Chapter 10
10 Reaching A Consensus.
At first, Amelia was shocked by his sudden gesture. She had not expected to be kissed so forcefully
and suddenly.
Both of them had been drinking, so there was a faint taste of alcohol in their mouths.
Wiliam had never even looked at her properly during their two years of marriage. Every time they
met, Amelia always felt William was horrible with his words. He never spoke much.
Now, her thoughts were in complete disarray. She remembered their make out from Victoria’s and she submitted to him before she could think of anything else.
It seems her hands had a mind of theirs as they started to touch William through his thin shirt. Unsurprisingly, it was a well–toned body with defined muscles, making him incredibly tempting. She
knew as she had seen them before.
It didn’t take long for Amelia’s breathing to quicken. She was not only kissing him, she was also fantasizing what it would feel like for them to have their bodies all naked and cuddling together in
bed.
William wasn’t left out. He remembered how her body had felt close to his the other day. She was the perfect fit for him, and he could feel his erection grow harder, and from Amelia’s reaction, he knew
she could feel him too.
Both of them didn’t care that they were in a room full of people, and it helped that it was a club. Everyone had gone back to their dancing and boozing, save for the man William had punched earlier. He was still on the floor, unable to believe what had just happened to him
“Hey, can you stop?” The man said to Ryan as he tried to help him up. He was pissed that he had been punched, and even more the guy that punched him was better looking.
“Let’s go. I’ll buy you a drink.” Ryan persuaded him and led him off the dance floor.
William and Amelia and the other hand broke their kiss to catch their breaths. Amelia held on tightly to William, afraid that her legs would give way. Then he rested his forehead against hers, enjoying the
tranquility.
Soon, William went back to kissing her jaw and then her neck. He wanted to leave a mark. A love bite. Amelia was totally lost in the pleasure at this moment. She wished they were in a room and could get rid of all the clothing on their bodies.
William went back to kiss her on the lips, however, a change in music brought Amelia back to her senses. She struggled in his arms, trying to break the kiss but Williams wouldn’t allow her.
“Ouch. What was that for?” William asked. Amelia had bitten his lower lip in the middle of the kiss. Still, he didn’t let go of her.
“Oh. You know what. I do not need to spell it out for you.”

Her lips were slightly swollen, and William was proud he had caused that. “Come home with me?” He asked, rubbing circles on her waist.
“I thought you said you were going to stay out of my sight until we get this settled?” She asked.
“I know, and I promise not to bother you.”
Amelia wanted to say no. She couldn’t trust she would keep her hands to herself. After the divorce talk in the past few days, they had made out more than in their entire two years of marriage.
William’s hand on her body was disrupting her train of thoughts and she gave in. She let William lead her to his car, but then she remembered Lea.
“My friend is still at the bar. I need to go get her.”
“Are you sure you’re going to the bar for your friend or for the man from earlier? I didn’t know you had such bad taste. Are you willing to settle for anything? If you’re really going for your friend, you do not have to worry about her. Ryan would make sure she’s fine.”
William’s scornful tone hurt her, but she refused to lose. “Yes, I’m going to go look for him. Any man that pays attention to me would be more attractive than you.”
“Plus, we’re getting divorced anyway, I don’t think you have any right to tell me what to do.”
William could not understand the disgust in her eyes. Did she really want them to go their separate ways? “You want a divorce so badly? Hm?”
Amelia looked at the man’s cold and crestfallen face, “Isn’t that what you’ve been wanting for the last two years? Why are you questioning me now? Can you please just let me go?”
The atmosphere in the car sank to a new low, and the tension cut through the air.
William turned to look at her after giving it a thought. “Then let’s get our divorce tomorrow. Be there at 8:00 a.m. I won’t wait a second longer. You’re late, I’ll leave. My time is precious.‘
“1
“Stop the car.”
The night breeze hit her, and the alcohol she drank earlier caused her to feel a bit dizzy.
However, she did not forget what William had just said. Eight in the morning, she couldn’t be late. She just reached a consensus with William.
She finally got what she wanted, but she was not as happy as she expected. Her heart fell as she thought of tonight being their last day as a married couple.
The next morning, Amelia woke up especially early. Actually, she didn’t sleep. No, she couldn’t. She stayed awake the whole night.
The next morning, she had eye bags and looked like a mess. Going through her wardrobe, she picked the prettiest dress in it. She sure didn’t want to look like what she was going through. Then she sat opposite the vanity mirror and did her make up in a bid to hide the eye bags.

Amelia felt nostalgic. Though she hadn’t made a lot of memories with William, she was sure going to miss his presence in the house. She got downstairs, and Laura dished her breakfast. Amelia only ate a little as her appetite was low.
By the time she left the house, it was a few minutes past seven. She wanted to get over it on time and welcome her new life.
Amelia soon got to the registry. She was one of the first people to arrive, and she took a seat at one of the resting areas. She knew her life would take a new turn after this, but she wouldn’t know what the future held unless she stepped into it.
The registry doors weren’t open at 7:40 am Amelia was bored. William wasn’t anywhere in sight too. So much for telling her not to come late. She then decided to check on Lea.
Amelia tried Lea’s number severally, but there were no replies. So she settled for a text instead.
Hiii. I guess you’re still in bed, so I’m sending you a text. I’m finally getting divorced today. I’ll treat you to a meal when everything is settled. Hugs.
Then she clicked send. Amelia was about to slide her phone back into the purse when Victoria’s call came in. She hesitated a bit, but picked up in the end.
“Mom…” Amelia started but she was interrupted.
“Hello there. This is the hospital. Mrs. Victoria was wheeled in a few minutes ago, and she’s unconscious. We need you to come over right away.”
Amelia felt her chest tighten. No, she couldn’t lose Victoria too. She wouldn’t. And with shaky hands, she dialed William’s number.
