Chapter 66 The Warmth and Affectionate Room
The first ray of sunshine from the next morning brightened the warm and affectionate room.
Riley woke up.
She used to usually stretch her arms and her body when she woke up. But when she tried to raise her arms that day, she found that she couldn't move.
She opened her eyes little by little, and her gaze met Euan's perfect face. Riley lowered her head and found that her pajamas were still on her. But...why was her body held firmly by him?
After rubbing her forehead, Riley understood what had happened. She might have been moving around while she slept last night. Sarah was kicked down the bed when they went on a trip and slept on the same bed.
She tried to imagine what happened last night. Then Riley bit on her lower lips and cursed, fuck!
But she saw Euan's asleep look under the sunshine as soon as she looked up. Euan's thin lips were closed, and the eyelashes on his closed eyes were thick. Maybe he was relaxed in his sleep, so his usual cold face was warmer than before. For the first time, she gazed at her husband like that, an unfamiliar and distant husband.
Her gaze was all on him.
"Euan..."
She called out softly. Euan did not respond and was fast asleep.
She playfully placed her finger under his nose to test his breath. The warm air gushed out from his nose and warmed her finger. It was comfortable.
After indulging and returning to reality, Riley carefully broke away from his arms and pulled out her legs. Then she lifted the blanket and walked out of the bed.
When she walked out of the bedroom, Sophia and Lilah were cleaning the furniture in the living room. The two girls were muttering something and giggling. Jodie saw Riley had woken up, and she quickly said politely, "Good Morning, Mrs. George. You woke up quite early."
Riley nodded and said, "Good morning."
Sophia and Lilah greeted her too. The living room was quiet again because of Riley's presence. Both of the maids worked in silence.
Riley walked downstairs, "Is the newspaper here?"
"Yes. I have already placed it on the table in the living room. The young master is used to reading newspapers before meals." Jodie said.
Riley went straight towards the table and opened the newspaper. She wanted to know about the Watson family's recent situation, hoping that nothing that happened.
Great, there was no news about the Watson. If there was no news, it was good news for her.
But her finger stopped at the headlines and saw the black headline read, "MBK International Corporation won the top of China's innovative enterprises, and Mr. Euan George was specially interviewed." Below that, the words were written clearly, "MBK International Corporation's CEO is the youngest richest man in the Mainland of China."
The following figures were the current assets of Euan George.
Riley counted the zeros in the numbers, and put on a contemptuous expression, "He is indeed a senior capitalist, and had a good way in getting money. He had got the money and became the richest man." He would have more pride now, and many ladies would probably come to him.
She felt a little uneasy in her. The more excellent and outstanding he was, it would mean that the gap between them was bigger, and she was afraid she had no courage to stand at the same level as him. Leaving the newspaper on the table, Riley poured a cup of water. Thinking about Hendrix being scolded, she asked casually, "Jodie, how is the situation in George's mansion?"
Jodie told the real situation, "The Old Master and Madam George are fine. Thank you for the concern."
Riley held up her cup and drank a mouthful of water, "How about Young Master Hendrix?"
When Jodie heard that she mentioned the Young Master Hendrix and she hesitated for a while and said nothing.
"What's the matter? Why can't you say it?"
Jodie told Sophie and Lilah, "Go to the kitchen and check on the soup. Pick the vegetables and wash them."
After sending away the two maids, Jodie then said, "Young Master Hendrix was beaten up. His injury seemed to be serious. The Old Master grounded him and asked Dr. Rose to check on him. I went to take care of Young Master Hendrix and found out that his clothes were stained with blood...I don't know what he had done that made the Old Master so angry." Riley's grasp on the cup was tighter. Jakub was so cruel that he could even be so cruel to his son?
"Didn't Young Master Hendrix say anything?"
He had stopped disturbing her these few days. It might be because he was grounded at the George mansion. Thinking about it, she felt pity for the Young Master Hendrix. Jodie shook her head, "No, we did not dare to ask either."
Riley looked at Jodie's eyes that were diverting from her. Riley guessed that she knew something but could not reveal her master's condition due to her identity. "Well, it's okay. Go ahead and do what you have to do."
After having breakfast, Euan went to work, and Riley was planning to finish her thesis. She had not much time left that the end of the month was around the corner. After reading for a while in the morning, as she turned on the computer to prepare for the topic, the phone rang.
She picked it up casually and held it to her ears with her shoulder, as she typed and said, "Hello?"
There was no one speaking from the other end, so she asked, "Who is on the line?"
There was still no voice from the other end, "Speak or I'll hang up the call."
There was still no response.
Riley took her phone and saw that it was a call from the internet, and it was a series of irregular numbers. It must be someone who had dialed the wrong number. After a while, William called.
"Dr. Watson, is your arm feeling better now?"
Riley heard his gentle voice and she was relaxed again, "Much better. Thank you for your concern."
"It's my duty. You are injured during working hours. Wouldn't it be not appropriate if I do not express my sympathy as your superior?"
William sat in front of his desk in his office. He was looking at the cast-iron-plant beside him. It was a present from Jeanne, but William first thought that it suited Riley more.
"Mr. Hardesty you must be busy with your work. You don't have to worry about such small matters. I'll be back at the hospital in a few days. Fortunately, I was injured on the left hand, and I don't need to perform surgery. So, it would not affect my job." Riley was prepared to hang up the call and continue with her thesis, when William suddenly said, "What kind of plants do you like? Do you like orchids? I think the cast-iron-plant suits you well."
Wasn't that topic too far away from the previous topic?
"Me? I'm fine with anything. I don't have much interest in plants and don't have any concepts about them." Riley flipped across the pages of the book and wanted to learn from a case in it. "Well, I see. Have a good rest. Hope you would be back to the hospital soon...for work."
Riley was a little confused. She hung up the call and continued typing. She did not think much about it.
Willian put down the phone, and the deputy director of the Respiratory department just came in, "Mr. Hardesty, this is the information you wanted."
"Put it down. I'll look at it later."
"All right."
After the deputy director reported his work and was ready to leave, William looked up and said, "Is there any flea market that sells birds and flowers nearby?" "Yes, it's only ten minutes walk. Turn right from the entrance. Do you have something to do?"
William smiled gently, "I have something to do. You can go ahead."
In the YJ villa.
"Mrs. George. Ms. Saunders is here... Ms. Saunders, Mrs. George is in the study on the second floor. You...”
"I know where it is."
Just as Riley heard the conversation, the study's door was pushed open by Lydia. Lydia in fashionable clothes stood at the door. The smile on her was arrogant. "Riley, you are something, coming back here again."
Lydia leaned against the door as if she was the owner of the house, questioning her husband's mistress.
Riley was typing, "Lydia, Euan is not at home. You have not come at the right time if you want to meet him."
She was under stress because of the thesis and did not want to quarrel with Lydia.
Lydia came up to her, "Hey, Riley, is your arm broken? It would be useless if a doctor doesn't have her arm. You are back here to let Euan take care of you, aren't you?"
"I don't have the time to talk nonsense to you. Get out!" Riley could not use her other hand, so her typing speed was slow, and only finished typing one thousand words.
"What are you doing, pretending to be serious? Riley, you are a bitch in you! Bitch!"
Lydia snatched the keyboard and pressed down the delete key. After a while, all the words on the screen were deleted!
There were no words left on the thesis she had written down with all her efforts!
"What's wrong with you Lydia? Euan and I haven't divorced yet. This is our house. You have no right to throw your tantrums here. Get out!"
Lydia crossed her arms, "Get out? Wait and see, which one of us would get out?"
Jodie walked towards them at that moment, she said in a low voice, "Mrs. George. Where should I put Ms. Saunders' things?"
Riley walked out of the room and saw a few pieces of luggage in the living room, "What are all these?"
Lydia walked down the stairs step by step, "These are my things. I'll come here often in the future. After all, the child's parental education needs the father's guide, don't you think so? Don't look at me like that. Madam George agreed to all of these. You could only blame yourself for not being able to get pregnant.
The child she was pregnant with had done her a great favor.
She might not be able to impress Anika if she wasn't pregnant, and she might not be able to visit Euan's wedding house.
But it would be better in the future. She would gradually replace Riley and become Euan's wife.
Riley's finger pressed on the handrail, "Whatever."
Anika wanted her to get out of George's family as soon as possible. Otherwise, she wouldn't have agreed to such a ridiculous request. Riley was disappointed, and she smiled bitterly.
They were so addicted to the drama of a mother getting married to the rich because of her son.
That's ridiculous.
Lydia requested to stay in the master bedroom on the second floor, Jodie stopped her, "Ms. Saunders, the master bedroom is for the Young Master and Mrs. George. You have to stay in the guest room..."
"You have no right to talk! Guest room? Are you asking the future eldest grandson of the George family to sleep in the guest room? I think you are tired of living. Get lost!"
Jodie left after Lydia scolded. Sophie and Lilah did not dare to say a word.
Riley looked at the farce, "Jodie, let her move in. You all go ahead and do what you have to do."
Riley went back to the study tiredly. She tried to recover the deleted thesis, but she found out that Lydia had deleted the document too. Lydia was too much!
Riley's things were stuffed into a paper box by the maids. Her skincare, jewelry, and her clothes in the wardrobe were all dumped in the box. It seemed like they were trying to chase her out of the house. "Riley, I feel ashamed for you trying to occupy the bedroom with such petty things. There will be no such things for the poor people in this room in the future. And you, get out of here!"
Huh! "Young Master, you are back. Today, Ms. Saunders..."
Euan was back?
Riley and Lydia's facial expressions changed. Lydia poked Riley's forehead with her slender finger. Her fingernails that were inlaid with the crystal made her feel a sharp pain on her forehead. "Riley, the father of our child is back. You'll never be able to enter this room anymore."
Euan raised his head and looked at the things placed at the end of the spiral staircase. He frowned slightly and walked up the stairs slowly...
