Moon Goddess ...Alpha's wish #1

Chapter Twenty

**

What do you mean we need to go for a run on the next full moon. Who said?”

“It is a tradition. I give you a ten-minute head start and then I come and find you. It’s about the anticipation. The build up before we mate”.

“But that’s cheating, Devon will be the one hunting me. Our wolf, not my mate”, she huffed, shoving some poor small bush out of the way so she could keep walking.

So cute, thought Devon howling.

I heard that Devon and no it is not. I cannot outrun you and you have ... Gabby said lifting her arms in defeat ... an enhanced sense of smell.

Howl!

“He’s wagging his tail isn’t he?” Gabby asked turning back to see the huge grin on Gabe’s face, looking down at her but.

“Up here buster, my face is up here. Devon is the only one allowed to look down there and from behind”.

“The night of the full moon I also want a re-do. Something proper, not what we had”, Gabe said not ducking quick enough when a branch Gabby had held out of the way, flung him in the chest.

So cute, Devon howled again.

“Besides, I’ve already taken you that way ... from behind”, Gabe added, riling his little mate up some more.

“Let me think about it, for now I am three minutes late for class and the pups will be running around causing all sorts of chaos”, she said ducking easily under a fallen log.

Gabe stopped walking and watched his incredibly hot woman walk away, almost skipping at a fast pace to get away from him quicker.

You can think you are getting away from me, little human but I can always find you, Gabe mind linked.

You are worse than Devon, she seethed back!

Gabby knew about the full moon and the mating, she also wanted to redo the vows, after all they were not only rushed but spoken under duress as well, but the chase was a whole different ball game.

“I need to know the best hiding places”.

“Why on earth would you need to know the best hiding places. We are all capable of protecting you Luna”, Melissa said, doing inventory in the storeroom.

“Gabe and I are renewing our vows”.

“I know”.

“We will be mating under the full moon”.

“This I know as well”.

“There is a ten minute head start”, Gabby said awkwardly.

Melissa stopped what she was doing and turned, faced Gabby with wide eyes and slowly smiled when she realised where the conversation was going.

“I understand”, she said simply.

“Then tell me a good hiding place”.

“I can’t”.

“Why? I thought you liked me?”

“With all my heart, even my wolf finds you tolerable which is saying a lot. But a hiding spot, that’s impossible!”

“Because?”

“My brother knows this land better than anyone. He also is a Lycaon. Devon can track you before you even leave the grounds. Your scent is imbedded in his DNA. It will be impossible to find you a hiding spot”.

“Then I need to be un-accessible”.

“Impossible”.

“Camouflaged”.

“Not going to work”.

“Jump in my car”.

“He won’t let you”.

“I’m doomed?”

“Yep!”

“Oh Moon Goddess why?”

YOU DREAMT OF HIM IN YOUR SLEEP. THEN YOU NURTURED HIM WITH KINDNESS. WITH YOUR PATIENCE YOU SAW HIS WORTH. NEVER BETRAYING YOUR TRUST? THEN, AND ONLY THEN DID YOU FIND TRUE LOVE.

“So I am to be the lamb for the hungry wolf?” she muttered.

The Moon Goddess merely laughed.

“But I have no wolf!” Gabby said exasperated. “How am I going to outrun my mate if I have no wolf?”

There was nothing but silence.

**

Gabby wore her own gown; one she had been holding onto from a young girl. It was her mother's wedding dress, and her mother's as well.

It was made of cream coloured satin with a high neckline which sat below the line of her collar bone and plunged down the back. Her slender arms were cuffed all the way down to her wrists with a ringlet hooked over her middle finger to keep the sleeve taught.

She never adjusted the length even though her mother must have been taller than Gabby, but like before she wore bare feet.

Her hair was different this time, it hung loosely down the centre of her bare back with a simple band of wildflowers placed on top of her head.

One of her cheeky pups from Deep Water school had made it for her.

As she approached Gabe she heard Devon howling with excitement. As for Gabe, his eyes were changing from bright blue to fiery yellow.

He was finding it difficult to remain civilized in front of so many invited family and pack members. What he wanted was to skip ahead of time and find his mate in the forest.

"You are terrifying me", Gabby breathed out, as Gabrielle inhaled her scent.

"I cannot contain myself honestly. The thought of taking you on a full moon is beyond my dreams, I get to reclaim that spot over your wound baby and you get to mark me in your own way to. When we do, you are mine and I am yours".

"Aren't we already?" she asked genuinely curious. "We just resaid our words publicly and then we ... ummm mate again".

So cute, howled Devon.

Think you'd get enough of that, Gabby mind linked, blushing heavily.

"Never!" said Gabe holding his mate in his strong arms.

"Ten minutes Gabby", Melissa said winking.

"Yup! I'm ready", she said, her voice shaking.

"Nervous?"

"As eva!" Gabby said sarcastically. "How can I hide from you or Devon anyway. You're liking a walking, talking K9 sniffer ... wolf with extra sensory perception".

"Always running to you baby, never again will I run away".

**

Gabby stood just hidden on the edge of the forest, still in her gown. There was no point going nude because she had no wolf.

When she heard everybody cheer, she took off.

She had decided a tree was her best bet, that would mean Gabe had to transfer and climb. If he was going to get some enjoyment out of the night, then so was she.

Half running and jogging as quickly as she could, Gabby created some distance. The lights from the main pack house were getting less sharp which made seeing in the dark more difficult, or it should have. Gabby could see exceptionally well!

She saw rodents darting in and around a hole where they nested, an owl who had hooted her when she passed, a fox who chose that moment to stop and watch her pass and a male deer with his doe fawn who stopped nibbling on shrubs when she approached.

'My you are beautiful', she thought taking a step closer.

That's when she noticed how low she was to the ground. Then she saw two furry paws and nearly stumbled on the ground in fright.

They're mine.

What are yours little human?

Oh Gabrielle. I don't know what to say or think. I must be dreaming ...

Are you alright, I am leaving in one minute baby. You don't need to run and hide; I shall always find you.

You know this time; I might just do that Gabe.

What are you talking about?

Tell Devon I have a surprise for him.

Devon?

Then Gabe heard a howl.

"To hell with one minute my mate is with another wolf", Gabe yelled angrily, transferring in a nanosecond and tearing off into the night.

He followed her scent, the lemon and lime were like an aphrodisiac to Devon who ploughed through the undergrowth and slashed his way through bushes.

He was getting nearer, but not near enough.

Little Gabby had travelled further than he had anticipated, but the howl was what had him panicking as he picked up his pace some more.

Gabby?

Catch me tiger.

What the ...

Tiger! Who the hell is Tiger?

Growling in anger, Devon pushed himself beyond his limits and had just burst through a veil of vine when he saw her.

The most magnificent wolf he had ever seen. Her glistening fur of brown and black prancing around in circles, trying to nip her own tail.

Her tiny little paws barely leaving an imprint on the mossy ground as she lost balance and fell in a heap. All four limbs tangled, but she had caught her tail between her sharp teeth.

Ouch! she gasped releasing her tail instantly.

Gabby?

She is, well kind of. I'm Trixie, Gabby's wolf replied.

Devon howled to let the others know he had found his little mate. Beyond all of his dreams, he was rewarded with his own ...

MY PROMISE TO YOU BOTH, YOUR WISHES HAVE COME TRUE.
