Chapter 22
Chapter 22
As Mickey finished talking, everyone began to look at the diamond ring on Giselle’s ring differently
Giselle knew why they reacted that way. They must feel suspicious and envious.
All in all, people would prefer the diamond ring to be fake.
Mickey and Jenny would want that the most.
Otherwise, the necklace on Jenny’s neck would seem like a worthless little bauble compared to Giselle’s ring
Giselle smiled slightly and said, “Fine Let’s say it’s fake.”
“Don’t be upset. Mickey was only looking out for you. He didn’t want you to be fooled by that insurance broker,”
Jenny deliberately stressed Hymes‘ career, “I don’t think an insurance broker could earn big money even if he works really hard. Just think about it. How could a poor insurance broker afford such an expensive diamond ring?”
Giselle looked at her and said calmly. “What does it concern you?”
“It concerns me deeply. We care about you and don’t want you to be deceived by a liar. You might end up as a divorced woman with no one to rely on in
the future”
Jenny scrutinized the ring on Giselle’s finger and said, “I have a lot of pricey jewelry in my place, and I can tell the ring on your hand isn’t the real diamond ring I think you should get it authenticated”
Jenny seemed to know what she was talking about. Others were instantly convinced that the ring was fake and Giselle must get it authenticated.
“Yeah. Jenny’s got a good point. Perhaps you should do that, Giselle.”
“The Tiffany ring costs a fortune. I don’t suppose your husband can make that much
“Only those endowed with millions of dollars can afford such an expensive ring. Let me ask you. Did he buy you a house when you got married? Or was he still living with his parents?”
Giselle frowned.
She had never thought about those issues.
Suddenly, Giselle realized how little she knew about Hymes.
She never doubted him.
Giselle knew this ring was a real Tiffany ring. She was just confused.
She didn’t really think things through before she and Hymes got married. Giselle wondered if Hymes would regret it.
Giselle’s face darkened, which made Jenny think her satire worked. Jenny pretended to be friendly and said, “Forget it. You guys should leave Giselle alone. Perhaps she doesn’t care about those things.‘
“She’s already lucky to marry a local guy in this city, which isn’t so easy for most people.*
Giselle suddenly realized what Jenny was getting at. She grew cold and said rudely, “I think you’ve said enough about me today. If you are done, I’ll leave now. My husband is expecting me now.”
After she spoke, Giselle left without saying goodbye to them.
Jenny was irritated. She scolded Giselle secretly, “That’s rude! Who do you think you are? You will regret marrying that guy when you learn the truth about him!*

Jenny was glad Giselle left. She smiled and said to others, “Okay, guys. Stop worrying about her. She knows what she is doing. Let’s go to dinner. We’ll
have a dinner party tonight.”
Still dwelling on what happened earlier, Giselle went to meet Kila Bradley.
Kila deliberately chose a fancy restaurant
Giselle knew this was how Kila wanted to test if Hymes was rich, generous, and kind.
Then, Giselle realized she didn’t tell Kila about the expensive diamond ring Hymes bought.
When Giselle arrived, Kila was already there. The latter waved at Giselle excitedly. “Where is he? When will he be here?”
“I’m afraid he’ll be running late tonight. He’s working overtime.”
“He’s that busy, huh?”

Giselle poured a glass of water for herself and said, “Well, he’s an insurance broker. He should be busy. But he chose to get home early every e to spend time with me.”
Kila said jokingly, “That’s nice, considering you guys only married a while ago.”
“Well…”
“Tell me what happened. I didn’t know how you guys got together.”
Kila looked excited to learn everything about Giselle and Hymes. Giselle suddenly recalled what her colleagues said about Hymes.
She said hesitantly, “Perhaps you can help me and ask him something?”
“What?” Kila was shocked, “You married someone that you don’t know? That’s bold!”
Giselle became abashed, “I didn’t know I had the gut to marry a stranger either.”
But that was what she did indeed. Giselle couldn’t believe she had married a stranger and didn’t tell her family either.
Kila assured Giselle, “Don’t worry. I’ll get as much information from him as possible today!”
Giselle checked the time and texted Hymes: [We’re here already. Where are you?]
Hymes: [I’m sorry to keep you waiting. I’m on my way. The traffic is a bit heavy. I’ll be there in ten minutes.]
Kila leaned over and saw the message Hymes sent. She said, “He seems like a gentleman. Look at how polite he is.”
“Yeah.”
Giselle also noticed how polite Hymes was to others.
“I always feel Hymes is a special man.”
“How?”
“You’ll see when he gets here.”
Hymes arrived within ten minutes. When he appeared in the restaurant, almost all the girls turned to look at him.
He was a strapping man with great personal charisma.
“Holy shit!” Kila exclaimed. She lost her usual coolness, “That’s your husband? He’s much more handsome in person than in those photos. Good for you, Giselle.”

Giselle was speechless.
Kila just promised to test Hymes; now she seemed to like this man already.
Giselle pinched Kila’s secretly and said, “Behave yourself.”
“Don’t worry.”
Kila became serious again. She greeted Hymes smilingly when he came closer, “Hello, Mr. Giles. I’m Kila, Giselle’s best friend.”
Hymes nodded gracefully.
That didn’t fit Hymes‘ domineering temperament, but Hymes managed to make himself look charming.
Kila was so excited that she grasped Giselle’s fingers tightly, unable to speak.
She always liked good–looking men. If Hymes weren’t Giselle’s husband, Kila would have made moves toward him already.
Giselle withdrew her hand and gave Hymes a tissue, “How was your day?”
Hymes sat beside Giselle, took the wet tissue, and wiped his hands. He said in a low voice, “Thank you. It was a busy day, but everything is almost over.
Kila rolled her eyes and began to test Hymes, “Can I call you Hymes? Now that you and Giselle are married, have you seen each other’s family?”
