Chapter 358 How the Deceased Is Still Alive
Chapter 358 How the Deceased Is Still Alive
Chris looked at Radley innocently. “Dude, don’t give me that look. I had no clue she’d show up.”
Atter hearing this, Radley shot him a cold, disapproving glare.
Mikael intervened to defuse the situation. “By the way, when did you and Freya reconcile? Weren’t you adamant about her not visiting you? And now, she is here with you.
Radley’s gaze shifted away from Chris. “She has a treatment plan.”
“Huh?”
Chris felt a surge of joy at this news. Recently, he had contacted several renowned international doctors on Radley’s behalf. However, after reviewing Radley’s medical records, these doctors hesitated to pursue treatment due to its low success rate. They were concerned about their professional reputations and declined to proceed with the operation.
Mikael’s face lit up as well. “So, what’s the success rate?”
Radley’s tone remained indifferent. “Freya mentioned it’s thirty-five percent, but the exact number isn’t confirmed yet. She believes it can be improved further.
Great!” Chris genuinely felt happy for Radley. “The doctor I contacted mentioned a mere seven percent chance of successfully treating you and asked for a ridiculously high treatment fee. Honestly, with such a low success rate, he doesn’t deserve the title of a renowned doctor. It just shows how exceptional Frey is.”
As they conversed, Connor entered the ward. When he saw Mikael and Chris present, he greeted Radley but remained hesitant to speak.
Radley looked at Connor and prompted him to continue.
Connor hesitated momentarily before speaking up, “Mr. Monaghan, something has happened at the Monaghan Group.”
Radley inquired, “What happened?”
Chris furrowed his brow and asked, “Did troublemakers take advantage of your absence to create chaos in the company? Radley, I can handle it for you.”
“No need,” Radley responded firmly. “Let them be. Connor, tell me what happened.”
Connor’s expression was laced with anger as he began. “Mr. Wayne somehow learned about your hospitalization. He has been telling everyone in the company, alleging that you’ll likely end up disabled, and it’s an incurable condition.”
At the mention of that name, Radley’s face turned cold, recalling the man’s obsequious and flattering demeanor. He hadn’t expected Mr. Wayne to harbor such ambitions.
Connor continued, “Once Mr. Wayne shared this news, the shareholders were in a frenzy. They all wanted to verify if you would be amputated and become disabled. Consequently, this could impact the stock price. Also, I’ve received numerous calls today, all inquiring about your health.”
Radley’s hand twitched slightly by the bedside. After pondering briefly, he said coldly, “Make all my hospital examination records public. Let them be accessible-at least, make it seem that way.”
Mr Monaghan, are you saving Connor began to grasp Radley’s intention.
“Let them believe this is true I want to see their next move”
“Roger that’
“Go now” Radley ordered Connor
Once Connor left the ward, Mikael sat beside Radley’s hospital bed. “You’ve been out of touch with the Monaghan Group for a while. It might be time to deal with these troublemakers in the company.
“No. Let’s wait a bit longer. While speaking. Radley looked at him and inquired, “How is the investigation I assigned you”
“As you anticipated, there are no secrets that air can’t carry. The Kaufmanns are also digging into this. Many folks showed up at Emerald Dock this time, and upon their departure, they didn’t leave without a trace. They seemed pretty rattled when they left, and I stumbled upon a bloodstain left by one of them.” Mikael’s gaze turned steely. “I ran a DNA analysis on that bloodstain. When cross-referenced with the police database, it matches a deceased person.”
Chris interjected with a frown. “What do you mean by a deceased person?”
“A few years ago, there was an international terrorist organization called LEV. Although it wasn’t widely publicized, this organization wielded significant power and influence. The Interpol had attempted to raid their operations before, but their efforts were in vain. However, they finally succeeded in eradicating this organization by raiding its base. The leader of the organization was subsequently put on trial and executed.”
Mikael’s expression turned grave as he continued, “The bloodstain we uncovered matches that of a former LEV organization member. Our discovery was only possible due to outdated police databases. Otherwise, we would have had no way of knowing, especially considering this person is already dead.”
Radley’s face hardened. “So, are you implying that the bloodstain of an individual already executed by the police turned up at the scene?”
“Yes,” Mikael affirmed. “It indicates that the supposedly eradicated organization may have only been the branch. The central LEV organization could be far more terrifying than we initially believed, lurking
in the shadows until now. What perplexes me is why they targeted the Kaufmanns and what Freya did to provoke them.”
Radley’s gaze hardened as a suspicion began to form in his mind. “It’s possible that the authorities’ previous operation was a ruse orchestrated by this organization, allowing them to retreat into the shadows.”
Mikael’s stare grew more intense, his tone somber. “Radley, dealing with an organization like this won’t be a cakewalk. They’ve transcended mere lawlessness and are prepared to go to any lengths to achieve their objectives.”
Radley’s voice remained cold and unwavering. “I don’t care. This time, I’ll eradicate them.”
Meanwhile, on the fourth-floor lounge, Freya had managed to catch some rest beside Radley earlier. She looked at the dark sky through the window and retrieved the treatment plan to review.
Her phone vibrated, and she grabbed it to see a notification from the Green Flamation forum. She tapped. on it and found a post from Ink, including an attached file about LEV organization, an international terrorist organization.
Freya quickly scanned the forum messages and accessed the LEV organization file. The revelations grew increasingly alarming-LEV wasn’t just an ordinary group but a dangerous international terrorist organization involved in weapons smuggling, drug trade, and human trafficking from Odea to Eswen. Their brutal actions and merciless members sent shivers down her spine.
At that moment, a growing concern for Jolly’s safety weighed on her mind.
In the group chat, Ink said, ‘No, I’ve thought about it. I’m going to Caltun tomorrow!
Freya asked, “Why are you going to Caltun when you’re in Hartterre?”
He replied, I don’t care about international terrorist organizations, but if they mess with people from the Green Flamation forum, that’s unacceptable. They seem highly capable, so I’ll head to Caltun to assist you!
She could sense his seriousness and vigilance toward this organization despite his casual tone.
Brisa also said, Tll head to the hospital tomorrow to keep watch!
The file on the LEV organization was concise, providing only the information known to relevant personnel and the police. However, it did reveal a few code names used within the organization.
The leader was known as Falcon, with a second-in-command named Strategist. Additionally, there were approximately seven third-in-command positions. Unfortunately, the investigation only uncovered one of them a woman called Moonblade.
As Freya pondered Moonblade’s name, she couldn’t help but recall someone saw that woman during the murder case at Evergreen University when Benjamin died. She suspected that Moonblade could be that woman.
Then, Ink continued in the group chat, ‘Until this matter is resolved, I will stay in Caltun for quite some time. Green Scylla, can you help me find accommodation?’
Freya considered for a moment and then sent the address of her former laboratory’s villa. “You can stay here, and I’ll arrange two bodyguards for you!
Green Scylla responded, “Eugene and Michael live in the villa.
However, he inquired, “Can I have two female bodyguards instead?”
Brisa interjected, “You don’t deserve them.
Afterward, Freya put her phone down and continued studying the treatment plan. Her top priority was helping Radley recover from his injuries.
Around noon, Isabella brought food over. She noticed that Freya seemed in good spirits and remarked, Looks like things are getting better between you and Radley?”
Freya nodded and smiled, “Yes, he finally agreed to cooperate with my treatment.”
Isabella probed with a knowing smile, “It’s more than that, isn’t it? I heard you were in Radley’s ward all afternoon. What was that about?”
Freya raised an eyebrow and responded, “I just took a nap. Don’t overthink it.”
