Chapter More 85
Chapter 85 Victor Had Changed
Wesley’s tone was as if devoid of the warmth of humanity.
“Should I call the police now?” he said.
There was collective puzzlement among the crowd.
Joey hastened to explain.
“After Wesley acquired the diamond ring at the auction, he intended to exhibit it in the jewelry store of the Cooper.”
“It was stolen en route to the store. Wesley instructed me to call the police, but…”
He glanced at Holly.
“The police have yet to apprehend the thief.”
Holly’s face drained of color, her lips quivering,
but she uttered not a word.
Joey said,
“We can contact the police now that we have a lead.”
He implied without accusing Holly of theft, saving face for Holly.
But after his words, a hush fell upon the Cooper.
If one listened closely, the pounding of their hearts could be heard.
They were unconcerned with the details of the diamond ring’s fate.
They were aware that Wesley had deeply offended Holly.
Perhaps tomorrow, the Campbell would have severed all contracts with the Cooper Group.
The Cooper had already lost its former glory.
If the lost the support from the Campbell…
The Cooper was on the brink of downfall.
Sandra couldn’t help but admire Wesley’s resolve.
Despite yearning to elevate his family’s status to its peak once more, he stood unwavering in the face of temptation and had thoroughly offended Holly instead
Maybe, this man proved to be quite different from her initial impression.
He was quite… cute.
Holly, as if only then coming to terms with the situation, ceased to cry.
Her countenance was rife with embarrassment and hatred.
“Wesley, just remember how you treat me today!” she left, dismissing any attempts by the Cooper to detain her.
Hailey, in a fit of rage that nearly led to a heart attack, approached Wesley with the intent to slap him.
Yet her hand was intercepted by Sandra.

“Sandra, get away! You wanna fight with me?” Hailey was struggling to reclaim her hand but to no avail.
With a cold laugh, Sandra released her grip. “Why would I fight with you? I don’t want to compensate you for your medical expenses,” she retorted.
Hailey’s face turned angry.
“I believe Wesley’s actions are right,” Sandra remarked.
“Just call the police, that’s what citizens should do.”
Hailey struggled for breath, her hand clasping her chest. Still, her breathing remained unsteady.
Eventually, she fainted.
“Call an ambulance!”
“Wesley, you’ve gone too far,” someone accused.
“Wesley, what you’ve done today is…”
The others began their reproach.
Unperturbed, Wesley watched Hailey lifted onto a stretcher, “If you are trying to flatter Holly, I won’t stop yoù. But,”
His words were resonating through every corner of the household like a hammer to the chest.
The other members were rendered speechless as if they were quails caught by the neck.
Once more, Wesley’s voice rang out.
“we abide by the rules of our family. Those unwilling to follow the rules should know the consequences.
With that, he grasped Sandra’s arm.
“Let’s go.”
She nodded in agreement, weary of the pretentious people surrounding them.
Hailey was sent to the hospital.
The others dared not speak up.
Only Debra wiped her tears and walked to Victor.
“It seems that my efforts over the years are nothing in Wesley’s eyes.”
Angela said, “Don’t be sad, Mom. You’ve always been supportive of Wesley. It’s his loss for not recognizing that.”
Angela consoled her while tugging at Victor’s sleeve.
“Dad, why don’t you say something?”
Angela was anxious.
Ever since Victor had awoken from his coma, he seemed transformed.
He was no longer as compliant toward Debra as before, and cold toward her.
Hearing her plea, Victor’s expression remained unchanged.
His tone revealed no particular emotion.
“I told you not to provoke him, and this consequence is well–deserved.”

His blunt words left Angela at a loss for what to say next.
For a moment, Angela looked at Debra with confusion,
Debra’s face was shocked, as if she couldn’t believe it
She addressed him softly, “Victor, I apologize for not raising our child properly.”
Angela, careful not to speak ill of Wesley, remained silent.
With a mirthless chuckle, Victor responded.
“Indeed, while Angela has mastered hacking, she has failed to grasp even the most basic ethics. You have overlooked far too much in her upbringing.”
Angela’s face stiffened.
“Dad, I…”
Debra, voice choked with emotion, interjected, “These years, my concern for you has led me to neglect the children. Now that you’ve recovered, their education is best left in your hands.”
“Do you mean that?” Victor inquired.
Debra nodded, believing he would not engage with such matters.
“They are all grown now. But they still need your advice.”
Victor said, “I have a friend who is the dean of Ofrea University. Angela should resume her studies as a graduate student there.”
At merely twenty–two, Angela was of appropriate age to pursue graduate studies.
Under the personal tutelage of the dean, she would likely excel.
Debra did not object but inquired,
“What field do you wish for her to study?”
Victor’s reply was indifferent.
“She loves computer science. So…”
Debra’s expression darkened.
Victor didn’t ask Angela to study financial management.
“Do you object?” Victor probed.
“I have heard that the dean of Ofrea University specializes in financial management.”
Victor replied with a scoff, “The admission requirements for financial management are stringent. Do you believe Angela meets them?”
The implication was clear. He would not use his, influence to help her.
Angela’s expression turned sour.
“Dad, don’t underestimate me. I’ll be in the School of Financial Management!”
“It’s good to see you have such confidence.”
Her hands clenched, Angela realized that her dad had changed.
