Chapter 70
It was Friday afternoon, and Alice is feeling restless on her office at the MPCF and Associates. Richard Quinto's letter for her daughter Alex is on her table, and that is where her eyes are fixated as she walks back and forth by her table. She has a plan, but she's quite nervous about executing it.
She's nervous not because of the plan itself. She's nervous to find out that Alex really has a relationship with Richard. Yes. Up until this point she still thinks that what she read from the letter is wrong. That Alex and Richard are not in a relationship. That they will not meet later in CPRU.
Or in case it was true, it has already ended. She wants to believe that Alex will not come to her rendezvous with Richard. That she's remorseful because she disobeyed her orders, that's why she's discontinuing their acquaintance to not sin anymore.
But if that's the case, what would she do? Would she just ignore the impertinence that her daughter did? Will she not take any measures to make Alex know she knows everything and that she is very disappointed with what she discovered? She doesn't know the answer. She can't think straight. The only thing that's on her mind right now is the upcoming rendezvous of Alex and Richard. She looked at the wall clock on her office. One o'clock in the afternoon. She needs to start executing her plan.
With that, she took the wireless landline phone on her table and dialed the number of Elvie's office. She immediately answered the call. "Hello, good afternoon!"
"Hi, Elvie!" Alice made her voice sound jolly.
"Hey, Alice! What's up?"
"Well, uh, can I ask you a favor?"
"Hmn? What is it?" Elvie pretended to want to refuse.
"Oh, come on! Why do you sound like you won't help me? What happened to us being friends?" Alice asked. She knows Elvie is just joking.
"Well, what is it? You always ask me a lot of things. You don't even treat me coffee."
"Promise, I will have your coffee delivered to your office later."
"That's better! Now, what is the favor you want to ask?"
"You see, this is the last days of the final exams, right? I just want to treat the kids as a reward for their hard work. I'm thinking of surprising them. So, can you tell me the schedule of their last exam? What time they will finish?" "Wow! That is so sweet of you!"
"Of course! You know me."
"Okay the, I'll help you. Angel will be quite easy, since she's here in BS. But as for Alex, it might be quite difficult."
"Oh, I know you can do that! I know you have a lot of connections. You're very friendly."
"Don't patronize me."
"I'm just telling the truth. Don't worry. I will add some muffins on your coffee later."
"Okay, fine! I'll ask her schedule from her school."
"Thanks, Elvs."
"Don't forget about your promise."
"I won't. Okay, then. I have to go."
"I'll just text you the details later."
"Okay. Bye, Elvs. Thanks."
"You're welcome. Bye!"
Alice ended the call. She then called her assistant, who immediately went to her office.
"Can you order some coffee for Elvie? Have it delivered to her office. And add her favorite muffin as well."
"Okay, Ma'am."
"That will be all. Thanks."
The assistant left. She already knows what to order because that's not the first time Alice made her order some coffee and muffins for Elvie.
After a few minutes, Alice received a text massage from her friend.
'Alex's last exam will be at 3-4PM. Angel's is 3-5PM.'
Alice immediately replied to her message.

The first part of her plan is done. She will execute the next part later at four o'clock in the afternoon.

Alex's final exam for this term has just ended. She's now walking on the corridor that leads outside the School of Arts and Humanities. She's walking without a certain destination in mind. She doesn't even see the path she's taking. She's just looking in front but her eyes vision is far away ahead.
Will she go to her rendezvous with Richard? She has been thinking about that since that morning. She was already feeling restless even before her last exam has started. Fortunately, she was still able to concentrate on her exams and she was able to answer the test questions. Otherwise, she would really fail on that subject.
And now, everything is finished. She doesn't have a reason for her to not come at their rendezvous. But, will she really come? Does she want to come? Does she want to see Richard again?
Yes. The answer to those two questions is both yes. After days and nights of thinking, she realized that she was wrong. She was too jealous. Richard does not have any wrong intentions when he befriended Kim. She was just too paranoid. And because of that, she closed her mind to any reasons and explanations that Richard has.
Aside from that, she immediately gave up. She felt scared instantly. Yes, their situation is really hard. Yes, she has been hurt so much. But that's not enough reason for her to surrender because in the first place, she's the one at fault. She's the one who thought bad things about Richard, so she should be the one who needs to resolve the situation. But instead of trying to fix everything and tell Richard what he did wrong, she chose to avoid him to not get hurt. Richard was right. Sometimes, all she thinks is just herself. Sometimes, or maybe most of the times. That's why the people around her suffers most of the time. Just like her older sister. He selfishness is really troubling already. If only she tried to understood Richard. If only she didn't close her mind. If only she didn't get too jealous. Regrets doesn't really come until the very end.
But it's not yet too late. She still has a chance to correct all her mistakes. She already made up her mind. She's going to her rendezvous with Richard, she will ask for his forgiveness, and they will fix whatever problems they have to get back to where they used to be.
