Chapter 1
Rain Eliza Thompson POV
I ran a hand through my hair and put my books away. "Rain!" My brothers yelled again.
"What!?" I yelled at the top of my lungs; making my voice echo through the house as I threw my head back and waited for a response, but there was none for a few moments.
"No yelling in the house!" One of my brothers yelled back, making me roll my eyes in response at them being hypocritical as always. I finished putting my books away before I ran out of my room and down the steps of the grand staircase.
I have 3 brothers. Three annoying brothers, who I love dearly but sometimes I wish they were a rock so I could chuck them at the wall...to harsh?
Jax was the oldest of all of us at 25, with crystal blue eyes, soft brown hair that curled a bit in the front when it wasn't gelled back.
Ryan was the second oldest at 23, and seemed to be the quiet one but was also a pain in the ass. He had bright crystal eyes, brown caramel colored hair that he always had spiked back and was pretty built; but all my brothers were.
Joel.. Joel was 21, and the youngest and most adored as well as the favorite. Joel and I were the closes; there was no doubt about it. He had dark hair; almost black, striking blue eyes, and definitely a ladies
man.
Then there's me who's 18 and I'm graduating High School this year, and I couldn't wait a second longer to be out of school.
"What"? I asked as I walked into the kitchen that they all were sitting around in. The kitchen was lit up with the chandeliers hanging above the island with a marble glossed countertop, with a antique feel. They were all eating..as usual. "We're suppose to ask you if you did your homework?" Jax asked, setting down his glass of water. I rolled my eyes "Yes, I did," as I grabbed an apple and hopped up on the white and black marble counter top.
"Wheres dad"? I asked curiously. "Work," Ryan answered, with his mouth full of leftover lasagna from last night that probably wasn't even fully cooked all the way considering my brothers made it.
I live with my dad and 3 older brothers. My mom and dad are divorced and she now lives across the country in California, as we're in New York. My mom is now a huge clothing designer and my dad was a lawyer but now became the sheriff. I haven't seen or talk to my mom for 5 years, being the last time I saw her I was 13.
"Rain," My brother Joel snapped his fingers in front of my face. "What?" I asked as I snapped out of my thoughts. "Daydreaming again," He narrowed his eyes at me.
"What time is it?" I asked, tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear. "Quarter to 5," Jax stated, looking at his phone to check. I sighed. looking at the clock to see it was indeed quarter to five. "Shit"! I muttered. "Hey! Watch your fucking language!" Jax teased jokingly, making me roll my eyes in response, "Whatever, I'll be back. I have to go to school for a thing that I left in Mrs. Doyle's room."
Getting off the countertop, I pulled on my black leather jacket and tied my converses before getting my keys and phone from the kitchen table. "Remember the 3 D's!" Ryan yelled, as I walked to the door. I rolled my eyes again; which I did a lot around them, "Yeah I got it! No drinks, drugs, or, dudes."
I walked out. My brothers are really overprotective for no reason; and it drives me insane! This is why I wish they were a rock sometimes...I walked outside to my truck, getting in the driver's side to leave.
When I came to the parking lot of hell aka school, I got out of my locker door and walked straight into the High school because they apparently don't know what security is.
Tightened my leather jacket around me, I walked down the silent empty corridor with a chill going up my spine from how abnormally silent it was, considering there is usually a bunch of screaming teenagers. Tripping over nothing, I quickly caught my balance and looked down at my converses, I was only in skinny jeans, a gray plain t-shirt, converses, and a leather jacket.
When I finally came to the my biology room, I took the note that was taped on the translucent window of the door to read it.
Dear Rain,
The keys to the room are on top of the door. You may go in and get your books, but make sure to lock the door after.
Sincerely,
-Mrs. Doyle
Mrs. Doyle is my favorite teacher and has been since freshmen year, when I was completely lost; and still would be if it wasn't for her.
I put the note down and looked up at the door, placing my hands on one side of the wall and my legs on the other and climbed up, grabbed the keys and jumped down.
Walking into the dark room that was filled with desk, I grabbed my books that I had left behind earlier yet needed for homework because I procrastinated and now have an English paper due tomorrow. Walking out, locking the door, I headed down the hallway to leave but froze when I heard yelling from men's voices. I stopped and hid behind the corner of the wall filled with lockers.
I looked and saw a total of 4 guys who were all built and broad; the kind of guys you were always told to stay away from.
One was yelling, then two guys were restraining one. "Where is it?!" The guy yelled in a cold voice. "I told I don't fucking have it"! The guy who was restrained yelled, gritting through his teeth.
The one who was restrained looked awfully familiar but I couldn't figure out where I knew who him from. The guy's voice became demanding, "Do you know what happens when people don't have my drugs?!" I'm witnessing a drug deal?!??
The guy with the cold voice pulled out a handgun, and the one who was restrained gave the guy a blank look with a cold glare. He raised the gun, aiming it at the restrained one's head. Rain do something!!!
My palms were sweaty and my heart was pounding and I couldn't get myself to move. Shock took over, and my heart race was going so fast I felt it in my lungs.
The guy looped his finger around the trigger, making my eyes go wide.
3.........
2........
2 and a half.....
"STOP!" I yelled and coming out from behind the row of blue beaten up lockers.
Their heads all snapped towards me from my voice echoing through the halls. "Well, well, who do we have here?" The guy questioned with a smirk, as he lowered the gun. "None of your business, now just let him go!" I ordered, referring to the one who was restrained. I glanced over at him, and he studied me; with his eyes scanning up and down my body.
"Get her," The guy ordered the other me. A man that was well built came over to me and grabbed my hands only to twist them behind my back before I could react. Biting my lip I tried to hold back a whimper from pain.
"Tsk, tsk. Now you tell us your name, or you die," He tsked raising the gun at me, and the guy who had me restrained tightened his grip on me; waiting for me to respond.
Well that seems fair...
Saying the first thing that came to my mind, "I have to pee!"
They were all taken back, and sent each other confused looks than me. For a moment, they debated on what to do before their heads snapped back to me. "No!" He shook his head, coming back to focus. "But I really do"! I pretended to whine, stomping my foot slightly.
"You won't have to pee ever again after death," The guy said pointing the gun at my head from a distance.
"I'M ON MY FUCKING PERIOD! SO LET ME GO OR THERE WILL BE MORE BLOOD, THAN IF ONE OF US GETS KILLED"! I yelled but I was lying.
The guys all became uncomfortable and I got out of his grip on me.
I started to walk away but I turned around and threw a punch at the man who restrained me. He stumbled back and I punched him a few more times and kicked him in the gut, maki I grabbed the gun he had and pointed it at the man's head, "Let him go."
him fall back.
"You're a girl, you won't shoot" He laughed..
I glared at him "And you're a sexist pig".
3........
"Won't shoot," He laughed.
2...........
"How cute. She thinks she's intimidating," He laughed.
1.......
I pointed the trigger down the hallway, wrapping my finger slightly around the trigger and waiting a moment as I took a deep breath. Pulling the trigger, the bullet left the chamber and the handgun kicked back a little.
They all jumped because I made it look like I shot one of them, when alls I did was shoot down the hall in the direction of them, making them let go of the guy who was restrained.
When he got out of their grip, he sent a punch to each of them; that could knock the leftover uncooked lasagna out of anyone.
He ran up to me, grabbing my forearm and pulled me through the halls. "Fuck," He muttered as we came to a dead end of the J hallway; which is the senior hallway usually.
"Come this way," I said, running down the hallway with him following. I heard gunshots and ran faster; trying to escape. Running through the auditorium, we went to the gym and ran into the locker room.
Their was a intake of Axe Cologne and sweat everywhere in the boys locker room. The girls bathroom is dirtier than this so I came in here, plus it was closer than the girls.
The guy came behind me, stopping from running. "In here," I nodded my head then running to the end and opening the trap door in the floor.
We both climbed down and he closed the top of it. I grabbed my phone and put it on a flashlight to have some light in the pure darkness, considering I could be in a very small space with a rapist, murder, theft, or something. Looking at the guy, I squinted my eyes in the darkness to see if there was anything suspicious about him.
He was hot.
I admit it.
I heard gunshots coming closer, making me become tense and nervous. I bit my lip and looked down at the ground when I heard footsteps.
The guy huffed, "They're not here. Let's go," followed by door being slammed shut.
I looked up and waited a moment so I knew the coast was clear before climbing out and the guy followed behind.
He looked familiar for some reason, but couldn't put my finger on it.
He had brown spiked up hair, sharp jaw line, and blue eyes, and you could tell he worked out. He wore a plain white t-shirt, jeans, a leather jacket, and his face was a bit beaten up from the guys.
He had Player and Bad Boy written all over him, from his clothes to sex god looks. He scanned over me then raising an eyebrow, "Do I know you?"
Shaking my head in response, I shifted in my spot. "Alright," He said and shoved his hands in his pockets "Who are you?"
"A person" I said, not wanting to give him any information about me because he was one of those guys who you don't get yourself involved with.
Bad Boy's are fun for awhile, but when they break you it hit's hard.
He narrowed his bright blue eyes at me, "No shit Sherlock." I rolled my eyes and questioned him "Who are you?" A cocky smirk appeared on his lips, "You don't know who I am?"
I shook my head slowly, staring at the smirk that only screamed trouble and wrong decisions waiting to happen.
The smirk only grew wider "I'm Ryker. Ryker Anderson".
My eyes widened at the name that I knew and I backed up, but was stopped when I hit the locker with my back.
Ryker Anderson?!
The Cities Bad Boy?!
Gang member of the Crusades?!
"Aha!" He said in amusement "You do know me," walking closer to me. "Princess, you don't have to be scared."
I stayed silent as he put his hands on either side of my head on the locker "Now, I'm not going to ask you this again. Who are you?"
"Get the fuck away from me" I gritted, trying to keep a power stance and not show fear but my shaking hands didn't get the memo. "Feisty, are we?" He continued, pushing at the subject as I gave him a cold look.
He tilted his head to the right and studied me, then coming closer to me and he was so close I could feel his peppermint breath on me. "Look. I don't know who you are and I'd rather not found out," He snapped "But you'll forget what you saw," as he took out a gun.
"I don't know who you are, but I would shut up. Or I can go blab to the police, so I would not threaten me" I snapped back. He clenched his jaw and put the gun down. I pushed him off me and walked away, before I got myself in even more trouble.
I saved the Bad Boy?!
*****
"Where the hell have you been?!" Jax immediately came up to the door and yelled as I walked inside. "I told you, I had to get my books," I said not lying completely.
"You were gone for 1 hour!" Ryan yelled, his shy side becoming nonexistent. "Guys, calm. I just couldn't find the key," I lied.
"Don't pull this again," Joel warned, playing the 'good-cop' role. "Whatever. I have homework," I said, starting to head towards the spiral staircase.
"Rain," My dad called, making me stop in my tracks. I gulped and turned around to see my dad with his arms crossed.
"Yes, Dad?"I asked nervously, turning around on the heels of my converses to face him.
"Where have you been"? He asked stern.
"I left my books at school, and Mrs. Doyle said I could go get them," I explained; leaving out part of the story.
"Rain, you know-" He started. "Yeah, Yeah, I know. I have to tell you where I go," I finished for him.
"Rain I'm not doing this-," He started.
"To be overprotective, it's for your safety, lad di la da" I finished and rolled my eyes, then regretting saying that immediately. He narrowed his eyes at me, giving me a warning look before he flipped out on me. "Ok sorry, it's just I'm 18. I can handle myself!" I defended.
"Rain.....we are not having this discussion again. Go to bed," He said and I turned around and walked upstairs to my room. I shut my door and huffed as I plopped onto my bed.
I hate living with all guys!
