrus’s trap?''.
''He came to the motel while you were all asleep and we fought. Thanks to the rain that fell that day I was able to beat him then he decided to escape and I didn't want him to because I wanted to capture him and see if I could take the fire power from him, so I followed him. He stopped at a place and split himself into many which I fought with and defeated but he didn't stop creating the split ones.
I kept on fighting the split ones thinking he was creating them because he had nowhere to run to but he was keeping me busy waiting for the rain to stop and the rain did stop. When the rain stopped I wasn't as powerful as I once was and was no longer a match for him again. He bested me and I continued to be brave fighting him even though I was weak but suddenly we both felt pain in our chests.
We found out the pain in our left chest was because we were growing a heart. The pain stopped after our heart had finished growing then Fawrus took out my heart thinking if he did I might die but I grew a new heart. Seeing that, he began to rip out my heart all over and over again'' said Fawmus, still staring at the TV and not looking at Adewale.
''Are you both now human?" asked Adewale.
''I don't think fully though. I still can't feel'' said Fawmus.
''It is not good that Fawrus is now human. We have to get rid of Fawrus quickly'' said Adewale worried.
''We will, be rest assured'' said Fawmus.
''Okay. How long will it take before uncle wakes?'' asked Adewale.
''I don't know but he will wake up'' said Fawmus.
Adewale stood up and went to check up on both uncles James’ and Detective John's dead bodies. Adewale checked on the Detective's body first and saw the hole in his chest then he checked on uncle James' body and saw uncle James was growing a new heart which amazed him. Adewale watched as uncle James' new heart grew and the hole in his chest closed up which was something crazy to him.
Uncle James gasped as he opened his eyes and began to breathe heavily while Adewale said with a smile to him ''welcome back from the dead'', as he saw him wake up.
Uncle James saw Adewale and looked at his surroundings as his breathing became normal and he realized he was back alive then he remembered his heart was ripped out by Fawrus while Adewale stood looking at him. Uncle James quickly sat up and took a look at his chest to see the hole in his chest closed up and could feel the sound of his heartbeat as he touched his chest. Uncle James said angrily ''that bastard fucking killed me''
Adewale smiled and asked uncle James jokingly "So how was the dead world, uncle?''.
''Am not interested in talking about it, It's terrifying. I need water'' said uncle James to Adewale.
''There is nothing of such here you will have to go out and get it but we don't have any money either'' said Adewale.
Uncle James sat down properly and looked around him again then he saw the Detective's dead body and Fawmus seated on a chair watching TV. Uncle James was shocked to see the Detective's dead body and said surprisingly "He killed the Detective?'' said uncle James.
''As you can see'' said Adewale to uncle James.
''Where is Adetutu?'' uncle James asked Adewale, noticing she is not in the room.
''Fawrus took her'' said Adewale to uncle James, then uncle James stood up and walked in anger to Fawmus.
Uncle James stands in front of Fawmus preventing him from continuing to watch the TV and says in anger to Fawmus ''How could you let yourself be captured by Fawrus when you are supposed to protect us from him?"
"Fawmus was tricked, uncle, just like the Detective" said Adewale to uncle James.
"And how come he even has a heart that Fawrus can rip out?'' uncle James asked Adewale, as he stared at Fawmus who seemed not to mind him.
''You heard when Fawrus talked about them becoming human. They are becoming a human, uncle, and humans do have a heart'' said Adewale to uncle James.
''What do we do now? We have to get Adetutu back'' said uncle James, now worried still staring at Fawmus.
''We do nothing and wait for the Detective to wake up'' said Fawmus to uncle James.
Uncle James was confused upon hearing that and couldn't believe that. Uncle James said to Fawmus ''you are joking right? How could someone whose heart is ripped out is going to wake up from the dead when he is not connected to us?''
"We are not sure about that. He may be connected to Leo or Deo if the dream says he possesses their powers'' said Fawmus to uncle James.
''And are you going to believe Fawrus's stupid dream?'' uncle James asked Fawmus.
''Yes, I will not because it is Fawrus's stupid dream but because I also had the same dream while I was unconscious'' said Fawmus to uncle James.
Adewale and uncle James were surprised upon hearing that. Adewale said to Fawmus ''I thought you knew about it because you learned it from Fawrus but you had the same dream?''.
''Yes, I did, and I don't think it's just a normal dream. If only I and Fawrus was the one that had the dream there is something about the dream'' said Fawmus to Adewale and uncle James.
''You are right. I can remember clearly that there was fear in Fawrus's eye while he talked about the dream because he couldn't figure it out either'' said Adewale.
''Which means it is not just a mere dream, and to find out about the dream is if the Detective wakes up'' said Fawmus, then uncle James walked away from Fawmus and went to sit down on a chair while Adewale sat on a sofa.
Fawmus stood up and said to Adewale and uncle James ''let me go get you all water and food'', then Fawmus walked toward the door.
''Don't forget to buy the Detective food also because he might wake up hungry and thirsty'' said Adewale to Fawmus, as Fawmus got to the door.
Adetutu was unconscious as her hands and legs were tied to a chair she sat on in a tall uncompleted building outside the city. The building has 8 floors and a flat roof.
Adetutu regained consciousness and opened her eyes to see she was tied to a chair in a space (room). Adetutu looked around her and saw where she was then looked outside the window and saw the city not too far from her. Adetutu tried to free herself from the chair she was tied to but couldn't, and kept on trying. After many trials to free herself and couldn't Adetutu stopped, just then a portal opened at one side of the room and she saw Fawrus come out of it smiling.
