Chapter 77
Chapter 77 Where Are Your Bodyguards
When Malcolm finished his last sentence, a moment of silence ensued. Tension permeated the air as everyone's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. Moments later, someone said in a quavering voice, "W-What? The entire international square belongs to him? Mr. Kirk, are you for real?"
"Why do I find the need to lie to you? Who are you to begin with?" Malcolm sarcastically responded.
If not for the close relationship they had with Pierce, it would not be possible for someone of their status to even know about Christopher's background. "Oh my god..."
A wave of shock and terror followed suit. The entire international square is worth a fortune!
Comparatively, Christopher was in a different league from them. In his eyes, they were nothing but a bunch of impoverished hillbillies.
"Is it a norm for wealthy heirs to hide their wealth?" Pierce asked in a breaking voice.
"All right, that's all I can tell you. You all heard what Mr. Yaeger said just now. Everything that happened stays here. If anyone fails to keep that promise, no matter who you are, even Pierce, I will kill you," Malcolm reminded sternly.
Malcolm was not kidding, and the last sentence sent shivers down their spine.
Those who died in Malcolm's hands were numerous!
Meanwhile, at Jadeborough International Square, Amanda and Erisa were waiting for Christopher.
When Erisa saw him, she waved her hand energetically at Christopher to attract his attention. Christopher walked toward them and gently touched Erisa's face. "It's all my fault. I failed to protect you. Does your face still hurt?"
"It doesn't hurt anymore. Don't blame yourself! It's my own negligence that caused you the problem," Erisa replied with guilt.
Christopher patted Erisa on the head before turning to Amanda. He nodded his head and thanked Amanda, to which she responded with an awkward smile. "This is what I'm supposed to do." Shortly after, Christopher told Erisa, "Erisa, please don't tell anyone about what happened tonight, including your Mom and your sister. Fighting is wrong and I don't want them to know about it." "Christopher, don't worry about it. I promise to keep it our secret. Pinky promise." Erisa held out her hand innocently.
Christopher said softly, "Ms. Clark, why don't you bring Erisa into the car first? I'm going to wait for Malcolm."
Amanda mumbled a response and brought Erisa into the car, while Christopher waited for Malcolm. Shortly after, Malcolm came out of the bar.
"Mr. Yaeger, so sorry to keep you waiting," Malcolm said.
"Okay. Let's get in the car."
Malcolm was asked to drive, and he courteously invited Christopher into his Mercedes-Benz. Before leaving, Christopher instructed Amanda to head toward Nirvana Residence.
And just when Malcolm wanted to depart, a black car emerged from the darkness. In the car, a middle-aged man pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Boss, Malcolm is alone without his bodyguards. He just came out from Sky Dragon Bar!"
From the other end of the phone, the man chuckled in delight. "Malcolm, what are you thinking? You're traveling without your bodyguards! Now listen up! You do what's necessary to take his life. Once he's dead, Malcolm Group will be over. Golden Peace will descend into chaos, and it will be the time for me to be involved."
The middle-aged man smiled. "That's right. I think so too."
"All right, I'll leave this to you. Bring me good news and I will reward you handsomely. If it's a success, I will announce you as the next manager of Skywind Gale at tonight's dinner!"
The person who spoke was none other than Malcolm's arch nemesis, Eddie Barnes, the head of Skywind Gale.
At that moment, Malcolm was completely oblivious to the approaching danger. Normally, he would have his subordinates follow him wherever he went.
However, the exigency that occurred that night had left his arrangements in complete disarray. His son had angered and offended Christopher, and if it was not managed properly, it would lead to disastrous consequences. Hence, thoughts about his personal safety and security did not cross his mind at all.
In the car, Malcolm treated Christopher with immense respect and courtesy. He said in a low voice, "Mr. Yaeger, I'm deeply sorry for what happened earlier."
