Mr. Webb Make Your Move! by Tammy Chapter 9

GET IT NOW

Chapter

Zara let out a heavy sigh and crossed the street to the pharmacy to get the ointment.

As she was paying, her phone rang. It was Yosef’s mom on the line.

“Zara, how’s everything going? Why haven’t you come to visit me lately?”

With a warm smile, Zara responded, I’m doing well. I was a little busy with work previously, but I’ve finished things up. I’ll swing by this weekend to catch up with you and Chairman

Webb.”

“Why wait for the weekend? You’re free now, so come over for dinner tonight. Yosef will be there too. I’ll whip up some of your favorite dishes.”

“Okay, let me talk to Mr. Webb first.”

Mrs. Webb’s voice took on a teasing tone. “You and this ‘Mr. Webb‘ business. It’s so formal. You’ve been together for ages, and we were just talking about your wedding a few months

back.”

Zara was shocked, and she nearly tripped on the pharmacy steps.

Their wedding?

Her eyelashes flickered. She was not at all prepared for Mrs. Webb to drop that bombshell.

Mrs. Webb was not even Yosef’s real mom–she was his stepmom.

Zara had a hunch that the Webb family was hiding something big, and because of that, Yosef kept his distance from them. He barely spoke to his folks, so whenever Chairman Webb and Mrs. Webb wanted updates about him, they would reach out to Zara.

As they interacted, Zara could feel that they were really fond of her.

She had always figured they just liked how she handled her job. Unexpectedly, they were already thinking about her and Yosef’s wedding.

Flustered, Zara said, “Mrs. Webb, I’ve got a client to catch, but I’ll be back for dinner with…. Yosef tonight.”

“Sounds good.”

She ended the call and spaced out for the longest time before finally hailing a cab to the meeting place.

Little did she know, when she was standing there lost in thought, a car was parked at the curb. The man inside had watched her the entire time, even taking a photo of her with his camera.

The lunch was at Starville’s most famous hotel, and the food was great. Zara discreetly handed the ointment to Beatrice under the table before taking a seat next to Yosef.

The client was Mr. Smith, and Zara was the one who serviced him when he first cooperated with Azure Cloud. He shook hands with Zara and greeted, “Ms. Lowry, it’s been ages! Why the delay? I was starting to think you’d bail on us.”

Zara replied, “It’s great to see you, Mr. Smith. I was on my way when I remembered I left Mr. Webb’s gift for you in the car. I had to run back for it. My bad for the wait.”

She extended the gift with both hands, and the client’s eyes lit up. “Wow! I know this. It’s a mini Thanksgiving parade float! Too bad it’s not the season, or I’d get to see the real deal.”

Yosef grinned. “No problem at all. If you’re interested, I can arrange a visit for tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” The client looked surprised.

Zara explained, “Mr. Webb recently invested in a manufacturing factory that’s involved in the local cultural heritage. This little model is one of their creations, and they’ve got full–sized Thanksgiving parade floats too. If you’re keen, we can check them out tomorrow.”

The client was thrilled and complimented Zara warmly, “Mr. Webb’s lucky to have a secretary like you.”

Yosef gave Zara an approving look. She really had a knack for handling any situation.

Who would guess after seeing her now that just three years ago, she was a ‘country bumpkin‘ who struggled with even basic communication skills?

After the lunch meeting and the client had left, Zara went to the restroom.

On her way back, she paused outside the private room. She could hear Beatrice’s tearful voice.” I’m just so clumsy. I can’t do anything right, and I can’t help you. I wish I was as amazing as

Ms. Lowry.”

Yosef laughed softly. “Why compare yourself to her?”

“Everyone seems to adore Ms. Lowryour colleagues, the clients. I want to be helpful to you

too, Mr. Webb.”

“Having you by my side is helpful enough. Isn’t keeping the boss in a good mood a talent in itself?”

At that, Beatrice’s sobs turned into a giggle.

Zara hesitated at the door, her throat tightening with tension. Instead of going in, she hailed a

cab and headed back to the office

An hour ticked by before Yosef and Beatrice waltzed in. Beatrice was practically glowing with

you’re back happiness. She did a double–take at the sight of Zara and asked, Ms.

already?”

Zara realized they had forgotten that it was the three of them who had gone to see the client together.
