Chapter 93: Shut Your Mouth

A heavy threat was laced with Tristan’s words.

The atmosphere within the conference room once again chilled over.

All eyes were tense, fixated on Wesley.

Years ago, tasked with a perilous mission, Wesley entered the company amidst dissent from all.

Yet within a month, Wesley had ousted disgruntled shareholders and smoothly elevated the Cooper Group to new heights.

No one–dared to contradict him thereafter.

However, three years have passed, and the company is no longer what it once was.

Shareholders cooperated with others for their own benefit.

Even though some were aware of these clandestine dealings, they remained silent.

Today, Tristan had dragged this issue into the light

The shareholders were all in the same boat.

Should Wesley dare to make a move against one, the rest would act.

The Cooper Group may afford to lose one shareholder, but it could not lose them all.

A showdown had commenced.

No one dared to speak, for no one dared to make a decision in place of Wesley.

Just when everyone believed Wesley was bound to compromise, even possibly requesting Hailey to punish Sandra–his response is indifferent yet decisive.

“Sandra has the authority to decide your departure.

The others were caught off guard.

This was his answer.

Sandra was surprised.

Had Wesley sought to protect himself, it would have been within reason.

But to stand so resolutely behind her, was he not apprehensive about her possibly mishandling?

Either he’s overly confident or truly indifferent to the corporation’s fate.

Noticing her stare, Wesley returned a gaze.

His usual impassivity betrayed not a hint of emotion.

Yet upon closer inspection, one could discern a gentle warmth in the depths of his eyes.

Tristan, his countenance dark, felt a surge of anger in his chest.

Stammering in disbelief, he was unable to articulate a single word.

After a long silence, Hailey spoke out, “Wesley, you’ve gone too far.”

Sandra’s attention shifted.

She discarded the disarray of thoughts in her mind.

Her gaze, cool and aloof, landed on Hailey, “Wesley was simply answering a question.”

Her lips curve into a cold smile as she continues, “Are you denying Wesley’s words?”

“Should we show deference to those who disrespect the company and threaten other shareholders?” “Shut your mouth, Sandra.”

“It seems Hailey cannot bear to hear more.”

Sandra’s tone was mocking, “So you also couldn’t stand Tristan’s behavior, and was too embarrassed to say it out?”

Outraged, Hailey nearly fainted. “Sandra, we’re in a board meeting!”

“I am well aware,” Sandra paused, turning to Tristan, “which is exactly why we must get rid of the betrayer here.”

Enraged, Tristan hurled something in his hand towards her.

It’s a financial report for the Cooper Group.

Sandra casually flipped through it and sneered, “Is this your handiwork, Tristan?”

Tristan snorted disdainfully. “Yes, what?”

The other shareholders cannot remain indifferent.

“Hailey, the garment department’s issues should be our focus.”

“Other matters can wait for the next meeting.”

“Yeah, Mason has already come and the media is also waiting.”

“Financial journalists and paparazzi are all there. We can’t afford any delay.”

“We need to maintain the company’s reputation.”

“If those paparazzi write something randomly, then…

Sandra glanced at the crowd, “No one realized there’s an issue with the financial report?”

All fell into silence.

It’s a perfect report with no visible flaws.

How could a village girl like Sandra possibly understand it?

The shareholders chuckled mockingly at her.

Sandra glanced at them, “Sorry. I was just bluffing. What I also want to bluff–about is, I hold all your

secrets.

The color drained from the faces of shareholders.

Tristan almost reflexively tried to hit her.

Sandra reminded him, “This report is, indeed, impeccable. However, Tristan, you are responsible for it. If something goes wrong, the rest of your life might just be spent…”

Her tone slowed, “in jail.

The others scrutinizing the financial report had their own array of emotions.

Previously agitated shareholders were now speechless, as subdued as quails with their necks caught.

Their embarrassment was palpable.

Yet Sandra didn’t let the awkwardness linger, “Alright, Tristan, shall we start now?

No one dared speak up for Tristan any longer.

They could unite against Wesley, but their secrets were now in Sandra’s hands.

Any displeasure from her could spell their ruin, so they resigned to sacrifice Tristan.

Tristan,…”

His face was a stormy mix of dark emotions.

Tristan clenched his teeth, “I admit my fault. Whether the shareholders should withdraw is still up for discussion in the meeting. Sandra, there is no need for haste.”

After a pause, he said, “For now, let’s discuss the garment department.”

“Since Mason is more optimistic about Wesley, I agree to let Wesley manage the garment department in the future.”
