Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant

Chapter 37 It Was Him

"Lydia, the Riley Watson that you talked about is this woman?"

Jeanne sent a picture of Riley to Lydia and then called Lydia before asking with uncertainty.

Seeing the picture of Riley on her phone screen, Lydia exerted much strength on her hand which was holding the belt of a Hermès bag. Enormous hatred was overflowing her eyes. She gritted her teeth, "Yes! It is this bitch!"

Sitting on the chair in her office, Jeanne gave a cold smile and said slightly, "She is working under me now. If I want to deal with her, it will be easier than killing an ant with my bare hands."

A wicked smile appeared at Lydia's mouth corner, "Dear sister, I am counting on you now. It mostly depends on this woman whether I can marry Euan or not. As for how to make that happen, dear sister, I believe you are smarter than me."

Jeanne pulled the window-blinds and looked at the figure in white who had just walked out of her office, "What? You only compliment me when you want something from me"

"Of course not. You have always been smart! It just never occurred to me that I was so blessed by God. I only knew you were coming back from America, but I didn't know that you were going to the JD Central Hospital and that you would work in the department of cardiology."

"You also didn't think that I would be the vice director of this department, who can decide whether she lives or dies. Okay, a pregnant woman needs to rest more. I will feed you with the latest development later."

"Thank you, sister. By the way, I bought you a new bag, which will certainly make you happy.."

Hanging up the phone, Lydia raised her mouth corner even higher with pride and arrogance. Her fingers which were embellished with acrylic nails played with the new bag in her hand gently. She smiled coldly and scornfully.

Riley Watson, you were going to hell!

Walking out of the vice director's office, Riley felt burdened. Jeanne asked her to find the new vice president. She knew nothing about the new vice president, including whether he was a man or a woman and whether he was thin or fat. This would be the first time she met him, and she was going to ask him about something so big. Was this appropriate?

The good thing was she didn't have much work to do today. So she thought she would give it a go.

She began heading to the vice president's office. She entered the elevator and watched the number going up and up. Breathing deeply, Riley hoped this new vice president would be easy to talk to. Ding! It was her.

Riley breathed in and out several deep breaths and then adjusted her breath. The vice president's office was right in front of her. When she was at the door, Riley stuck her head in to look inside. A tall and slender figure was standing before the desk, who was looking at the model of heart.

Riley knocked on the door and the tall figure turned around...

"What are you doing here?"

The man in the office was William Hardesty.

Riley looked around the vice president's office, which was totally different from when vice president Nygard was here. The office was very tidy and clean now. There was a new bookshelf, which was full of medical books. Most of these books were about cardiac surgery.

There were two models of internal organs on the table. The big one was the model of five most important internal organs, including heart, liver, spleen, stomach and kidneys. The small one was the model of heart.

The one in his hand was the model of heart.

William smiled slightly, "What's wrong?"

Facing William, Riley was on the alert and wanted to avoid interacting with him, so she stepped away from him subconsciously, "It seems like the vice president isn't here today. I will come another day."

What?

Out of control, William smiled, "What do you want from him?"

Riley thought it would be unnecessary for her to tell him about the details, so she answered coldly, "Nothing."

William put down the "heart", and his tall and slender figure left the desk. The table tablet stand which was blocked by his back before finally revealed itself, "Say it. What is it?"

Riley was about to open her mouth to shut him up, then she suddenly saw the table tablet stand on the table.

Vice President: William Hardesty

What the! It was impossible! He was the vice president!

It took her more than thirty seconds to assemble all the information bits that she heard about him before, such as a surgeon, good-looking, young and excellent....

So it turned out that the rumors were not about the vice director but about the famous vice president of JD Central Hospital.

He was too young!

William looked down at the changes of her face, and then smiled again, "Any question? Dr. Watson?"

Question? She was full of questions!

"Vice president... Hardesty, this is my application form for the academic title of professor. Can you have a look and tell me if it is valid?"

Riley calmed down and handed the form to him. The unnatural smile on her face sold her out, which evidently indicated that she was nervous.

A higher rank could crush you. On the application form, her handwriting was beautiful and neat. All was clear at first glance.

All blanks were filled with appropriate wording. Only the blank of marital status was unfilled.

Riley kept him in her peripheral vision and checked him secretly. Maybe it was because she suddenly knew who he was, when she looked at him now, he felt like something was different about him. If he was a normal doctor, what he did for her before could be all considered as simple gestures of help from a colleague.

But now that she found he was the vice president, she found those things weird.

While she was thinking about this, William's soft and beautiful sound came up, "There was nothing wrong with the application form. But you are short of a professional paper, which needs to be of high quality. And you need to finish it in this month. Can you do that?"

It turned out her application form was fine. So Riley heaved a sigh of relief.

"Yes, I might be able to do that."

With one hand in the gown's pocket, William looked at Riley with his deep eyes, "Dr. Watson, you are the best doctor of the department of cardiology. You will have no trouble gaining the title of professor. If you get elected as a professor, you will be the youngest female professor in our hospital. Congratulations."

Riley smiled slightly, "I am not a professor yet. Vice president, your congratulations come too early."

William's face was beautiful in a decent and elegant way. When he smiled, the cleft chin was attractive, "If you get elected as a professor, how do you plan to thank me?"

Riley smiled slightly, "Wait until I am a professor!"

The she strode out of his office. She didn't see the complicated smile on William's face. Naturally, she didn't see the personal profile of her beneath a stack of files on his table either. She was married, but nobody knew it.

"Dr. Watson, are you working the night shift today?"

As soon as she came back, Serena asked.

"No, I don't have night shift this week."

"But in the latest worksheet, you are working the night shift today."

Riley frowned. In the latest email of the internal mail box, her name was the first on the list of tonight's night shift members.

Margot pursed her lips, "The work arrangement was made by vice director. Why don't you go ask her?"

Riley's eyes smiled coldly, "There is no need. We take turns in taking the night shift. I do it tonight and I get to rest tomorrow night. It's no difference."

After day shift, Riley rushed to have dinner and then headed back to the hospital. She had to prepare her professional paper as well as take the night shift. So it was a bit rush.

William just took the official post and was not familiar with many things. In order to learn about the hospital as soon as possible, he worked overtime to inspect every ward and look up documents. When he finished the work of tod it was already seven eight o'clock at night.

Rubbing his sore neck, William stood up and was about to knock off duty. When he raised his eyes, there was a figure at the door.

Crossing her arms before her chest, Jeanne stood at the door. Her red lips conceived a slight smile. The eyeliners beside the ends of her brows curved up, which perfectly showed her coquetry. "Vice president Hardesty, we meet again."

William stood up, and his tall figure occupied half of her sight. She secretly checked him from bottom to top and didn't miss a single detail.

She tried hard to hide her feelings, which all meant a single thing...her love for him.

Jeanne liked William. This was an open secret that was known by all their classmates since they were in college. When she was studying for bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor's degree, her mind never changed and her eyes were always fixated on William.

From a noble family and with excellent academic performance, Jeanne was very popular in Harvard which was full of talented people. She was never short of pursuers, including experts from academic fields and rich men from business community. They all chased after her continuously.

But Jeanne only saw William in her eyes. She only cared about him in her heart.

She was proud and never admitted defeat. But only in front of him, she subconsciously felt she was inferior and even self-abased.

After learning that William went back to China to take up a new post, Jeanne resigned from a top hospital in NYC without hesitation and applied for the post of vice director in JD Central Hospital.

However, it was such a regret that even though the whole school knew about Jeanne's secret love for William, the person concerned had no idea of it.

William only knew she as an alumna from the same major of the same school. He released a slight smile and was polite, but only polite, "Dr. Pouchain, I didn't know you were here too." Jeanne's red lips rose up. She tried hard to hide the fever at the bottom of her eyes, "Now that we have met, how about we have a meal together?"

Had a meal?

Facing her invitation, William rejected politely and closed his laptop, "No need. It's bad for stomach eating at such a late time."

Jeanne stood in his office and beside the door, keeping an appropriate distance from William, "Vice president, you need to knock off duty, right? How about we walk together?" William's brow ridge rose up slightly, "Of course."

William changed out of the doctor's gown. The seemly suit made him look like he was full of energy and strength.

"Excuse me, I haven't changed yet. I will go back to change my clothes. Please wait."

"Let's go together."

Out of courtesy, William followed her to the fourth floor, the department of cardiology.

Jeanne walked fast to the dressing room and William waited for her outside. When he was looking around the offices of this department, suddenly a figure in white came into his sight.

The figure was slender and tall. In a rush, she was walking very fast. With one hand holding a book and another hand holding a cup of coffee, she walked without even raising her head. William frowned and smiled in silence.

"Vice president, what are you looking at?"

Walking out of the dressing room, Jeanne saw William was staring in a direction and smiling. When she looked in the same direction, the figure of Riley was long gone.

"Nothing. Let's go."

Going down, Jeanne had been talking about her funny memory about Harvard since they entered the elevator, but William had been focusing on the figure in white he saw earlier, who was busy reading and walking.

The more he thought about it, the funnier he found it. So he began laughing.

"Vice president? You think it's funny too, right?"

William froze, "What? Yes, indeed it is."

Jeanne really thought the topic she raised drew William's attention, so she continued, "Do you remember when we were in the research institute? And Professor Howard's lessons..."

William stopped walking and looked back at her, "Dr. Pouchain, I just remembered I left some work undone. I need to get back now, sorry."

Jeanne opened her mouth, "Vice resident..."

"Drive safe."

Looking at his back, Jeanne said, "Okay..."

When she reached the underground garage and started the car, it suddenly occurred to her that she arranged Riley to work the night shift tonight. Her mouth corner rose up. How could she miss such a good opportunity?

William walked back to the hospital. He bought some simple midnight snack from the convenience store of the hospital and carried it to the fourth floor.

It was quiet in the duty room. Only Riley was in it. She seemed to have met some difficulty, and was thinking hard with her brows frowned.

"Dr. Watson. What a coincidence. You are taking the night shift too?"

Riley stopped reading and looked up, "Vice president? You are on duty too?"

William frowned and said with resignation, "You think vice president doesn't need to work overtime? I am not only the vice president but also a surgeon."

He put the midnight snack on her table, "Replenish your energy. The hospital exploits your labour. Just take me as someone who reimburses victims on behalf of the capitalists."

Riley turned over the book and put it back on the table, "Seeing vice president doing this, I am so scared. You want to reimburse me? I only know the proverb of 'the weasel goes to pay his respects to the hen - not with the best of intentions'."

"Haha." William laughed at what she said. His voice was soothing and pleasant to hear, which made him look more charming and glamorous.

"It is good that you didn't say 'If someone becomes courteous when there is nothing to be courteous about, he intends to commit either treachery or theft"."

At this moment, Jeanne's feet stopped outside the door suddenly as if she was struck by a lightning!☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
