My Fiance Ran Away On Our Wedding Day

Chapter 57

"It's only a piece of clothes, isn't it? What exactly was there to flaunt?"
Tony pursed his lips and picked up his phone to check the time without replying to Zac's question.
He sneered softly and asked, "President Hill, it's already eight o'clock. Why don't you pack up and go home?"
Zac had drunk at least two mouthfuls of wine at the previous party, but now he was deafeningly quiet and stunned.
So Tony might as well not let him get in the way of other people's perceptions.
Because of his great self-control, he believed he could put up with Zac's terrible attitude for more than 20 years.
But even if his strength of will was good enough, he couldn't endure it anymore.
"Look at this man's daily coquettish manipulation. Is it something a person can do?"
Tony remarked, but Zac was not annoyed when he heard his words.
He stood up instead and lightly nodded, "Well, then I'll go back."
Zac was still preoccupied with other things, so he didn't have time to talk to them.
When Anika and her good friend came home, the lights in the living room were on.
Although there was no one in the living room, she knew that Zac should have returned.
She then walked upstairs to change into her home clothes.
Afterward, she went into the kitchen and cleaned the lemons and delicious pears she had purchased from the supermarket in
order to make lemon pear juice.
Zac usually had a lot of social interactions, and other people intentionally toasted to please him Thus, it was inevitable for him to
drink.
She knew that every time he finished drinking, his voice would be hoarse the next day.
So she decided to make him some lemon pear juice.
According to Alena, this was referred to as gradually melting the other person's heart in the details.

As the saying goes, a baker's wife may bite of a bun, a brewer's wife may bite of a tun.
Since she lived with Zac, it was convenient for her to do so.
When she was boiling lemon pear juice, she kept a close eye on the heat.
Because if she became careless, it would stick to the pan and burn.
Therefore, she stood there for more than an hour, watching the small pot of lemon pear juice gradually thicken before turning off
the heat.
As she lifted her hand to get the glass jar from the shelf, she suddenly felt a sore feeling since she had been standing for too
long.
Her fingers trembled, and the bottle of raisins and chestnuts on the shelf fell to the floor as well.
Anika had no choice but to secure the glass jar near her as she noticed the bottle was going to break onto her arm.
However, the anticipated pain did not occur.
Instead of falling, the heavy bottle slammed into the hand that appeared out of nowhere.
It shattered to the ground with another smash.
When she turned around, she saw Zac whose lips were pursed.
His light eyes darkened as he looked at her.
Anika frowned, and when she regained her senses, she hurriedly asked him, "Is your hand injured?"
Zac clenched his fist and shook his head.
Anika heaved a sigh of relief and went to look at the mess on the kitchen floor.
The glass container, which was sent by Borris and had been filled with raisin chestnuts, had now been broken into pieces.
Zac caught a glimpse of her staring at the fragment and held her hands on his wrist, "I'll do it"
He cleaned up the broken glass before placing the sweet chestnuts in a clean carton beside her.

He stared at the ceramic pot on the gas burner after cleaning up the mess and asked indifferently, "It's so late, why are you still
cooking in the kitchen?"
When she realized that he had returned, Zac went downstairs not long after.
But she stayed in the kitchen all the time and never went out.
He passed by the kitchen several times in the middle of the walk.
While she stood there in a daze, not knowing what she was thinking.
Anika then remembered what was in the pot after hearing his statement.
Therefore, she quickly took out two small glass jars and filled them with cooked lemon pear juice.
"It's lemon pear juice to moisten your throat.Since every time you finish your wine, your throat will be hoarse. You can also bring
some to the company” Zac locked his gaze on her, his throat slightly damp as he brushed his fingers.
The corner of his mouth hooked up softly and he paused for a long time before saying lightly, "Yes, thank you."
Anika's hand came to a halt as she stirred the pear juice.
She then averted her eyes and shook her head, "Actually ...you don't have to thank me"
He hadn't said thank you to her before, so it seemed strange now.
Zac took the glass jar from her and raised his eyebrows.
He smiled and said, "Yes, I see."
She finally got a little enlightened in this relationship.
The lights in the living area were turned off half an hour later, and they went back to their beds.
There was a thin wall between the master bedroom and the guest room.
Anika finished washing up and came out of the bathroom.
She laid down on her bed and took out her phone to check on Zac's circle of friends.

His network of friends is quite simple, consisting of only minor photographs from his life and with no captions.
She said to herself while staring at his latest two photos.
The picture shows the boiled eggs he ate this morning as well as the package of the coat he bought.
Although he knew Zac was merely documenting his life by taking photographs of his friends, she seemed to be involved in every
single one of them.
Anika couldn't help but feel a glimmer of happiness, even if it was only a coincidence.
As she recalled Alena's words, she spent a few minutes praising Zac's friends.
After that, she decided to send a message to him.
[Be careful when you sleep.Don't press your hand.]
[Good night.]
After sending the message, she scrolled through their conversation in Viber and noticed that apart from the few emojis she sent
him, the rest came from him which was all about picking her up from work and taking her downstairs.
It was ice-cold, without the slightest bit of charm.
Alena, on the other hand, recently bought several love manuals.
She stated that the key to developing a relationship was to not create an unclear situations and that greeting each other every
morning and night was a vital technique to achieve this.
She was ready to switch off her phone and go to sleep when she saw he was typing, which appeared on the top of the dialog
box.
As a result, she held her phone for ten minutes before receiving a short message from him.
[Well, good night.] Aside from "good night,’’ there's just one more thing she'd want to say.So she clicked on the dialog box and
pondered for a long time.
However, she still accepted his message as a polite reply, so she put her phone down and fell asleep.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the wall, Zac was sitting on the edge of the bed.
He was frowning as he glanced at the screen where he saw that Anika was typing.
He was speechless for a long time.
When he lay on the bed, he saw the bruises on the back of his right hand.
He pursed his lower lip softly, then switched hands to hold his phone and placed his swollen arm on the pillow beside him.His
arm made him sleepless all night.
