Chapter 2063
Chapter 2063 This Is Very Strange
In the police station, Detective Carter drank twice as much coffee to refresh himself. Then, he instructed the police officers to take Violet back to the detention room and stop the interrogation.
Immediately, Detective Carter called for a discussion with the two police officers who were interrogating her.
However, the results were dismal.
Violet was so psychologically tough. Her expression was calm no matter what kind of question was asked.
Detective Carter had been observing the changes in her pupils during the interrogation.
There was still nothing.
"I have met suspects like this. Due to all the crimes they've committed, all their guilty conscience and morality have been spent. In their subconsciousness, they convince themselves by self-hypnosis, forcibly suppressing the truth by carving an alternate memory in which they're innocent. Therefore, they can act as if they didn't do it when facing interrogation."
Detective Carter taught the two young police officers.
Then, he added, "Of course, we can't wrongfully accuse anyone. If we don't have any evidence by tomorrow, we have to let her go!"
Both officers nodded.
One of them asked, "Since time is of the essence, why did you stop suddenly?"
Detective Carter glanced at his watch, nodded, and responded, "It's one o'clock in the middle of the night. Let her rest for two hours before we conduct a surprise interrogation. At that time, she would be at the height of exhaustion. There may be some turning points!"
The two police officers were enlightened. Indeed, if the suspect was defending herself now, it would be useless no matter how much they interrogated her.
Tonight, Detective Carter did not intend to sleep.
By the time dawn broke, Detective Carter and the two police officers were already yawning, but the interrogation records in the case file did not contain any valuable clues at all.
Initially, the plan was for Violet to reveal her weakness through the interrogation, and then the police could take advantage of the situation to find evidence.
This trick did not seem to work.
"Detective Carter, we may have to let her go when in the afternoon!" said the police officer.
Detective Carter nodded. "Everything must be in accordance with the law. It is what it is."
Detective Carter hesitated for a few minutes as it was such bad news. Finally, he called to inform Byron.
Byron had just woken up not long ago. He spoke to Detective Carter over the phone about some things his wife recalled last night.
"So, during that time, why did Ms. Jacobs' mother go out so often? That lasted for a long time, and this matter is very strange!" Detective Carter caught the key point at once. Byron noticed this point last night. He asked his wife about it, but she did not know.
"Mr. Lawrence, please ask Ms. Jacobs to recall more later to see if she can find some key memories. I'll talk to the forensic doctor today and see if I can find other clues." Detective Carter hung up the phone in a hurry, Byron did not even have time to say thank you.
At this time, Rosalie had already sent the three little kids to the academy and came back.
Looking at her husband's worried eyes, she forced a smile on her face and said softly, "I really can't be so flustered anymore. Maybe I can recall more details when I'm calmer." Byron nodded, walked up to her, and hugged her tightly.
Rosalie basked in the warmth of the man's embrace, and her heart slowly found a harbor to anchor.
"Tomorrow seems to be Mary's wedding, right? I'm not in a hurry. It's impossible for Violet to disappear from the world all of a sudden anyway. I'd better help my bestie to get the important things in life done first," she muttered to herself.
