Chapter 2222
The wedding organizers soon arrived.
They took a few strands of Qiana's hair and carefully placed them in a box. Unable to contain his excitement, Wesley said to her after they left, "Qiana, Tremaine sure thinks dearly of you! He must be planning to keep it forever! When a man truly loves a woman, he will keep her hair to always remember her by!"
Qiana didn't think that profoundly until she heard Wesley's words.
She quirked her lips, saying, "Of course he thinks dearly of me."
Wesley continued flattering Qiana. Elated by his praises, the woman on cloud nine would never have thought those hair were not for that so-called memento.
Her hair was now in Sheldon's hands.
He took her hair and Montez's to the DNA paternity test center.
"It'll take about three days for the results to come out, Mr. Hawls," a staff member said respectfully.
Sheldon nodded. "I'll come back in three days
then."
The sky was grey as he stepped out of the DNA paternity test center.
It was a gloomy day that day, not good.
Taking a gander at the weather, Sheldon couldn't help wondering.
Why had Mr. Tremaine ordered him to do all these investigations lately?
He had even ordered him to take Montez and Qiana's hair for DNA paternity testing. Could it be that Mr. Tremaine...
Sheldon felt a wave of shock in his heart. He tried not to think about it.
He had a premonition.
Something major was going to happen.
Three days passed by in the blink of an eye.
Yesseca made the trip to Preslie's house in the evening.
She was going to settle things with Preslie's parents.
As soon as she entered, Preslie's parents looked at her indignantly. "Miss Cowell, you must be afraid our uproar will ruin your business, seeing that you've been visiting us several times." Yesseca didn't answer.
She was speechless.
There was no way she'd be afraid of a couple of scoundrels.
She just didn't want to make things difficult for Preslie.
After all, no matter how bad Preslie's parents were, they were still her parents. It would be best for them not to burn down any bridges.
Yesseca immediately took out a bank card containing half a million dollars.
Of course, she didn't have that kind of money. She had borrowed it from Selina.
Selina didn't even ask what she would do with the money, giving it just like that.
"There's half a million in here," Yesseca said, "As long as you promise not to ask for the shares, it's yours."
Although they had agreed not to take the money, the Fernandez couple couldn't help being tempted when they saw the card. Calter looked away.
He whispered into Celine's ear, "Don't be greedy over half a million dollars. Think about the money well gain with the shares."
Only then did Celine look away, reluctantly.
She took out a contract from her room and placed it in front of Yesseca. "Calter and I had a lawyer draft this contract. We're not greedy people; we just want 30% of the shares. Sign it now." Yesseca was rendered speechless.
The Fernandez couple managed to stump her with their shamelessness once again.
It was a big no from the beginning, yet they hired a lawyer and drafted a contract?!
She picked up the contract and tore it apart.
Calter was shocked by her action.
So was Celine.
They both stared wide-eyed in disbelief at Yesseca.
Yesseca said, "I've come here tonight out of the last ounce of respect I have for you two. You may be my seniors and my best friend's parents, but respect is mutual. If you continue disrespecting me, then I'll do the same!" Yesseca put the bank card back into her pocket. "Since you don't want the money, I'll take it back. You can also forget about the shares."
With that, Yesseca walked out.
Only then did Celine come back to her senses.
She then shouted angrily, "Okay, fine! Just you wait. If you don't give us those shares, you can say goodbye to your business! I will ruin your store!"
Hearing that, Yesseca paused.
Turning back, she looked at the pair
say
with frost glazed over her eyes. "Come at me all you want. I will this, though. You can't ignore your conscience forever; that voice your head will drive you mad one day Listen to it, otherwise even God won't give you any mercyTM
Flushed with anger, Caller roared, "How have we ignored our conscience?! It's given that my daughter should honor us! You will be struck down by lightning if you don't give us those shares!" Yesseca snorted and left.
It was her mistake. She shouldn't have bothered trying to reason with Preslie's parents.
Because it was pointless to talk any sense into some people.
Yesseca returned home.
Preslie happened to return from the patisserie right then.
She asked, "You've settled your affairs?"
Yesseca nodded.
She hid from Preslie that she visited her parents with the excuse of running errands.
Preslie then said with a smile, "I just settled the accounts. We've made a profit of ten thousand dollars today. I'm so happy."
Yesseca was equally as happy.
Preslie then said emotionally, "Good thing my parents haven't come by to cause trouble these past few days. I guess they've figured out nothing good will come in the end no matter how much of a ruckus they cause." Yesseca held her breath.
It was because of the three-day timeframe that they didn't cause trouble at their store.
She had given the couple three days to think of her offer.
At the same time, they were also giving her three days to reconsider.
Now that they had made their stance clear, it was very likely they would return with a vengeance once more.
She wasn't afraid of them causing a scene, but Preslie...
Pulling herself away from the
thought, Yesseca turned to Preslie and said, "Preslie, our business is getting better. We should also
vnet
improve ourselves at the same time.
Although you've made great
progress, I still think we have more to learn."
After a pause, Yesseca continued, "There's a baking conference in the city tomorrow. You should go check it out."
Of course, Preslie was more than willing to go, just worried that Yesseca would have trouble managing the patisserie herself.
Smiling, Yesseca assured her, "Haven't we hired helpers? We've already agreed two candidates will start work tomorrow. Go ahead to the conference. I'll run the store."
Preslie agreed.
The following day.
Calter and Celine had come to cause trouble as expected.
They brought along a megaphone and shouted in front of the patisserie to get as much attention as possible. "Listen here, everyone! We've worked so hard to raise our daughter, but that ungrateful child wouldn't give anything back in return! She wants to drive us to a corner! See-"
Before they could finish their words, a group of policemen appeared out of nowhere and promptly handcuffed them.
The Fernandez couple was flabbergasted.
Celine shouted from the top of her lungs, "What are you doing?! Why are you handcuffing us?!"
