Chapter 44
Chapter 44
The castle was very clean, with a dedicated servant cleaning it daily. Except for her mother’s room, all the rooms, including hers, were spotlessly clean.
Shirley watched as Cynthia wiped their mother’s things one by one, standing at the door and saying, “No one has entered this room except for me. Dad also instructed the servant not to clean this room, but don’t worry, I came back every weekend to clean it.”
“Thank you,” Cynthia replied with a hint of warmth in her eyes.
Her father bought the castle when he married her mother. He said she was the most beautiful princess in the world and princesses should live in a castle. Until now, she still remembered everything they had experienced here.
“Cynthia?” Shirley called her.
Cynthia put down the photo album and looked at her sideways. “What’s the matter?”
“Dad already knows it was Timothy,” Shirley said, a little worried because Cynthia had not met him for three whole days.
“He said he supports you no matter what, and he also said…”
“What?”
“He also said Mrs. Quinn is not Timothy.”
Shirley felt a little guilty saying this. She had told Cynthia this before, and now their father was saying the same thing.
Would Cynthia think they were all taking Mrs. Quinn’s side?
“Hmm,” Cynthia answered lightly.
Shirley pursed her lips, feeling even more guilty.
Before she could say anything, Cynthia said, “I know right from wrong, and I won’t blame others. Tell him not to worry.”
“Cynthia…”
“Don’t you have classes this morning? You should go first.” Cynthia was very concerned for Shirley and knew that Shirley loved her too..
Shirley stayed silent. Then, she hugged Cynthia, gently but firmly telling her, “I’ll always be your sister.”
“Silly girl.”
“I’m going now…”
Cynthia saw her off and then returned to her room, planning to take a nap.
Since returning these past few days, she had been thinking about her mother all night and had not slept well.
She felt tired, although she had just woken up.
Cynthia.”
The sudden voice made Cynthia stop in her tracks. This time, she did not refuse to talk to him as she had done in the past. Instead, she went with him to the garden pavilion on the first floor to talk.
Mr. Yates’s emotions were complicated.
However, Cynthia did not like to waste time and cut to the chase. “Do you have something to tell me?
“I do. I know about Shirley’s situation, and I want to talk to you about Mrs. Quinn…” Mr. Yates paused here, realizing that he was too nervous.
Cynthia took the opportunity to speak. “I’m not interested in hearing about you and her. If that’s all, there’s no need to talk about it.”
“Did you provoke Joshua?” Mr. Yates finally got to the point.
Cynthia was confused.
Seeing that she was unaware, Mr. Yates told her what he had learned over the past three days.
“He said he wants to make it impossible for you to continue in the industry. He’s a legend in the business world, and many people listen to him.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Cynthia was very indifferent, only thinking that Joshua was very childish. He was a grown man, yet he still used such tactics.
“Are you sure?” Mr. Yates was a little concerned.
Cynthia nodded calmly. “Yes.”
Seeing her like this, Mr. Yates did not say much more, but as a loving father, he still had to ask, “Can you tell me in detail about what happened between you and him? I…want to know.”
