Chapter 77
Angel and Bryan are in the waiting area located inside the Emergency Room, while Alice is in the waiting area outside the ER. That time, the ER door is closed, so when Angel looked for her mother, she could not see her outside. "Do you want to go to your mom?" Bryan asked.
Angel shook her head. She doesn't know what she will tell her mother. She actually can't help but feel disappointed, even though she knows it's wrong.
After a while, Helen went out of the Resuscitation Area. Angel and Bryan immediately went to her.
"Where's your mom and dad?" Helen asked Angel.
Angel looked at the ER door, but she did not answer. It was Bryan who answered his mother's question.
"Aunt Alice is outside. Dad took Uncle Benjie with him."
"I see... Well, Alex is okay now. She's still weak because of dehydration and because she did not eat for some days. But aside from that, there's no other problem. But we still did a few tests just to make sure. She needs to be admitted to get back her strength. IV transfusion will also help her especially since she doesn't want to eat."
"Thank you, Auntie." Angel feels like crying again.
Helen held Angel's arm. "You're welcome, Hija. Bryan, help Angel get a room for Alex in the Admitting Section."
"Sure, Mom," Bryan said.
Bryan led Angel outside the ER. Upon exiting the ER, they saw Alice who immediately looked up to them. She seems like she has been crying.
"Go, Angel. I'll talk to your mother. Bryan."
Bryan took Angel to the Admitting Section. Alice just watched them leave.
When it was just the two of them, Helen sat beside Alice.
"By the way, I'm Helen. I didn't think we have formally met, so..." She held out her hand to her.
Alice stared at Helen, who patiently waited until Alice shook her hand. Helen smiled and squeezed her hand lightly.
"Well, I guess it's better that we know each other since your daughter is my son's girlfriend. I guess we will be seeing each other a lot more often from now on... And I am also your daughter's doctor. " Helen smiled. Alice gave her a sad smile. She looks like she's about to cry again.
"You know, when I first met your daughters, I thought to myself, these two girls were raised properly and lovingly. They are obviously filled with love by their parents. Though I know there might be issues, especially since you found out that Angel has a secret relationship with Bryan; but even so, I know that you still are a happy family"
"Maybe your husband just snapped," Helen continued. "Probably it's just because of stress, that's why he said those things... Sorry, I didn't mean to hear it, but it was too loud we heard it inside the Resus Room." "It's so embarrassing..." Alice bowed down.
"It's okay. No one will dare gossip about you here because they are afraid of my husband. Especially since Angel is her future daughter-in-law." Helen smiled. "I'm already claiming it."
"Bryan is such a great guy. If Angel would end up with him, I would be very glad."
"And I like Angel, too. I can see that she really makes my son happy. That's what's important to me."
The two of them smiled.
"Maybe, if our husbands remained friends, we could have been best friends. What do you say?" Helen said.
Alice smiled. "Probably..."
Helen looked at the two men walking towards them. She smiled at her husband. Alice looked who Helen is smiling at, and she saw her own husband, Benjie.
"Special delivery," Raul said to Alice.
Alice stood up, and again her tears started flowing.
"Hon..." She said in tears.
Benjie embraced his wife, then kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry."
"I'm very sorry too..." Alice cried once again.
The coupled embraced while Raul and Helen looked on, smiling while also holding each other close.
"I'm sorry if I doubted your love," Benjie said after a while. "I'm so stupid. For twenty years, I've felt your love and affection that's why I shouldn't have asked you that stupid question. I'm really sorry."
Alice shook her head. "I'm the one who should ask for forgiveness. Until now, I still didn't get over what happened before. I did not let go, that's why until now, I can still feel the pain here in my heart. I didn't for once tried to let it go. It's my fault. I'm the one to blame why until now, I still haven't moved on."
"What's important is that you've accepted your fault and you're willing to change that now."
Alice nodded. "You're right. I think I really need to change. Maybe I was just scared that what happened to me will happen to Alex as well. That Richard's parents will not approve of her also, she might suffer like me before." "Don't worry, Alice," Raul said. "I will make sure that Glory will be kind to Alex. Also, if you want to talk to her and Ricky, to resolve everything and to have closure on this issue, I could also help."

"Thank you..." Alice tried to smile at Raul despite her tears.
"See? My best friend is back," Benjie said to Alice.
Alice smiled at her husband, and then they embraced again. That's when Angel and Bryan got back from the Admitting Section.
"Dad?" Angel asked.
Benjie went to his daughter and embraced her. Angel wasn't able to stop her tears. After Benjie, Alice went to Angel and embraced her as well.
"I'm sorry, my child! I'm sorry. I wasn't a good mother to you."
"No Mom! We just don't understand you sometimes, but that doesn't mean you have been a bad mother. You are the best for me!"
The two embraced each other again. Later on, Benjie joined them for a group hug.
Bryan went to his mother and wrapped his arm over her shoulder. "Thanks, Mom." He kissed her on the cheeks.
"Hey! I also helped, you know!" Raul said.
Bryan chuckled. "Thanks, Dad."
"Where's my kiss?" Raul pointed at his cheek.
"Dad!" Bryan said in disgust.
"I was just joking!" Raul said before chuckling.
Bryan just shook his head as he let his father put his arm on his shoulder.
