My Eternal Mate

Chapter Chapter Five

LYRA

I was tired and completely beaten by the time we reached our final destination. Alexander couldn't stop laughing at my state, finally stopping at last when I glared at him.

'I have no underwear on,' I mind-linked him, huffing out loud.

Alexander arched a brow, before his eyes travelled down to my privates that was currently covered with my dress. A grin spread across his face to let me know he preferred it that way, before he turned to handle the humans at the gate.

The guard brought our luggage in that exact moment, and turned to speak to me.

"Ma'am, your luggages are organised for you," he beamed, giving me a bright smile.

I returned a smile of my own. "Wonderful, thank you."

The man before me seemed like he wanted to say something else, before Alexander snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me flush against him. I could feel the frustration radiating off of him through our connection, so I didn't even bother glancing up at Alexander to know he was not ecstatic about my interaction with this human.

"I will take it from here," my mate sneered at the guard, his voice hard and stern.

The guard's smile quickly vanished and he nodded once before disappearing. Poor guy. I realised in that moment how intimidating Alexander probably seemed to others.

I turned and narrowed my eyes at my mate. "Seriously?"

Alexander raised a brow at me. "Enlighten me, my Luna."

I rolled my eyes. "Never mind," I told him. "Let's get out of here, it feels weird being surrounded by humans."

"That, I agree with," Alexander replied, before he grabbed the luggages and strutted out of the area impossibly fast.

I glanced around to ensure the humans in the airport did not seem suspicious, but was thankful to know everyone were just minding their own business.

We rode in a taxi, which was really weird. To have someone drive you around if you just paid them seemed quite ideal. Wolves didn't have that or need it, I suppose. But the thought of taxis were nice.

I didn't know about the human world much, and being around them now was teaching me a lot. I suddenly wondered how they would react if they knew of werewolf existence. They would be terrified, for sure.

When we reached our final destination, I was completely stunned. We had been riding in the taxi for over an hour, and I could now understand why.

Alexander had surprised me when he had booked our honeymoon, saying it was his present for me.

We arrived at a holiday villa, with a humongous house in isolation, surrounded by trees, on a large lake. This was perfect for us, away from both humans and wolves.

Alexander squeezed at my hand before he leaned his head closer to me, not stopping until his lips reached my ear.

"Do you like it?" he whispered, his eyes lingered on mine.

I nodded before biting my bottom lip. "I love it so much."

Alexander smiled sweetly before he raised my hand and brought it to his lips. He placed a light peck on the back in time for the taxi driver to signal our arrival.

The driver relocated our luggages from the back of his car to the house, and was granted a generous tip from Alexander. The poor old man beamed in extreme happiness, even so much that he left his card if we needed his service again, before he drove away, leaving Alexander and I alone.

"It’s," I started to say, exhaling as I took in the nature around us. "It's so quiet here."

Alexander grinned and pulled me close to him, his ear by my temple. "Do you know what that means?"

I raised a brow at him as I watched his eyes darken. "I'm still sore," I complained, pouting.

My mate chuckled and moved to peck at my pouted lips. "I know you can handle more," he told me, huskily. "But I did not bring you here just to have sex with you, Lyra."

I glanced at him accusingly. "Mh-hm, I bet you didn't."

Alexander's expression softened and he brushed his index lightly across my jaw. "A lot happened and I never gave you the chance to completely relax," he told me, his voice serious and his eyes filled with concern. "I am hoping this honeymoon will help you do just that."

I hadn't meant for the conversation to take such a heavy turn, but I simply nodded at my mate to let him know that I already knew his intentions.

"I know," I assured, leaning in to his finger on my face. "This is exactly what we both need, not just me."

Alexander placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, before he pulled back and said, "I only need you. It does not matter where, as long as you are there."

His words stirred something in my lower abdomen, and I couldn't respond, but instead embraced him. His musky cologne filled my nostrils, making me sigh in content. I really did love him beyond measures. To think in the beginning, that I tried to escape from him, it made me realise how much better my life seemed after meeting him.

A heavy gush of wind forced us to pull back from the embrace, and we quickly headed inside of the house.

The house itself was designed to such simplicity, allowing anyone that entered to feel the instant comfort. The floors were covered in marble, the walls plain ivory. There were pieces of artwork displayed on the walls, bringing vibrance to the entire place. The kitchen island was the biggest that I had seen, and it covered almost half of the room. The open planned house was complimented with windowed walls that overlooked the lake outside.

The thought of living at a place like this, very similar to the place that Alexander had taken me, the one that belonged to his father, made me realise how much nicer it must be with pups. A family.

The house seemed too big for two people, but if I told my mate that, he would respond by telling me that meant there was more space for us to proceed with sexual activities.

"Are you hungry?" Alexander asked, bringing me out of my trance. "And I mean for food, not for me."

I rolled my eyes, a teasing smile on my face as I attended to him in the kitchen. I took a seat on one of the stools by the kitchen island.

"What are you making?" I asked, tapping my finger lightly on the island, as I watched my mate rush around, grabbing ingredients from the refrigerator.

Alexander paused to glance at me, holding up the pasta bag in his hand. "Fettuccine Alfredo, sound good?"

Before I could respond, my stomach rumbled to let my mate know I was ravenous. Alexander grinned, before he nodded and rushed to lit the stove.

Not even half an hour later, and we were both side by side on the kitchen island with a plate of Fettuccine Alfredo directly in front of us, respectively.

"This smells delicious," I told Alexander as I picked up the silver fork.

"I hope you like it, baby," Alexander murmured, before he placed his hand on my lower back and leaned to kiss my temple. "You will need the energy."

I had just taken a bite of the food when his words caused for the food to lodge in my throat. I placed the fork back down quickly. Coughing, I tried to rectify the mess in my throat. Alexander rushed to grab me a glass of water, and by the time he returned, my coughing fit had ended.

"You alright?" he asked, holding the glass up for me to take.

I wiped at the tears that had escaped from the lack of oxygen entering my body, as I took the glass from him and chugged it down my throat.

After downing the water, I placed the empty glass on the kitchen island. Alexander was running his hand up and down my back in a soothing motion.

I turned and glanced at him. "Let's just eat for now, okay?"

My mate chuckled softly. "Of course, Mrs. Rathborne," he replied, grinning. He leaned his head forward, his lips by my ear. "Eat well, baby."

Grabbing my fork, I turned back to my food, blowing at it softly to make sure that I didn't burn myself.

When I felt Alexander's finger trail up my thigh, I turned to frown at him, but my mate simply smirked and retreated his hand.

Alexander was letting me know that he was ready to try for pups again, and in a way, maybe I was too.

My eyes were still on him as the thought of pups filled my head. I wanted his babies, I really did. Perhaps, being here would help me ease back in to trying for them again.

I smiled to myself as my eyes returned back to the pasta before me. For now, he was right, we needed energy for the weekend ahead.
