Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Their eyes met.

The atmosphere turned cold as both of their faces showed clear disdain for each other.

Cynthia, wearing slippers, headed upstairs without any intention of engaging in conversation. For the first time, she exuded such a cold aura.

“Stop,” Joshua said, addressing her retreating figure.

Cynthia acted as if she had not heard him and kept walking.

Joshua quickly stepped in front of her at the bottom of the stairs, looking down at her with his usual detached demeanor. “Can we talk?”

“Fine,” Cynthia agreed.

They walked toward the couch, and Joshua removed the remote control.

Cynthia saw this and said nothing. She poured herself a glass of water, took a sip, and then sat down on the sofa with the glass. “Go ahead. What do you want to talk about?”

“What’s your relationship with Mitchell?” Joshua stared at her intently, not missing any of her facial expressions.

Cynthia replied confidently, “We’re friends.”

“When did you meet?” Joshua asked further.

Cynthia did not hesitate to answer, “When we were kids.”

A chill flickered in Joshua’s eyes. He felt that she could not even come up with a proper lie. ” Given Mitchell’s background, there’s no way you could have known him as a child.”

Cynthia did not respond, feeling like they were talking at cross purposes.

“You better not harbor any inappropriate thoughts about him. He’s not as harmless as he seems,” he warned.

“We’re just friends, and we have no intention of taking things further. Don’t impose your assumptions on me. That’s the basic respect people should have for each other,” Cynthia clarified.

Joshua’s eyes darkened even more.

Seeing that he had asked her a question, Cynthia decided to ask one too, “Since you’re asking, let me ask you, when did you first meet Jayleen?”

Joshua was speechless.

“She’s not as innocent as you think. You better stay away from her,” Cynthia mimicked his earlier words.

“Cynthia!”

Joshua was angry again.

Cynthia leaned back on the sofa, her emotions no longer fluctuating.

Chapter 15

“Jayleen and Mitchell are two completely different people. Don’t use him to tarnish Jayleen. I’m warning you one last time, if you want to have a better life after the divorce, stay away from him,” Joshua said, his words harsher than before.

Cynthia grabbed her phone and left the room. She could not believe she’d fallen in love and gotten married on a whim to someone like Joshua. How could she have been so reckless?

Joshua watched Cynthia retreat to her room and gently close the door, with a fire burning in his chest. She could not stand being here another second or more accurately, she could not stand being around Joshua any longer.

She gazed at the greenery outside the window for a moment before picking up her phone and making a call. Her tone was casual and indifferent. “Hello, is this Clear Spring Cleaning Services? I have an apartment that needs dusting. That’s right, just dusting. For a move–in tomorrow. Great, I’ll send you the access code later.”

After hanging up, she sent the access code. The apartment was a townhouse she had purchased in Jiverton several years ago. Jiverton was known for its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, perfect for vacations. At the time, she had thought it would be a nice place to stay during her leisure time. However, she had not stayed there once since it was renovated.

Tomorrow, after filing for divorce, she could finally move her things out and avoid the annoyance of seeing certain people.

Joshua had no idea about Cynthia’s plans. He did not even know what had possessed him to have someone investigate her background. When he thought about it, he realized that aside from her name, he knew almost nothing about her.

After an afternoon of work, Mr. Cheyne’s team had spent hours investigating Cynthia, only to find even less information than what was on her ID card. He hesitated before calling Joshua.

“Mr. Neal…”

“Did you find anything?”

“Well, we found something, but there’s not much to it,” Mr. Cheyne said, looking at the sparse information on the paper in his hand.

Joshua did not catch the implications of his words. “Go on.”

“Cynthia. Female,” Mr. Cheyne read the words on the paper with trepidation.

He waited for more information, but nothing came. His brow furrowed as he asked impatiently, “And?”

“And… that’s all we found,” Mr. Cheyne admitted, pushing his glasses up his nose.

Joshua stood up from his chair, the computer screen on his desk displaying Cynthia’s information. “That’s all?”

“We spent the whole afternoon on it, and this is all we’ve got. It’s even less than what’s on her ID,” Mr. Cheyne said, his voice lacking confidence. He then ventured to ask, “May I ask why you wanted to investigate Mrs. Neal?”

“Look deeper.”

“We already did, and this is the result of our thorough investigation.”

“Are you sure y

guys really looked into it?” Joshua was frustrated.

Half a day of work, and all they had were

were two words?

Mr. Cheyne sighed inwardly. “Yes, we’re sure.”

“Atr. Neal, is it possible that Mrs. Neal is a highly skilled hacker who’s hidden her own. information?” Mr. Cheyne suggested.

Joshua shot back sarcastically, “That’s some great imagination you have there,”

“In Nexuria, there are countless hidden talents. Who’s to say Mrs. Neal isn’t one of them?” Mr. Cheyne had already started to consider Cynthia a formidable person.

Those who could remain hidden from his investigations were few and far between.

Joshua’s brow furrowed. “Nexuria?”

“Yeah, what?” Mr. Cheyne asked.

“How did you know she’s from Nexuria?”

“When you two went to get the marriage certificate, I saw her ID card,” Mr. Cheyne displayed his astounding memory. “The address and ID number on her ID card were both from Nexuria.”

Joshua was stunned.

Mr. Cheyne continued, “You haven’t paid attention to it before?”

Beep, beep, beep, beep.

Joshua hung up the phone.

He took out the marriage certificate from the safe and frowned slightly when he saw the ID number on it.

She was from Nexuria…

Could Cynthia really have known Mitchell since childhood?

As soon as this thought came to his mind, he denied it. However, he had an idea and felt it was necessary to meet Cynthia’s family.

Thinking of this, he threw his phone on the table, and after pondering for almost half an hour, he stood up and knocked on Cynthia’s door.

Cynthia opened the door while still holding a towel to dry her hair. Water droplets fell on her white and delicate neck, which was as smooth as porcelain. Her dark sleepwear accentuated her fair skin, and a few drops of water accumulated on her beautiful collarbone, which was both pure and stunning, o

Joshua felt his breathing become heavy, and as he opened his eyes, he coincidentally met her clear, bright, and attractive eyes.
