Chapter More 70
Chapter 70: Ask Vincent For Help
nembers were puzzled.
poor now
Oh, you should also pay for Vincent’s appearance fee, coordination fee, and travel expenses.”
Sandra wore an expression of magnanimity.
“I didn’t even charge for the inconsequential expenses.”
She is so greedy! Who knows if she’ll make a profit as a middleman!
It would be more prudent to directly give the money to Vincent.
Although Evie only intended to make a suggestion, she didn’t expect her suggestion to be adopted.
Maria asked
“Sandra, can’t you contribute selflessly to your family?”
Sandra smiled mildly,
‘I can’t. I refuse to be taken advantage of.”
Maria’s face flushed with anger.
Sandra smiled again,
“If anyone of you can ask for Vincent’s help, then try it.”
Everyone was speechless.
Hailey clenched her teeth, maintaining an authoritative tone.
“Sandra, since you joined our family, I have regarded you with utmost
respect.”
But you seem calculative in all matters. It disheartens us.”
Sandra expressed her astonishment
“Madam, I’m not here to be your servant. I’m your granddaughter–in-
law.”
“Have you ever truly intended kindness towards me before blaming me?”
Hailey was rendered speechless by the rebuttal.
Hailey took a deep breath,
“So, what do you say?”
Sandra’s demeanor shifted to one of earnestness.
“Madam, since the garment department is still yours, you should pay
for it.”
She articulated the sentiment shared by many, thus met with no resistance as she concluded.
Hailey was nearly overcome with exasperation.
Sandra pursued further, “Madam, with the effort you’ve shown in calling us together for this meeting, it’s evident you deeply care for the family business. Surely, you would be willing to pay, wouldn’t you?”
Her strategic move made Hailey silent.
“Hailey has fainted!”
“Call for a doctor!”
Chaos ensued in the house.
Sandra glanced at Wesley.
“Was I too harsh just now?”
Wesley, after consideration, gave his earnest appraisal.
“You still have room for improvement.”
His own family seemed to be of no concern to him.
“I’m weary,” Sandra declared.
Had she foreseen the incompetence of these people, she would have refrained from involvement–what a waste of time.
Angela was released.
Tears streaming down her face, she embraced Debra.
Debra was so preoccupied with comforting Angela that she forgot Hailey.
At the garment department, she sided with Wesley and Sandra.
This did not mean she had forgiven them!
They dared to torment Angela like this…
She was resolute in making them pay.
Observing the copious tears of Angela, Sandra turned to Joey.
“What did you do?”
“I merely allowed her to spend some time with a snake.”
Sandra understood why Angela was nearly scared to death.
Joey asserted,
“It’s quite challenging to discipline Angela, with protectors always shielding her. Now I seized the opportunity to imprint her a lasting memory.”
“You are an unusual man, Joey,” Sandra commented.
Joey chuckled, “Compared to you, I am not unusual at all.”
This can be hardly considered as a compliment.
En route, traffic was at a standstill.
Joey lamented, “It seems there’s a film shoot ahead. We won’t be able to pass for now.”
He had planned to take an alternate route.
But Sandra noticed a nearby cafe.
“I want some coffee.”
Wesley followed her.
“You wanna buy me a coffee?” Sandra asked.
“Yes, because you’re poor.”
He emphasized the word “poor” deliberately.
“Then thanks.”
Wesley smiled,
“You take it for granted, don’t you?”
Sandra turned away.
He’s impolite.
Wesley fulfilled his role as her purse.
Inside the cafe, upon the second–floor balcony, Vincent caught sight of their entry.
His expression darkened, “What brings her here?”
His assistant informed him of the recent friction between the Cooper and Mason Serrano. Mason worked with Vincent in the same
company and competition was between them.
Vincent’s face twisted into a mocking sneer,
“Is she here to plead for my intervention? I would never help her!”
