Chapter More 45
Chapter 45: Three Million Dollars
Sandra asked in disbelief, “You want to buy it back?”
That was Carl’s intention, but he didn’t reveal it.
Sandra didn’t want to waste any time.
She brought it up on purpose..
“Mrs. Cooper, you are so smart. I know that you must have spent a lot of money on this jade pendant. This is a small token of our gratitude.”
Carl took out a bank card.
“Here’s three million dollars.”
It was enough to buy several pendants.
Joey stared at the card in astonishment.
He only knew that Sandra used that pendant to manipulate Hailey.
But he didn’t expect that the auction house would be involved.
Wait!
Joey f
felt that he overlooked something.
First of all, the auction house was very mysterious, and even Wesley had never seen the owner.
Before Wesley became a vegetable, he had investigated the auction house.
But the people there were extremely loyal to the auction house.
No matter what conditions were offered, no one was willing to betray the auction house.
At that time, he knew that the auction house was
powerful,
Now, he met the manager of the auction house because of Sandra.
Sandra glanced at the card with a frown.
“I bought it because the price was right.
“Mr. Tanner, I know you are in a difficult position, but I really like it.”
She looked affectionately at Wesley.
“I want to give it to Mr. Cooper, but you are trying to snatch it away…”
Carl was getting anxious.
“You should talk to Mr. Cooper and ask for his opinion,
Carl could barely maintain his smile.
In the end, he made up his mind.
“Mrs. Cooper, what do you need? I will get it for you without hesitation.”
Sandra’s expression instantly turned serious.
“I want your ledger in the safe.”
Carl was startled and immediately stood up.
Then he waved his hand, “We can’t give you the ledger even if we can’t get the pendant.”
Sandra sneered.
Carl refused without even thinking.
It seemed that she had to give him more.
“Mr. Tanner, don’t be so sure.”
Carl shook his head, “I really can’t. What better thing can I do for you than this?”
Sandra also shook her head, “Nothing.”
Carl was frustrated.
Was she intentionally putting him in a dilemma?
He really wanted to lock Sandra in a room.
If she still didn’t cooperate, he would whip her.
She would obey in the end.
However, Carl met Wesley’s terrible gaze.
He immediately broke into a cold sweat.
Wesley was weak now, but he used to be the most powerful big shot in Geniston.
“It’s okay if you really can’t give me the ledger. Just let me keep it for three hours.”
Three hours would be enough for Sandra.
Carl was swayed.
Sandra went on luring him.
“Your visit shows that the auction house is taking this very seriously.
“But why?”
Sandra was clever and naturally hoped that those around her would be clever too.
Carl understood.
He was now being threatened.
Sandra would definitely find another way if he didn’t explain it to her.
Carl looked at the message on his phone and finally made up his mind.
“Alright, let’s get to the point.
“A regular client of mine was interested in this jade pendant.”
Carl felt a little embarrassed.
The auction house was at fault.
Firstly, everything was awarded to the highest bidder.
Sandra had offered the highest price and had already signed the contract.
There was nothing wrong with her approach.
Carl broke the rules of the auction house because of a few tears from an old acquaintance.
There were many rules in the auction house.
He was constantly being suppressed.
So, he would go out and relax.
Once, he met the love of his life.
But unfortunately, the woman showed no signs of wanting to marry him.
So, he directly broke up with her.
But the woman didn’t care at all.
Carl was soft–hearted.
In the end, he chose to continue the relationship.
Now, the woman was in trouble and needed his help.
He had to seize this opportunity.
“Only three hours?”
Carl took a deep breath, thinking that three hours wasn’t a big deal.
Sandra nodded, “Yeah, three hours is enough.”
Carl didn’t understand what she meant.
He just felt relieved.
The jade was only worth a few hundred thousand dollars, but he offered Sandra three million dollars.
He was reluctant to spend so much money.
But he felt happy because he could help that woman.
He had mixed feelings.
After arranging a time for Sandra to check the ledger, Carl left with the jade pendant.
Joey didn’t understand.
“Mrs. Cooper, why did you give it to him? What if he regrets it?”
Sandra waved her hand.
“Why is this jade pendant so expensive?
“Because it’s rare!”
Joey knew that jade was now being traded at sky–high prices.
Sandra sneered, “But it is still just a stone, and it can’t be a global currency.
“So, compared to jade, gold is more cost–effective.
“Even the best jade has an expiration date.”
She looked at Joey and advised seriously.
“You may not have realized this, but after tonight, this pendant will be worthless.”
Joey was stunned.
Chapter 45: Three Million Dollars
He seriously pondered–the situation.
First of all, it was Sandra’s plan.
She brought the pendant back from the auction house and taught the people at the Cooper Mansion a lesson.
Then, she gave them a deadline.
Tonight.
Carl’s appearance dispelled the air of mystery surrounding the auction house.
Because she gave such a tight deadline.
Joey suddenly realized.
“So, Mrs. Cooper, you are trying to use the jade pendant to approach the ledger in the safe?
“And the pendant will be delivered to you by the people from the Cooper Mansion tomorrow morning.” Sandra smiled, “Bingo!”
